  1. I just bought a new Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000, I updated to the latest software for 2000 support, and when I ran the QuickCam software to record at 640x480, all I get is a gray box with no picture. I called Logitech and tried to find out the problem, one tech said that I needed to install the latest USB filter for my VIA chipset, but that didn’t seem to help. I called again and another tech said that some USBs don’t work well with their cam and suggested buying a PCI USB adapter, which I had one on hand and tried it but still nothing. I’m not sure, but I think its either VIA’s USB or Logitech’s software that is causing the problem, or could it be 2000 some how? Every aspect of my cam works great, but I can’t use a high resolution of 640x480 at 30FPS, does this take too much USB bandwidth or power or is there something flaky with USB? Forgot to add my specs: Asus A7V MB 256MB PC133 30GB HD SB Live! 5.1 Win2K [This message has been edited by Vechlor (edited 14 March 2001).]

    QuickCamPro 3000 + USB = No 640x480?

Never mind I formated my HD and that fixed all my probs. BTW: DON'T INSTALL SP1 for W2K, IT SUCKS!

    Logitech QuickCam pro (Beige Ring)

I'm about to buy the Quickcam Pro 3000. Why doesn't it work under W2K? On Logitech's web site, under system requirements, it says Windows 2000. Also, the newest released software version is 5.4.3 Full.
  4. Before Aureal’s support page closed, they had a beta version + DOC file to help with the installation of the vortex2 drivers. I used to have them burned on CD, but I don’t anymore and they where the only ones that seemed to work very well for me when I had W2K installed. During that time before they closed the web site down, does anyone have these drivers that they downloaded from ONLY their web site, and maybe the DOC file they had linked too? Also, I’ve tried the drivers from vortexofsound.com, but the drivers and steps for installation seem much different from what I remember (I know, because I installed my MX300 several times before awhile back). The drivers from vortexofsound.com don’t seem to work and when I start playing music or any type of sound, the sound just seems to crash. I also remember my brother telling me that the drivers I installed that worked perfectly (no EAX or A3D, but so what, the sound worked!) where vortex1 2500 drivers, but I said so what, and that aureal.com released them for the vortex2 based cards for W2K, so this might lead to some clues to what type of driver I’m looking for, or maybe I’m full of s***!

    Need MX300 W2K Drivers From Aureal.com - HELP!

I greatly admire your help and support! Thanks. YGM
  6. The Problem: ----------------------------- Any game I play where I half to press or hold down one mouse button while clicking on another causes the input or clicking of that button to lock-up even after releasing my fingers. This problem I think is with all the FPS games I play like Quake3 and Counter-Strike, where as if I let go of the buttons, my gun keeps firing or I keep running forward until I press the mouse button again to stop it. I also noticed in Counter-Strike, if I’m holding down the right mouse button to run, while I’m running I switch weapons using the keyboard and when I click the left mouse button to initiate that I want to select that weapon, I stop running and then I have to release the right mouse button and then press the right mouse button again to continue running. Hardware / Software Specs: ----------------------------- Win2K Pro Build 2195 SP1 Logitech 3-Button Gaming Mouse PS/2 Logitech MouseWare Control Center: v9.24.80 Logitech MouseWare Driver: v9.24 DirectX Version: 4.08.00.0400 Two Words I Have To Say: PLEASE HELP! ------------ UPDATE ------------ I managed to temporally fix the problem, but while playing a hard game of Q3, I notice the left fire button gets stuck sometimes, but I have to say that its working almost 50% better now. What I did was uninstalled the Logitech software, uninstalled the mouse driver and reinstalled the Standard PS/2 Port Mouse driver that comes with W2K. In Advanced Settings, I set the sample rate to 100 and the input buffer to 300, lowering the input buffer seems to make things worse. I hope this helps those who might be having the same problem. Mouse Input Locking in games (sticky keys?)

I renamed the sys and rebooted, and because the mouse was not responding after rebooting back into windows, I used the keyboard to navigate my way to the logitech drivers. After installing the drivers, I played some Quake3 and some CS and found NO problems at all! Thanks for the help!

If you install MouseWare 9.00 over a previous version of MouseWare, you may lose keyboard and mouse functionality." "Furthermore, if you are using Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, or Windows NT 4.0 and you plan to upgrade to Windows 2000 by installing over your current operating system, you must run the MouseWare uninstaller before upgrading to Windows 2000. The reason for this is MouseWare 8.x (and earlier), is not supported under Windows 2000, and the uninstall for MouseWare may not run in Windows 2000."

Mouse Input Locking in games (sticky keys?)

Does my face expression give any hint as to what happened after installing the new mouse software? Well, my problems are just as worse, and now I have to go back to the old primitive driver. I've tried USB/PS2 and both don't seem to matter. Something is wrong with W2K or my hardware. I think ever since I installed SP1 for W2K, this problem won't go away.

Mouse Input Locking in games (sticky keys?)

New version of Logitech's mouse software release from their website: http://www.logitech.com/cf/support/mousefiles_w2000.cfm This may or may not fix the problems I've been having, so I'm going to give them a try and see what happens.

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz in Win2k

I was thinking about buying a new sound card with w2k support (I mean REAL support like what you used to get in w98) with a3d and eax. I'm still going to wait until someone has soild drivers for w2k. NO MORE BETA!! Right now I'm using a Diamond MX300 card using Aureal's beta (sux) drivers which seem to work really well except for NO EAX and some A3D support. Gee, you would think with all the people who are using w2k and Aureal's chipset should at least get better drivers, from Creative of course! I just hope Creative considers our feelings we had towards Aureal and how they gave us 3D sound. Creative should at least give something back for taking something away from us.

Looking for AGP 3d card around $30

If you find something better, go for it! But if you want to buy the card from me, I will only except money order, no check or pay pal please. This way I feel more confident receiving payment from someone I don't know, if you know what I mean. L.M.K. when you want the card before the end of next week, otherwise I will sell it on auction maybe.

Looking for AGP 3d card around $30

I've been using Det.3 drivers with it and D3D games work great as well as OGL. The last time I played UT I was getting good performance in d3d at 1024x768 16bit. Its a TNT and the link Igor provided is correct.

Looking for AGP 3d card around $30

I have a Creative Labs Riva TNT 16MB AGP card. I'm not sure if it compares with a voodoo3 2000 [what ever that is ]. But I'm looking for $40 shipped. This card is strong and is vary overclockable. It has a heatsink / no fan on it which runs fine without the fan when not overclocked of course. I've been using this on a c366 computer and I get really good game play in half-life 800x600 32-bit color and quake III runs great at 800x600 16bit color with options on medium with 32-40 FPS. let me know if you are interested.. chesvr@jps.net
  19. I bought a new NetGear 10/100 FA310TX PCI NIC card, and now it won't work in Windows 2000??? When I plugged the card in for the first time, windows found it and installed the drivers, but I can't seem to find anyone over the workgroup no matter what I do. I tried adding NETBIOS and assigned an IP address, but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Plus, if I go to properties, I see a tab called Advance with a lot of weird options like: burst rate. Anyway, the card installs and the hardware part seems to work, but not the software side, maybe wrong or just bad drivers? I also went to NetGear's website and emailed them three times with the same answer telling me to download this program that "updates" my LAN card, but the description reads only for use with win9x or NT4.0. I looked for drivers, but all I found was a message telling me to use the ones from the Windows 2000 CD. Hummm... This is getting me nowhere!!! Can someone please help me with this problem I'm having with my LAN card. THANKS A BUNCH!
  20. I found out the problem why my NetGear 10/100 didn’t work. For some reason, my 10BaseT/2 PCI works in the 5th PCI slot on my Abit BP6 motherboard, but when I plug in the NetGear card in the same slot, nothing seems to work once I’m in W2K even after the drivers are installed. So I decided to change PCI slots and now it works on 10 and 100BaseT HUBs.
