I had ****loads of problems with thief 2 and sof, etc under 5.13 finally said screw it, and loaded my 3.66 drivers....who cares about performance..my games dont crash, at this point thats the one performance issues thats important to me.

Hey, I have gone through huge headaches with that exact combo, althalon-geforce-win2k I have found the following, dont know if it applies to anyone else. drivers 3.72-3.79 = games work fine, no crashes, however random and hard crashes in desktop during mouse movement. drivers 5.13 = desktop and all normal win2k stuff works great, no desktop crashes....games however (thief 2, Soldier of fortune, etc.) crash at least once a day when run driver 3.66 = seems to work fine in both desktop and games, but maybe i have just been lucky one more thing...drivers 5.13 seem to only allow AGPx1. I have this program, Winincpu, which shows chipset info. Under the 3.xx series it shows AGPx2, under the 5.13 it shows AGPx1....wierd anyways hope that helps.

Hey i have an Asus K7m m/b, and i want to flash it to ver 1008, cause of the Super by-pass feature but it says i have to create a boot disk, and boot to DOS, i am running win 2k Pro, and it says i have to run the program MAke boot....i do that but i get 3 Disks, and they try to reinstall windows, or some recovery center how they hell do i just load a command prompt in Win 2K, the only option that says command prompt at boot menu is Safe Mode- Command promot, but thats like a window running DOS.. anyone please help

Thanks guys. yeah this is a total no-brainer for most of us. I bet 75% of the people here have some stuff that would be 3 times easier to do from DOS prompt. The fact that niether NT nor win2k allow you easy entry is stupid beyond belief. I would think that those Msoft engineers use the command prompts sometimes, and not everyone is all-GUI. anyways got the win98 boot, and flashed. thanks again

I have been having major crash problems with any drivers released from Asus to use with my v6800 geforce ddr. all the drivers past 3.66 crash in desktop. the 5.13 drivers from Nvidia work fine. I was looking around the web for a reason why, and i came on onto a page for the Asus K7M motherboard. http://www.dbsnet.co.za/k7m/ What they seem to say under the Geforce section is that the AMD chipset, does not support proper AGPx2 functionality.... the Nvidia driver shuts this down when it detects an AMD chip, hence giving only AGPx1 speed... now i downloaded that utility from the page which shows the AGP info. sure enough it says AGPx1, when i run Nvidia 5.13 drivers when i ran the 3.79 or similar drivers from ASUS, it showed AGPx2, it seems that these drivers do no shut off the AGP x2 feature. it seems that would be the reason why my computer crashes!!! Anyone else have same experience??? Anyone Have a FIX????? This is a MAJOR black mark against AMD in my book. I dont know whats wrong with my system. In any game that uses D3D accelartion i get random crashes. This means: Swat3, Soldier of fortune, Thief 2...argh!!! using the 5.13 drivers....the 3.79 Beta 4 drivers from Asus crash my system in desktop let along games. ANYONE HAVE A CLUE??? Hey Stupid question: There was some 3.81 drivers listed on nt compatible....i downloaded them and they run i have a asus v6800 pure geforce card... what are these 3.79 beta 4 drivers for, cause im sorta confused at the moment here is the decription as shown on ntcompatible, did i download the wrong drivers? is there any difference between this official release and the leaked 70mb download of livewire from before? i am asking cause i have that version installed, and it runs fine, so i wouldnt want to risk installing this if its the same thing... thanks.

Hey i was wondering if someone would explain this to me.. some time ago i saw that the asus 3.81 drivers were available for download from nt compatible now it shows 3.79 beta 4 drivers from asus. is it the same driver series? i installed the 3.81 drivers and havent had any problems...whereas the previous 3.79 drivers kept crashing in desktop... is the beta 4 3.79 newer/better than the 3.81? btw have a v6800 pure asus geforce card. thanks
