yes we really need to know as many details as possible to help you solve your problem please list all hardware and driver versions. Also you mention lockups but you don't really give any detail. Are these blue screens? Are they application lockups? If XP wasn't giving you these types of problems why don't you want to use it anymore?

that sounds mighty weird. I had a simalar problem with no mail clients working in windows xp but internet was working. My fix was a reinstall. Have you looked at your event veiwer in computer management? I find it often tells you quite a lot about weird problems such as this.

have you tried a slipsream install of sp3? that might work.

Hey FrogMaster I don't think i have seen you here in a while! If this is not the case maybe I am just blind or something.

perhaps if you are running server as a workstation you did not buy it and your download is somehow corrupted. Not saying you pirated it but if you did that could definatly be the issue. I have seen friends with pirated softaware that had weird errors like these. But hey you get what you pay for.

look for a program called ntswitch it will allow more connections to pro without having to install server. However this is a potentialy dangerous way to do it. There is the possibility that you will hose the install. As with all hacks your experience may vary.

i haven't tried it yet but i have but i have been using .NET which has all of the fixes built in out of the box. I will be seting sp3 up on a laptop tomorrow I'll let chall know how it goes.

kill explorer.exe and delete the file from the command line that should work if it doesn't let me know the other way is to boot to the recovery console and delete it from there although that is a little more trick as you will have to use the policy editor to alow browsing of folders outside the windows directory first. My theory is that it is an invalid file that explorer.exe is trying to read and that explorer is what is causeing this error.

APK man you really gotta try .NET it kicks the crap out of xp i think that xp will be better once sp1 is out but for now .NET has all of those fixes built in.

i just did the slipstream installation and it worked great now i have another question clutch you were talking about pushing the office xp update through AD how do you do that i messed with sms a little but it is more than i need for my small network all my servers are .NET if that makes any difference

ya know how when you try to shutdown or reboot .NET server how it asks you why and you have to either select from a drop down or type up an explaination. I understand the point of this for like a big corp. where there are lots of admins and what not but i am just one dude and i know why i am rebooting the damn thing.

from the ms beta newsgroups You can use Group Policy. Open gpedit.msc, and navigate to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System, Display Shutdown Event Tracker.

well i just thought that you might be well advised not to talk to heavy about wAr3z on this board due to the fact that it is against NTC policy. I know for a fact that if you had made this same post on a board like 2cpu.com they would have kicked you and destroyed the tread by now or at least locked the tread. I don't give a crap if you pirate stuff but if you want to be part of this board i would recomend that you don't talk about it or pretend you don't do it or whatever. You seem like a pretty chill dude even if you do stereotype pirates. So welcome to the board. I think you will like it there is a lot to learn here and a lot of great people, this is easily my favorite online community cause it is just big enough but not too big.
