how do i enable agp fast writes and side band addressing
Four and Twenty replied to Four and Twenty's topic in Hardware
downloaded the geforce teak util and noticed that the agp was set to auto 1x so i set it to 4x. This was the only setting i changed ran a timedemo in q3 and got 26 fps. went back to geforce tweak and set to auto again and got the usual 60 fps. so what is the deal with that why would agp 4x slow the system down? using the 22.5 drivers by the way if that makes a diff specs are below -
whatever wb xp runs like sh1t native xp skins run great it is not replacing a dll it is providing one and wb xp and styles xp can run side by side on my system with no problems

set an ip address for the nic that the eternal modem is pluged into this will help speed up thing cause it woln't do dhcp. like my dsl modem doesn't assign a ip so if the nic is set to dhcp it will take a while to fail and this causes a pause.

Everyone else probably knew this but....

XP Has Started Spastically Rebooting, This is The Error Msg
Four and Twenty replied to NufanG7's topic in Customization & Tweaking
is your bios up to date? -
i use ics here and the nic that connects to the lan is just set up with an ip (192.168.0.1) and a subnet mask. on the client machines i enter static ips (192.168.0.x) and subnet mask and both the gateway and the dns are set to 192.168.0.1 sounds like you have it set up the same way now you shouldn't have any more problems

i am going to be buying a scsi hard drive very soon and i was wondering what ur opions are i am looking at getting either an ibm ultrastar 10000 rpm scsi or a segate cheeta 10000 rpm scsi. they are both around the same price so i was wondering which one would be more reliable long lasting etc.

Quote: To get more skins you will need to install 1 of these programs (cannot be installed at the same time you don't need to install anything to get more skins you can install windowblinds and styles xp at the same time

I have found out that i need a terminator and an 80 pin to 68 pin adaptor to hook up my new scsi drive (refer to post: http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=18300 ) However i am unsure of what type of terminator to buy and where to buy it from. i need to know a website that i can get the 80 to 68 pin adaptor and a terminated 68 pin ultra2 lvd scsi cable. aparently my drive requires an active termintator what ever that means. all of the info about the drive and controller are in the post i linked to above I only want to have to do one order to get all the parts/cables to get this working and i wanna make damn sure it it the right stuff b4 i order it.
-
Ok this one is for all you scsi gurus out there
Four and Twenty replied to Four and Twenty's topic in Hardware
yea the drive is internal i need to find a good place to order both the 80 to 68 pin adaptor and the lvd cable with active terminator. -

the skin is comming along well and i also have a bunch of sounds icons and cursors that i have gathered up to go with it. I will probably have a downloadable version sometime next week. does anyone want to host this skin so others can download it? i am guessing that the size of it will be like a meg or so.

so what the hell are you testing?

yeah well to most of us just typing cmd is the way to go but for people (like my roomates for example) browsing the cascading menus is somehow easier or more simple (i just don't get it)

reformat reinstall the second greatest windows cure (the first greatest being simply restart, but i don't think that is gonna solve your problem) if you don't wanna reinstall there are some things you can do can you remeber if you installed any hardware/software/drivers just b4 this happened for the first time, if so that program/hardware/driver is the culprit. also check the event veiwer in computer management cause taht is what its there for.

Check out this post. http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=18326 i would be curious to see if you unistalled NAV 2002 if the problems went away. I just removed it as well as the rest of the systemworks components from my computer and it solved all random problems.
-
the problem has everything to do with NAV i have seen 2 other posts on this board with simialar issues and everyone was using NAV.
-
just removed norton systemworks and magically the problem has gone away.
-
o yeah the pause is also just after nav starts i bet that is the culprit. need to get corp 7.6 as 7.51 doesn't seem to work for me anymore in the final.(using system works 2002)
