No problem you guys wanna be like that I won't post help here. Besides he edit his origianl post to make it look better. If because you think I didn't read someone's post correctly gives him the right to be an ***, then fine. Have fun. Was trying to help, and I won't again

Seems that the Athlon XP/2000 GF3 Combo has trouble with MAX PAYNE Right click on the MAX PAYNE icon on your desktop, go to properties then the compatibilty tab and select WIN98 and check run in compatility mode. Works Flawless in XP and Win 2000 now

Next time be nice when replying to posts that are trying to help. Last thing all of us need are testy posters when we are trying to help each other.

From Voodoo Extreme "Petri Järvilehto, project leader of Max Payne at Remedy knocked up our surrogate Max Payne forums (3D Realms' webserver is in the process of being upgraded at the moment) with an update about the GF3 + Win2k + Athlon problems that some users have reported. Plus, if you're having problems with Win2K in general, you might want to check out this post. Here's the poop on the GF3-Win2k- Athlon problem: Just wanted to let you know that we're aware of the problems. It seems that with GF3 + Win2k + Athlon combination the game is exiting to desktop when loading a new map. The game has been tested with different GF3/Athlon configs, and was developed mostly on Geforce+Win2k machines, so at the moment we are assuming that this is an issue with the user configuration (some drivers conflicting with each other or something). As of yet, we haven't been able to re-create the problem at our office, so I can't give you any solid info. As soon as we get the game to crash here as well, we should be able to figure out how the problem can be fixed. In all probability a patch won't be needed. Will keep you guys posted. If you have any problems with the game (or want to talk to other players) feel free to stop by! It has been reported on most sites and forums that it was releated mostly to an Athlon configs. And Sel you need to back off, your the reason I have a job cause your the same person that everyone refers to as "My buddy said this, or my buddy can fix this" THen I get paid to fix it the right way.

Not a driver issue either, using the 12.41 and 12.90 neither one works
-
THe problem is the Athlon, Geforce 3 and Windows 2000 or XP, which you stated your not using that config.

I have the same problem. Seems that the Athlon XP/2000 GF3 Combo is the killer. Right click on the MAX PAYNE icon on your desktop, go to properties then the compatibilty tab and select WIN98 and check run in compatility mode. Works Flawless in XP and Win 2000 now

How Long will it take creative to make XP drivers??
sapiens74 replied to ThC 129's topic in Hardware
That's why I rid myself of that card. I really enjoyed it until Win2000 came out and it's like they didn't give a da@m about 2000 users. I honestly think they have a new card coming out, that's why the drivers are dried up. They only half a@s supported it up until now, and they will probably rollout their next card by Christmas with a "Full Support for Windows XP" sticker on it. They lost me as a customer. -
Just a matter of preference. Techies will always prefer something thats out of the mainstream. Whereas IT professionsal want stuff thats easy to deploy and simple for end users to learn. I want the latter of course. Everyday I have to fix problems mostly caused by users lack of knowledge. Linux would be a freaking nightmare. Again I'll say this: When techies start thinking like businessmen, Linux will take off. If they continue to develope as is, they will turn most of us off. Maybe for good

Eddie your a sick bastage . I totally agree with you

Bill Gates is the richest man on the planet because he is a business man first, techie second. Intel learned when they named the Pentium after having thier chips called 8086 and stuff like that. Linux will be a good OS when the guru's that make the stuff realize that the mass market needs it to be simple. I honestly don't believe they want it that way. Just like Mac users don't won't everyone to have a MAc, it would take away the fun of being unique. I am an IMO, domain admin, and computer spe[censored]t, and I have trouble with Linux. Make my life a little more simple and I'll use it, so will many others.

I'm having same problem, tho with XP and 2000. They can see each other and share files, no internet tho. Installed Sygate works like a champ now. Had to set the 2000 machine with the DSL with 192.168.0.1 and the XP machine to use DHCP. Seems to work. Hope that helps

Check your CPU temps. Might be overheating. Reseat it

Hey dude it is beta. I have the same problem, but the new build is out at www.m3dzone.com. I'll try it at home and let y ou know what gives just my 2 cents.

Do really well your "living the American dream" Do too well..... your a monopoly. Anyone seen Intel's business practices, AMD was able to make a better product. MS has been a little over agressive, but that is thier right, they are a business. It's like asking the Yankees to let someone win the World Series this year to help competition. This is the Tech market you gotta fight, not sue, your way to the top. When IE 4 came out it was a better product. All I'd like to know is, if they hadn't included any browser in windows, how were we to get one? the average user that is Just my 2 cents

I can't see how anyone expects Nvidia to support a company they bought that went outta business. They write drivers for thier technology not 3dfx's. And they have always supported thier old cards even back to the TNT. You can pick up a Radeon or A Geforce2 Pro for under 130 bucks. Wait till Xp comes out then see, if so upgrade or stick to 2000 till you do. My 2 Cents

I setup a system for my friend with this board, and I really liked it. So easy to use and setup. I didn't like the lack of Agp pro, had issues with that, and it ran at 53c. Now my MSI board and my 1.33 runs at 41c at full load. Course I have a better fan. I wish they made a DDR board like this I'd get it. My 2 Cents.

I think the differnece is that 32 bit slots run at 33mhz and 64bit run at 66 mhz. You can use Regular PCI cards in either

I have the same Raid chipset, tho a different board. Try to hit ctrl-h when the raid message shows during boot and then hit build array. If there is one, then delete it , then reboot and rebuild it. Hope that helps
