    ICS between WinMe & Win2k

Is it possible to share a connection with ICS between Windows Millenium and Windows 2000? I've just built a computer for my brother (using WinMe) and I want his machine to host the internet connection, while I primarily use windows 2000. Can this be done with ICS or do I have to use some other program? Thanks in advance

    Windows 2000 SP2

Sorry, I don't have any hard facts that prove that ATA100 does work, but from what I've read on the net, this is one of the issues SP2 was suppose to fix. Prior to installing SP2, the HD controller was reporting my HD as running in PIO mode (which the hotfix took care of). Now, they are running in Ultra DMA mode so I assume that the more responsiveness of my system is due to this. I never bother with the VIA crap either. I have many boards that run ok with ATA100 even without SP2, but this is my first board with a VIA southbridge. I will never touch anything that uses VIA ever again.

    Windows 2000 SP2

I have SP2 installed for about 5 hours now, and my machine is still alive and well. The ATA100 support is definitley fixed now, and the system feels a bit more responsive than before. However, I havn't been able to test the gaming performance (I use Windows ME for that).

    Emergency Bios Recovery

Hi, Just phoned MSI and it looks like they might be able to send a new bios chip to the UK, although they said that the K7 Master is not released in the US yet so I'm waiting for a reply from them. Thanks again for the help, I'll let you know what happens.

    Emergency Bios Recovery

I tried plugging in the board again and it looks like the boot block is dead. The floppy light won't even come on. Looks like I need a new bios chip Any of you guys know where I can get one in the UK? By the way, thanks for the quick replies!!

    Emergency Bios Recovery

Please Help!! I just bought a MSI K7 master yesderday, and after setting up the operating system and everything, I noticed the bios was a bit funny as sometimes when I made changes to it, the bios crashed and would need to be reset. Therefore, I installed the LiveUpdate software and ran it. During the bios flash (it was in windows) an error message said "verify failed" and rebooted. Since then, the motherboard has been unable to boot. When I boot up now, the board just repeatedly produces a short beep, and I can see nothing on the monitor. I know the bios is probable corrupt but is there a way to recover from it? I tried to make an emergency recovery disk by making an floppy with awdf789.exe, w6341kms.100 and an autoexec.bat to run it, but it will not load it (the floppy light comes briefly while booting).Am I doing the right thing or is there something missing? I want to try and repait it myself before replacing it as I live quite far from the place I got it from. Please help! Thanks in advance

Whats yours expirience with IBM hard drives?

Before any of you guys throw away a crashed IBM hard disk, try the IBM tool from their website. My disk crashed twice from a faulty raid card and the Drive Fitness Test recovered the disk and even some bad sectors

    I will KA266-r problems

Don't worry, I've cured the probem now. It turned out that one of the hard disks doesn't work properly. The raid controller was able to recognise the drive, but when used on it's own, the drive just keeps crashing when I format it. Thanks for all the suggestions!

    I will KA266-r problems

I'm having problems with my new system, particularly the new motherboard. The main problem is that I cannot boot from the buitt in raid controller even though the drives are recognised at boot time. I also have a promise ATA 100 pci card that the system cannot boot from. I have tried setting the bios to boot from SCSI and RAID100 but the board seems to ignore any of these settings and boot from the normal IDE channels. Both of these devices are recognised in windows, it's just that they cannot be booted from. Please help!! Why say Sony CRX100E does not work under w2k?

They were referring to the external USB version Quote: Originally posted by jimmytim: My sony crx100e works perfect under windows 2000 pro. If the software cannot detect your hardware is because you do not have the latest aspi driver. Download from http://members.xoom.com/jimmytim/index.html

    Voodoo3 refresh rates

There is a way to change the refresh rate in the advance settings of the display propeties. If you look in the monitor tab, there should be a box that's labelled 'Hide modes the monitor cannot display'. Untick this box and you should be able tochange the refresh rates. This also lets you to change the display resolution beyond the monitor's capabilities.
