Is There any sound card that works in win2k really well ?
sapiens74 replied to imtim83's topic in Hardware
I got the Hercules Game Theatre with all my new stuff and it Kicks A@s in Windows 2000. Its 150 bucks tho so go if Santa Cruz if money is an object, if not the Hercules rules. Mp3's sound so much better, and games like Half-life the 3d sound is way better. -
When I went to my new Hercules Game Theatre I noticed a major difference in quality. I'm so glad I got rid of my old SBLIVE
-
Also try a Direct 3d game in there as well, like MDK 2 or something if you got it. I have had issues with my old Live and Open GL gmaes in particular
-
I'll try it on my Hercules when they send my copy of XP, but I cannot play DVD movies without shutting down CTFMON.exe running on my Hollywood card so I'll try it first, and let you know
-
Try the new patch that just came out. Also try other games than Quake 3 to benchmark and see if it is indeed the SBLIVE!. Try using low sound quality. If not pull it out and try another sound card if you got one, like an old sb16 or something. "I pity the Poor Fewl that Buys Intel"

"Seriously though, you would be have to be super-human to be able to tell the difference between 115fps and 140fps. Why don't you just leave it on the MAX setting and enjoy the high quality graphics?" DUDe it does matter, we want every last fps so when we are downloading ****, burning a cd and playing Q3 it won't slow down too much hehe. I'll quote myself "F@ck Creative! After 3 years they finally release half-a$s drivers. MY Hercules works great and sounds better. I know everyone doesn't have 150 bones to throw on a sound card, but I encourage you to boycot creative and get a Hercules, Santa Cruz or Philips sound card. Fu@K Creative, We all Deserve better"

F@%K Creative, the fact that you have to go through all that trouble to get drivers says it all. I just got my Hercules Game Theater XP in the mail F@$K Creative Gonna Pi@S on my SBLIVE!

I have an ASUS A7V and it lets me manually set the irq for each slot. I have the SBLIVE at IRQ 7 but it still shares it with my Geforce 3 card. Just my 2 Cents:D

How many here have had problems with a Via chipset?
sapiens74 replied to Brian Frank's topic in Hardware
I have an A7V and the SBLIVE and have had really no issues besides the locking up when certain files files were played. I honestly think the only major problem is the SBLIVE! and I think that mostly falls on Creative. I think VIA used to be just like AMD, and now that they are mainstream they offer good low cost alternative to INTEL. Notice the only 2 companies that have issues with VIA chipsets are NVIDIA and Creative. They have issues on any chipset. Anyways I think Via is a good solution, if you own a basic internet PC all the way to the high end gamer. Just my 2 Cents -
BlackIce Defender is broken under SP2!!! (Deja Vu)

When I first installed SP2 my puter crashed 3 times in a row with BSOD. Found out it was Zone Alarm Pro . Since the 3rd reboot hasnt happened since. Just my 2 Cents -
I have the same problem but I think it has to do with the way the website places the pics. If they are placed as a file then IE will save it as is. If they are placed as an HTML file or HTM file then IE saves it as a bmp. I know, it sucks, gotta convert all those Pregnant asian lesbian pics. Just my 2 Cents

I have had issues with mine but mostly caused by SBLIVE!. THe BX board was a sweet board but even Intel has had their problems. I just think its all the damn hardware configs and people rushing their products out the door. I got another via MB incoming. Via makes the perfect OC board, gives us a challenge Just my 2 Cents -
F#$k Linux My C64 was stable too, with about the same features

Just ordered the following items: MSI KT7 266 Pro Raid MB 2) 256MB PC2100 Ram T-Bird 1.33 GHZ I was wondering if they are any issues I should know about and is the AGP a little more stable on the DDR boards hehe. Just my 2 cents

No clue, I wanted to know the same thing. I might try to blow my GF2 up later so I'll let you know Just my 2 Cents

When I order my dual T-bird board, when it comes out, I probably agree with that. But in order to have dual cpu's you have to have 2 of the same kind, so vote on that. Just my 2 Cents

Although when 56k first came out and then the old 28.8 modems USR\3COM ruled. But their modems suck now with a capitol S. You ever try searching for 3COM drivers. I would swear by thier Lan cards but as for thier modems they suck. Go with Diamond Always been a damn good modem and easy to find drivers and support. Just my 2 Cents
