I installed the 5.16's and they work fine, but i have a question qabout the tv out... The cable is connected and it works fine... The thing is I only see the picture on the TV (which is in another room) and not on the computer monitor...This seems wierd to me cause with my voodoo2 it was possible, so I am not sure if it the drivers fault, the monitors fault or that's just the way things are... Thanx Summoner ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

I'm so glad I found this MB! I need help with vortex2 in Win
Summoner replied to Marcus1's topic in Hardware
Firstly, I think that the Vortex2 is a much better sound with much more processing power...I have long been a Creative supporter, but unless you are just looking for good qality windows sound, i don't think the creative cards make the cut. As for the vortex2 driver installtion in win2k: 1)The drivers windows comes with offer wave sound and I think even ds3d (I checked with the Aureal Minerva program, and it showed DS3D available). 2)As for the aureal beta drivers, they offer A3D 3.0, DS3D, equalizer and SPDI/F support. To install them, I found a readme file that explained how to install (you must change a filename, delete some inf files and dll files, and then install it, but it works fully), the driver is fuly functional and quake 3 works fine. If you need this file i can email it, just send me an email, although i got this file at ~a3dfan's site, whatever the address is so if ya got a prob drop me an email at killerbob@geocities.com good luck ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN! -
I had this problem too, from what i figured out, it is caused by something going wrong with direct3d... I have an Asus v6600 deluxe geforce, and for 2 days after a clean install of win2k, it was fine, then suddenly i lost d3d support, my icons became 16 color and movie playback stammered. someone on these boards posted this win2k directx7 kit made frrom the debug drivers, i installed that and it fixed everything, till it happend again, and the installations of the drivers didn't help anymore, couldn't fix it again, just a clean reinstall. i know this prob is related to d3d, and i tried all the reference driver versions beta and full, but no fix, except that d3d install thing good luck if you find a solution... I got the directx control panel thing and it shows version -1, cool huh? anyway i got this wierd prob with my geforce, it worked with d3d, now it doesn't, and dxdiag shows no d3d and no agp wierd huh? It was a clean w2k install... ahh what the hell, i'll just reinst again ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

Just as a note, the rebooting problem could be caused if your power supply can't pump the system... I got a geforce with a 230w supply and it just reboots after some time in games I am gonna buy a 300w supply, or rig another supply in, I hope that solves it... g luck ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

Summoner replied to Arin's topic in Hardware
I installed the 5.14 on my oc celeron 450, but i get this wierd prob that there is no d3d available, with any driver version...the opengl is fine, and so is the control panel. anyone know how to get d3d working again? ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN! -

Which is fastest, NTFS or FAT32?
Summoner replied to Turbo Grunkamoj's topic in Customization & Tweaking
NTFS is the better system, but it has a big prob: if you want to change it u must use win2k...yesterday i reinst win2k (i got a geforce, yay) and there was no way exxcept to repartition the hd and kill everything on it...big mess ( i almost fried my floppy but it's k now. anyway, i made my c 2gb, only for windows, and fat32. the other partitions i made ntfs. win2k is in the memory when you use the pc, so i don't think it matters much on a 2gb partition, and besides, now i can reinst without killing all the data ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN! -
Thanx for your help, i'll install the 5.13 drivers... to answer that bored guy, i looked around, except that there are confilicting ideas bout the drivers, and most messages I found are to inst the 3.66 or 3.68 drivers(so DUH, they are not updated) Thanx for your help anyway, I don't know if I'll inst the asus drivers cause they didn't give me direct3d for some reason, I reinstalled win2k and i used the reference thanx again ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

i had the same problem the way to fix it is to install the driver as is written in the doc file, from the zip that comes from a3dfan's site... i think this is it: http://saturn.spaceports.com/~a3dfan/ get the zip from there, and do i t as the doc file says...it is a real mess, you have to take out inf's from all these backups windows makes but it works, with a3d3 and 4 speakers... even better than on win98 ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

Firstly about the sb16, it should be detected by windows and win2k can use it (unlike what the guy with the PCI16 said) try locking an IRQ in the bios for the card (say irq5) maybe check the card for jumpers, for pnp. About the SB32 guy, all SB ISA cards are the same construction, the AWE32, SB16, AWE64 and so on... so they all work with the basic SB16 dirver, i was wondering if anyone got the AWWE control Panel to work in win2k...I found this driver for winamp that is really cool and opens mp3 files into the AWE memory and the card runs effects on it and stuff...but it doesn't want to work in win2k, only in 98... any luck with that anyone? I installed the new win2k drivers aureal realeased but note there is a special procedure to install them, in the beginning the gaeport would not work, then i found the driver in a3dfan's page, and i read there on what to install it works ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

Hiya guys, I found this really cool plugin for winamp that decodes mp3's into the memory of the awe cards, then it can use the emu8000 effects on them (the ones that were available for midi)...i got this plug in down at winamp.com... but i can't get it to work. win2k installed the drivers for the card, and both this plugin and the awe32 control panel don't wanna load, and report errors anyone got it to work? this plug in is really cool, i ran it in win98, and it is the best output plugin i saw for winamp...it uses the awe hardware and simply kicks ass any help would be appreciated ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!

S-video is split up to the different colors, rgb and brightness hue and the rest of the signals, each on it's own wire the VHS connector is all of them combined, that's why the SVideo is the better one, as the signals are clearer and better quality i don't think it is a digital signal thou. equipent with SVideo connectors is moe expensive and less common, the wire itself is also more expensive, thou better quality ------------------ If it doesn't work, PLUG IT IN!
