I had the same problem. Finally shut of the gama control in q3a by using the r_ignorchwgamma switch. Screen looks great...

So, does anyone know where to get the DirtectX 8.0 beta drivers without regeistoring as a beta tester? thanks
-
Ok, so DX7.0a does not exist for WIN2K. I am still stuck with a stick (Thrustmaster top gun, game ported) that only partially works -- buttons that cancel each other out and a pov that the system will no recognize. Since I can not correct the problem, I will correct the joystick. What are the rest of you using for a joystick in WIN2K? Do you think it's the best and if so why? Thanks

Another option would be to use the r_displayrefresh command followed by a vid_restart.

Thanks for the clarification. When I seen the URL I thougt we could reach out and download it....

I can tell you that on 2/22 a 3dfx tech post a message saying he was trying to find out when smp would be included in their drivers. A month later and 567 replies to the orginal message I still do not see anything about smp support being a reality. For more information check out: http://www.3dfxgamers.com message boards.

A joystick that is only kind of working is the whole reason for my interset in DX7a. With a non functional POV and buttons that cancel each out, it is really hard to to stay alive in Q3A. I have installed the latest SB drivers for WIN2K with no effect on the joystick problems. I tried running down the DX8.0 drivers at http://premium.microsoft.com/directx/. What I ran into was a notice page wanting to me to registor. No problem execpt for the fact the regestration page does not exist??? Any other place to get the DX8.0? Can they be installed in WIN2K? I started out with a 3dfx 3000 and never did get the thing to work using r_smp 1. The only thing it did for me was lock up the system. I replaced the 3dfx with a CL Annihilator Pro and can now run in smp mode. What I have not seen is any big inprovment in FPS. We are talking less than .5% gain. With the latest drivers I am at about 60 FPS with most options cranked up. ------------------ System Information ------------------ OS: Win2k Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Processor: Intel Pentium III (2 CPUs), 500MHz Memory: 256MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 7.0 (4.07.00.0700) Video Card name: 3d Blaster Annihilator Pro Manufacturer: Creative Labs Chip type: GeForce DDR Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (85Hz) Monitor: Iiyama A901HT Sound Card: SB Live! I ran the following report for win2k using DirectX Diagonistic tool ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 3/31/2000, 22:04:31 Machine name: ######## Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) Processor: Intel Pentium III (2 CPUs), 500MHz Memory: 256MB RAM Page File: 68MB used, 667MB available DirectX Version: DirectX 7.0 (4.07.00.0700) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.00.2134.0001 I can find no mention of DirectX 7.0a. System: SuperMicro MB P6DBE dual Intel 500 SB live sound card with game port Thrustmaster top gun 4 button with pov (game port) joystick Has anyone gotten a thrustmaster joystick to work correctly in win2k? Status on stick is "OK", but when two buttons are pushed at the same time they cancel each other out and the POV is unresponsive. I have recalibrated the stick many times does not help.... I just installed the win2k drivers from SB but it did not correct the problem. Everything works fine in win98 so not a stick problem. Any Ideas??? -jo
