I've got a friend that lives for that game and if you are a NASCAR fan or even a racing fan it is a great game. Probably my pick for racing game of the year.
-
Hehe I wrote that mad hehe. I was playing last night and I guess I was expecting something different. Just thought it was too much like every other game. and after halo my standards have been raised
-
After playing more of AVP2 I have been totally unimpressed. Same old story with terrible graphics. I agree with Carmack on the Lithtech engine. It sucks
-
i agree totally. I have deplyed Windows products for 5 yesra now and have been an avvid user of Technet. It is really helpful and has a wealth of info. I think the Macintosh platform is way better then Linux in terms of functionality and ease of use. The problem with the Linux community is they assunme most users are basically knowledgable. If they were I wouldn't have a job.
-
what I don't quite understand is the Linux community is so anti Windows, why do they want to have anything at all to do with it. I beleive "wannabe" is the word that comes to mind. Either use Linux and all the apps that are available for it or use Windows. Stop trying to make it something it's not. When Bill Gates and Linus get together, hehe, then maybe they can make a hybrid or something.

You don't need a faster CPU when you have a BIG....... Hard Drive. "Get your minds out the gutter"
-
Yet another reason to not install Linux
-
I have had one BSOD and that was a result of the newest det drivers that are know to cause it. Other then that its way more stable

http://hardware.earthweb.com/prodop/article/0,,12099_942871_,00.html I thought this was a joke. The 845D as product of the year. Anyways I let him know about it. With products like the Geforce 3 and even the ATI Radeon 8500, a mediocre chipset like the 845D, that was long coming shouldn't even be in the top 5 IMO.
-
yeah that's all I want. VIA has made great strides but they need to continue to improve things. I do think Intel's days of being the stabilitly leader are coming to an end. SIS, VIA, NVIDIA, all are making strides in chipsets. I hope that with the new APG 8X and other standards make things better
-
I'm not biased in the least. I am acutally considering getting an 845D chipset cause I run raid and VIA ahs terrible raid performance. I wish the P4 chips werent so expensive
-
I applaud INtel for finally going DDR and making the P4 available to a wider market but I have had an athlon DDR board for 7 months now, so if your giving the award based on bringing performance based DDR to the masses, this was done way before the 845D for the AMD platform. ANd I'm guessing thats what pushed intel into releasing thiers earlier. SO maybe the AMD DDR should get the award instead, being the catylist and all.
-
The same could be said of the 845D is just brings additonal features as well. They didn't bring anything new that's my point. At least ATI and Nvidia are trying to better products.
-
I was gonna put EQ SOL in but they totally messsed it up. No new interface as of yet, which is one of the reasons I dont play much anymore

My friend actually bouoght this game and I saw it a couple times, unfortunately he just got deployed to go to war and he wanted me to watch over his stuff so now I have the game. I just wish it was under better circumstances
-
Hey that apple thing is pretty cool. Sometimes I actually understand their "vision". The Athlon XP should have made it over the DDR P4 solution from INtel, tho I still think the Geforce 3 or ATI Radeon improve thier respective systems the most
-
Well on one hand we say that performance isnt as important as stability, which would deem the ATI card way better then it's nvidia counterpart. Yeah it's drivers might occasionally suck but ATI cards have always been stable. Also a side note to that, stabilty is easy to achieve when performance isn't needed, regardless of which chipset you use. If it were a top performer even among it's fellow chipsets for the P4 I would understand, but take into account that at best it's third place for the P4 platform, and not even in the top 5 when adding the Athlon platform in the mix. If being average means its a great product then the majority of new hardware deserves a share of the title

If you look at the reviews on anandtech and tomshardware it falls behind the Via and SIS solutions which were already out, which puts it in 4th place behind its own RDRAM chipset and the other 2 solutions. The only reason its not it last place is because of the regular 845 board. On top of that it has no really stand out features like the Via and SIS boards like USB 2.0 and such. We keep hearing from them to wait for the next chipset to really get the best out of the P4 and it took 3rd party chipsets to make that happen, which is totally unlike INtel. Anyways if releasing a product that has been available from 2 other companies for over 3 months that costs more, performs less then its competition, warrants a product of the year then they certainly deserve it. As to the Radeon and Geforce they both are deserving candidates, but the Radeon was a total suprise, that's why I'm leaning toward it. They showed they can make high end video cards as well. It has a plethora of features that some of them may or not be used, but the ones that are used make a big difference for gamers, such as thier version of AA. Either way the 845D shouldn't even be a candidate, if anything, nominate the SIS P4 DDR Board. At least it performs well enough to be considered.

Just want to hear some of the things you've done this year to your computer that you think qualifies you to make the list. Here's mine After having trouble with Qwest's DSL service being turned on and hearing them say it be another day or so, I was too impatient to wait, so I tried installing Windows 2000 to see if it was the INtel Modem they sent me that has no XP drivers, after I had had been running Windows XP for the last month or so, totally screwing up the boot files where I could not get into my system under XP. Needless to say it was a format and lost a lot of important data, including Christmas lists and such.

I like AVP2 as well, just havent played it enough. Im a little biased against sequals tho. One of the reasons I thought the PC had such a strong lineup , cause they had a lot more originality. XBOX was the only other platform with new stuff, The gamecube and PS2 just have more of the same tho they are still great games nonetheless.
-
That would make it 3 years running hehe

Damn and I was one of the guys that hit on you. Still Interested? Maybe I need another drink too

I got an XBOX (HALO, DOA3), a Gamecube (Star Wars:RS, Luigi's Mansion), Empire Earth and Shadows of Luclin for PC, A baby boy (from My wife) and a new car. I made out well this year me thinks.

I actually forgot about this one, I was building a computer for my friend , the first one I built since going to Korea and forgot about the 220/110 voltage difference. That was one motherboard down. Then when I got the RMA back my friend did the same thing while I was busy with something else. 1 month to complete his system. Not my finest hour
-
yeah I just canceled my DSL from Qwest, they take the cake on poor customer services, and me for being dumb enough to sign up with them
