that sh1t would never fly how could they code a frickin os that would prevent your pirated mp3s from playing. And if you crack the activation you can change your config all day long without having to call M$. So what is the problem? Have you tried whistler? Can you even begin to conceive of how cool this new version of windows really is. I personally would never switch back to win2k ever even if i had to use a cracked 2428 for the rest of my life. Also sorry to be cold but I really don’t care about the legitimate users.

Perhaps everyone with this type problem should post their specs here so we can see the common hardware that might be causing the problem.

Hey I use winme to play games with nothing installed but games all the updates and the various detonator drivers ( i am always switching them) i have 512 megs of ram i have vm turned off it works exceptionally well. Also contrary to what i heard and you guys think my system did get a noticeable boost when i upgraded from 256 to 512 and turned off vm. I figure it is only logical to have as little vm as possible considering the fact that i never use up all my ram. I have the page file set to 5 megs in win2k and totally disabled in whistler. Every thing runs great. I say ditch the paging file if you have the physical mem to run the system. The only reason that the vm started was because ram was too expensive to have enough to run the cool new programs and sh1t and hard disks were, and still are, cheaper. But now ram is cheap as dirt and vm is only slowing you down.

The anti piracy thing is a joke and can easily be beaten. You know damn well there will be cracks for it.

can I use tweak ui with whistler build 2428? I tried Tweak UI with one of the previous whistler builds and it made a mess of things.

boot off the cd and install

I have Whistler build 2428 and it uses my 512 megs quite well. Also think that win9x does benifit from more than 256 megs of ram cause then you can turn of virtual memory and you get much better performance. When i tryed to turn of virtual mem on 9x with 256 megs i got errors when i tried to run apps and **** but with 512 megs i turn it of and everything runs great! Get as much memory as you can it is cheap as dirt right now. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Windows Whistler Pro 2428 Windows Millennium Final Retail PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs Ram Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse MS Natural Keyboard Pro And not a single piece of software that I actually own

My status bar seems to have disapeared in internet explorer and windows explorer. By status bar i mean the part at the bottom of the window that tells you what link you are hovering over and what is getting downloaded and whatnot. I am using wistler so that may be the problem but it was there earlier today and now it is not. I imagine that the setting for this is in the same place as win2k though. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Windows Whistler Pro 2428 Windows Millennium Final Retail PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs Ram Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse MS Natural Keyboard Pro And not a single piece of software that I actually own

Four and Twenty replied to Four and Twenty's topic in Software

2k is the sh1t XP is the sh1t if you want to know about winxp and all the frickin goodies go check out winsupersite.com or intense beta or any of the bazilion sites that have reviews on xp or better yet find a place to download it. It is not hard to find/get. Hell I have it and I have a modem.

Ghosting Partitions from a RAID Array
Four and Twenty replied to Four and Twenty's topic in Software
Sh1t I am not to likely to find a WAR3Z version of this one and I don't have that spare $495 kicking around. I also am not about to give up my RAID Array so that I can ghost my system partitions. Also don't you guys think that Norton Ghost 2001 should be able to do this? I mean I have the frickin corporate or enterprise edition or whatever the hell it is called. Two reasons that the Norton program should do this are RAID is getting much more affordable available and popular. Also with the RAID that most people will set up it will be striping so that is two points of failure which is why I wanted to start Ghosting in the first place. Does any one know of a cheaper or more popular alternative to the pricey server works program? (Hopefully one that I can get war3z!) -
Can you install windows 2000 ti dual boot with winme?

Four and Twenty replied to kuchitree's topic in Hardware
My solution is to use NTFS for Win 98 in ME and then you can read and write to your NTFS Partitions as if they were FAT32. The only problem is that the NTFS for win98 program costs money (or time if you get it ***** like I did) there is however a similar free option. Sysinternals has a Free version of this utility that can only read from NTFS and it is available here http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/ntfswin98.shtml ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Windows Whistler Pro 2428 Windows Millennium Final Retail PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs Ram Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse MS Natural Keyboard Pro And not a single piece of software that I actually own -
I have Windows Whistler build 2428 and I was wondering if this build includes ATA100 support. The disk acess seems to be faster than win2k with the ATA100 patch so I am pretty sure that it is enabled I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Windows Whistler Pro 2428 Windows Millennium Final Retail PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs Ram Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse MS Natural Keyboard Pro And not a single piece of software that I actually own

I also recommend the IBM Drives as well as the Maxtor 7200 rpm ATA100 drives. Also what card are going to use to run your array? I have 2 Abit Hot Rod Pro 100 cards in my system now and they are working flawlessly with WinME, 2k, and XP. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Windows Whistler Pro 2428 Windows Millennium Final Retail PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs Ram Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse MS Natural Keyboard Pro And not a single piece of software that I actually own

Alec is right there is alot that can be done to boost the performance of your system. Going back to Win Me is a pain but a dual boot setup is nice. You can install win me if you have free partition and your boot volume is fat32. you may need to boot off of the windows 2000 cd after winme is installed and do a repair to get your win2k boot loader back. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 Windows Whistler Pro 2428 Windows Millennium Final Retail PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 512 Megs Ram Guillemot Maxi Gammer Cougar (TNT2 M64 w/ 32 Megs of RAM) Matrox Millennium PCI (w/ 4 Megs of RAM for second monitor) 3Com Etherlink XL 10/100 Ethernet Card 2 x Abit Hot Rod Pro ATA-100 RAID Controlers 2 x 12.6 Gig Maxtor Hard Disks RAID 0 (for system) 1 76.3 Gig Maxtor Hard Disk (for storage) 40X LG CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Iomega Internal Zip Drive MS Explorer Mouse MS Natural Keyboard Pro And not a single piece of software that I actually own

I used outlook for that cause you could dial your contacts from there easily. I also have phone tools on my voice mail / fax computer. I have never used the phone tools software to make a phone call but that is something that it is supposed to do.

If u use ezcd creator go to roxio.com and download the latest update there. You don't need to install aspi support cause it comes with ezcd creator. The most recent version update is 4.03 I think that should fix u up.

I really don't care what MS does as long as they keep making the software cooler. The reason that I don't care is that I will allways be able to get all my software and music for free because there will allways be cracks and because I don't have to use the windows media format.

I am sure this has been answered here before but I was just wondering how one would go about removing an entry that doesn't belong in the add remove programs applet anymore because for one reason or another the program is allready uninstalled. I recently borrowed a friend's web cam III to try with my system and the god damn driver install made an entry in the add remove programs applet. when i unpluged the web cam the driver dissapeared automatically but the entry in the applet was left over so now every time i try to uninstall it says driver is allready uninstalled. Fuc.king creative god damn that stupid company. It is like they can do whatever the hell they want and you still have to buy their sh1t.

My friend has a MSI K7T Pro 2a motherboard with the shitty via onboard audio built in. He runs Windows Me. The performance of the VIA AC97 audio was not up to par as he uses this machine for gamming and listening to music and the VIA audio has a nasty tendency to skip and occupy a ridiculous amount of cpu time. So I suggested he buy a Sound Blaster Live Value because I had heard good things about them and the price was right. So he gets the card and installs it and disables the via ac97 driver and he doesn’t get any sound out of the sound blaster. All the drivers for the sound blaster are installed and say that they are working correctly with no conflicts. The weird thing is there is no little speaker icon in the sys tray. IN the sound and multimedia options under the audio tab where it lists the preferred devices for playback and recording and MIDI the sound blaster doesn’t show up. But under the devices section the sound blaster shows up and if you open up its properties I has the radio button next to “use sound properties from this device” so I decided that it must be a bios issue and went into the cmos setup and set onchip sound to disabled then reinstalled the sound blaster and nothing changed. Then I uninstalled the sound blaster and moved it from slot 1 to slot 2 and reinstalled the driver. I also tried a bunch of other stuff to numerous to mention. But no matter what the speaker does not show in the sys tray and the sound blaster is not in the list of preferred devices. I am stumped what do it do. Also there is a unknown device listed in the device manager under sound video and game controllers that has always been there. I have not been able to get it to install as I am not sure what it is and what drivers it needs. The only other cards in the sys are an asus v6600 agp and a lucent voice win modem. One other interesting thing is that the wdm for voice modem and Game port for sblive both show up in the preferred devices menu where the sound blaster should be listed. Any ideas on what could be happening here. I feel really shitty for suggesting this card to this kid and having it be such a pain in the *** .

I would love to build my own system and plan to do so very soon it is just that i don't have the money. And i agree what came inside my dell was mostly crap and i have swapped out and replaced more than half of the components.
