I know on some drives that there is a jumper setting for 32 gb clip to ensure compatibility with older systems. Make sure it is not set that way.

yeah i find that kind of strange. Perhaps it is a typo.

I have heard that there will be an all in wonder key like there is for office xp. If that is the case you should be able to find one of those pretty easy and use it on your regular version. This is of course all speculation but i think that it will most likely happen.
-
Yeah i think that these people are allready using those drivers and that is the problem. Win2K drivers should work in xp and most do. but some will have to be rewritten for one reason or another.

I was having this problem also. Here is what i did to fix it: Slap in your cd or run setup.exe from your install folder or share and chose install additional components. Then select all the ones that have something to do with networking and install em. That should work it did for me. I am not quit sure why it would not do file sharing without this you really would think that it would. I did notice that the sared items folder will work without this. Perhaps MS doesn't want unknowledgable people making network shares. Or maybe it is a ploy to make sure that u get a copy of server for your network also. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 (SE440BX-2 Chipset) Triple Boot Windows Millennium Final Retail (c: FAT32) Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1 (d: NTFS w/ 4K Clusters) Windows Whistler Pro Beta 2 2462a (e: NTFS w/ 4K Clusters) PIII 500 @ 512.8 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs PC100 SDRAM Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM / Core & Mem Overclocked by 20 mhz) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card Yamaha DS1 Integrated Audio 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 W/ 8K block size (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage 1 NTFS partion w/ 4K Clusters) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse USB MS Natural Keyboard Pro USB Dell M770 17 inch CRT Dell E550 15 inch CRT

Dude you need the fukin spaces so that everything lines up as it was before. If you are simply deleting them that is why it is fuked up. If you look closely at what I originally posted you would see that it specifically says to add spaces where you delete the undesired refresh rates. All I have to say is follow the damn instructions! I am not gonna do it for u. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 (SE440BX-2 Chipset) Triple Boot Windows Millennium Final Retail (c: FAT32) Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1 (d: NTFS w/ 4K Clusters) Windows Whistler Pro Beta 2 2462a (e: NTFS w/ 4K Clusters) PIII 500 @ 512.8 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs PC100 SDRAM Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM / Core & Mem Overclocked by 20 mhz) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card Yamaha DS1 Integrated Audio 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 W/ 8K block size (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage 1 NTFS partion w/ 4K Clusters) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse USB MS Natural Keyboard Pro USB Dell M770 17 inch CRT Dell E550 15 inch CRT [This message has been edited by Four and Twenty (edited 30 March 2001).] -
1. Copy the Windows 2000 CD to your HD. 4. Extract Sp1network.exe to a subdirectory. 5. Go to the Update directory in the extracted SP1 directory. 6. Make a batch file called update.bat and place these lines into it: update.exe -s:F:\W2PSEL_EN What update.exe looks for is the i386 directory. So change the F:\ to reflect the drive that has the i386 directory from the Windows 2000 CD. W2PSEL_EN is just the directory where the i386 directory resides. In case your wondering why mine is different it's because I have the SELECT version. 7. Save the batch file and run it. 8. It should update your files and it will tell you when it is done. If it doesn't then you have done something wrong. 9. Download CDRWIN from www.goldenhawk.com 10. Get the CD-ROM boot sector and CD Marker files from here: http://www.angelfire.com/de2/w2kcd/neededfiles.zip 11. Place the appropriate files from neededfiles.zip into the root directory of the copied CD. Place CDROM_NT.5 into the root of the CD. Place: CDROM_IP.5 - If you are doing 2000 PRO then place this into the root. CDROM_IS.5 - If you are doing 2000 SERVER then place this into the root. CDROM_IA.5 - If you are doing 2000 ADVANCED SERVER then place this into the root. 12. The root of the CD should now have these files: Autorun.inf cdrom_iX.5 cdrom_nt.5 read1st.txt readme.doc setup.exe 13. Open CDRWIN and choose the File Backup and Tools option 14. In the BACKUP/TOOL Operation Choose the Build an ISO9660 Image File 15. in FILE BACKUP List click the DIRECTORY button and choose the directory where you copied the Windows 2000 CD. Click OK. Then click the ADD button. You should see the directory in the big box now. 16. Check the INCLUDE HIDDEN FILES,LONG FILENAMES(JOLIET),INCLUDE SYSTEM FILES,RECURSE SUBDIRECTORIES boxes. 17. For IMAGE FILENAME click the three dots at the right and choose a directory and a filename. Then click Save. You should see the pathname and the filename of your .ISO in the box. 18. Check the DISABLE VERSION NUMBERS box. 19. Click the ADVANCED OPTIONS button. 20. For Volume Label use the name of the original Windows 2000 CD. Ex: W2PSEL_EN For Volume Set Name use the bame of the original Windows 2000 CD Publisher Name: MICROSOFT CORPORATION PREPARER NAME: MICROSOFT CORPORATION, ONE MICROSOFT WAY, REDMOND WA 98052, (206) 882-8080 21. Choose the BOOTABLE DISC tab. 22. Check the MAKE BOOTABLE DISC box. 23. For MEDIA EMULATION CHOOSE Custom 24. For Image File name use the boot.bin from the neededfiles.zip. 25. For DEVELOPER NAME use MICROSOFT CORPORATION 26. For Load Sector Count use the number 4. 27. Click OK and then START. 28. When it's done open up any CDR burning program that supports .ISO's to burn your IMAGE to CD. THANK YOU http://www.angelfire.com/de2/w2kcd/ From the bottom of my heart whoever made this website and made those files in the neededfiles.zip.

Quote: Originally posted by jdulmage: and ya just figured out that "upgrade is wrong" during a beta? dude if no one ever upgraded during the beta how would they know if it works or not? The upgrade feature in XP is suposedly the best yet. Also upgrading from 9x is more or less a clean install with the reg entries for all the current software. Acording to what i have read the upgrade from 9x is supposed to be more succesful than from nt/2k. This is good cause alot of home users are gonna be doin the upgrade. -

Ghosting Partitions from a RAID Array
Four and Twenty replied to Four and Twenty's topic in Software
So over at Powerquest website it says that it can support RAID WTF Raid Support: ServerMagic 4.0 for Windows NT views a RAID array the same way it does a stand-alone disk drive. If you have a RAID system that allows you to incorporate a new drive dynamically, you can use ServerMagic 4.0 for Windows NT to quickly access the new space by resizing the partition to include the added hard drive(s). Does this mean like dynamic disk or something. The computer sees my raid array as basic not dynamic. Arrg! Any thoughts or help would be appreciated I rally wanna get this mofo ghosted. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 (SE440BX-2 Chipset) Triple Boot Windows Millennium Final Retail (c: FAT32) Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1 (d: NTFS w/ 4K Clusters) Windows Whistler Pro Beta 2 2462a (e: NTFS w/ 4K Clusters) PIII 500 @ 512.8 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs PC100 SDRAM Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM / Core & Mem Overclocked by 20 mhz) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 W/ 8K block size (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage 1 NTFS partion w/ 4K Clusters) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse USB MS Natural Keyboard Pro USB Dell M770 17 inch CRT Dell E550 15 inch CRT -
