Is Windows ME Realible I would like to hear form users

I personally like it. Its good for a gaming rig. As to the Igor's Linux recomendation, Yeah it's stable allright. Thats cause it only supports 3 devices.. How gay..Linux is a good server OS not a good workstation OS. And I guess I'm a lame user cause i want features and compatabilty...which ME gives you. Although i do agree on Win2000 I dual boot incase something doesnt work in one or the other. -
Major Win2k problems! !!EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS!!

If it takes overclocking an older chipset without sych features as AGP 4x, Pc133 support or ATA 66 support to meet current standards then i don't want it. The chances of everyone hitting those FSB to even get that kinda performance are slim -
I installed the 4.22 official and got a black screen till i booted in safe mode and installed the Agp 4.03 driver. Now its faster than my Win98 config.. WTG VIA.....GRATS!!!

You know intel wouldn't have recalled the boards if it wasnt an issue. Companies like Intel don't do that until its the last resort. Times are changing get with the program. Never let personal bias get in way of a sound decision. What is the best most stable platform in the market for your needs. More and more people agree the Athlon everyday. I installed Win2000 without any problems at all with a KA7 and Athlon 750. Runs faster and more stable then the majority of Intel based systems. Ask 3fdx if 2 years ago they'd be the 3rd best video card maker. Things change in the computer industry like no other. It's time for Intel to start setting the standard again instead of trying to keep up with it. I wouldnt buy and Intel based solution...no because of biased toward AMD or Via but because its simply no the best offered. Thats my 2 cents but when Intel makes the best overall platform again I'll support them like i always have and Buy into...till then well they'd have to impress me with something other then Rdram Thats my 2 cents worth now back to EVERQUEST -

Just wanna respond to the gentleman that referred you to the intel based mobo solution. Which intel platform do you refer to....the one that was recalled or the one that uses RDRAM....the only 2 INTEL based platforms Aval to run at 133. Not much of a choice now is it [This message has been edited by sapiens26 (edited 02 June 2000).] -
Just wondering if anyone has tried using the new VIA inf file with the kx133 chipset. I tried the first one and got a blank screen on reboot so went back to hacked .sys file from Tom's Hardware
-
Well i didn't touch the manchine.inf file but just replaced the .sys file after running the inf file from via

I had same problem . Used the new inf and the hacked .sys file from Tom'd Hardware everything seems to work good now. Win2000 Pro AMD Athlon 750 MHz Abit KA7 Mainboard (newest bios) 384MB PC100 SDRAM Geforce DDR (Creative) 5.16 Nvida reference

Finally got the drivers out. Hopefully this will fix the AGP issue with the KX133 MOBO's. I'll let you know I have an ABIT KA7
-
I can login using their ip shown when downloading thier drivers. All hidden dir's though.

Get a new motherboard. Sorry to be brutally honest but FIC sucks. Especially SD11
-
Well these are the same 4 in 1 for 98 and NT. Wont let me install them under 2000.

When it does boot It works like a champ. When i reinstalled Win 2000 i just left it with no AGP support cause at least it works...for now -
Not to sound arrogant but why even run Win2000 then use AOL 5.0. Its asking for trouble...if anything can compromise stability it's AOL
