I just installed WinXP 2465 over win2k pro and I wen't to play diablo2 and it gets past the intro movies and its just black even after changing my drivers for my gts2 to 11.01 then 12.00 still doesnt seem to work. I also read in the whistler faq on the main page of this site that you can't install it over win2k? does that mean i should do a clean install? thanks for any help. -acid.

got it to work just had to turn Photoshops ram usage right down, was used to having it on 70% in winME. had to use like 35 otherwise it gets stroppy.

For some reason I can't have Adobe PhotoShop and anything else open or it just stops it from working and if im on IRC I get constant buffer overflows and it stops Mp3s in WinAMP. I need to be able to use Photoshop and still do other things at the same time. I have 128meg/PC133 SDRAM and the pagefile is set to 190/300. All drivers are current and latest bios is installed. Specs are: Duron 700 Asus A7V 15GB Samsung SpinPoint HDD Creative GF2 GTS Windows 2000 Professional 2195 + SP1 hope someone can help me, this is terribly anoying. Thanks -acid.

I thought id play Dungeon Keeper 2 again for something to do but it doesnt seem to wan't to run in Win2k, I read on this site that it should but it doesnt. I've got the latest compatibilty update(March2001 afik) and the 1.70 DK2 patch, the game still doesnt run, it just comes up with a busy cursor in windows then stops after about 10seconds. anyone got any ideas how to make it work? thanks -acid. ------------------ "If you can't see or hear it, does it still exist?" Ok. About 7months Ago I bought a TNT2.. it ran great when i first bought it and my quake3 fps in 8x6 was about 27. which is pretty good for my k6-2-300. And Half-Life ran fairly smooth to. But for some reason i've noticed that now im not sure how long its been this bad but, Im lucky to get 27fps in 640 in quake3 and half life gets 10fps in firefights in 640 with things turned off.. I was wondering if anyone would know why it would dramatically slow down this much? only things ive changed since the TNT2 was first installed is another 64meg of pc100 sdram(making 128), an sblive and a 15.3gb samsung hdd. I don't see why any of this would of made a difference. The only other thing I can see is drivers but to play newer games i need to use the newer drivers.. The only other thing i can think of is a bios setting or.. i did something to the mobo which is also unlikley.. I have formatted several times since so its not that.. if anyone can help please.. Specs are: k6-2-300 @ 333mhz gigabyte 5591 mobo SiS chipset Diamond viper 770 TNT2 non-U 128meg pc100 sdram 15.3gb samsung hdd, 3.2gb quantum fb hdd. 32x cdrom drive sblive value snd card thanks -acid.

I was wondering if theres a way to reset the way IE downloads, I accidently clicked 'always open' or what ever it says, and now it only downloads to a temporary folder and I can't choose the location this is major pain. thanks, acid. ------------------ -Acid

Well I noticed that AVP gold has been added to this site as working under win2k but Its not working for me, I get a "AVPgold.exe has generated errors and will be shut down" msg. So anyone know wtf is going on ?.... ------------------ -Acid

hmm im running a k6-2-300 @ 333mhz, Viper 770 32meg TNT2, 128meg RAM and the 5.14 drivers and Quake 3 runs perfectly fine. My page file is on a seperate partition with 192meg at its disposal. I don't see why the 5.13/.14 drivers arnt working for you everythings fine here. ------------------ -Acid

I agree they killed my sound in q3 and made some of my mp3's distort. ATM im just using the drivers that came with win2k... they work fine ------------------ -Acid

I was using the Live! ware for win2k drivers that were released last month I changed back to the win2k default drivers just before and the problems gone it wasn't there before though even with live!ware installed oh well no big deal i just couldnt live with ****ty q3 sounds.

Ive got a SBlive! Value card and i've had it for a while with no problems and the last few days it seems to be killing my Quake 3 sound, when I pick up armour it cuts out for a sec like it cant play more then one sound at once. Also with mp3's its adding what seems like extra bass to them and it distorts some songs a bit. Ive got Cambridge SoundWorks Speakers but my guess is that its the soundcard. Anyone else tried them? I think the 5.13 ones were a bit better I seem to get slight texture tearing in q3. no big deal but thats the only bug ive noticed so far.

Someone must know something? or at least own the game.

I know on the main site it says that Silver was working under Windows 2000, I cant currently get it to load it starts loading then just cuts out If anyones been able to get it to work id like to know. Im running win2k Pro. Ive tried using different users due to the admin bug with some games to no avail. I emailed Infrogrames but they wont help.
