Use a Win98 boot disk to boot from. Use the fdisk command to delete the NTFS partition. It will be listed as a non/dos partition. Create a new partition. It will default to Fat32. Format the drive. There ya go!

K, the game runs great on my PC at 1280X1024 while I am playing. The problem is when I try to quit the game and go back to the desktop my screen locks either black or grey with the music still going in the background. The only way around this is to ctrl-alt-delete and shut it down there. I should point out the game does this at at resolution. Anyone else have these probs? Win2k Pro V3 3500 Cel@541 Mhz SB Live Gravis Gamepad Pro USB 128 RAM

Wow really? I had to scale it back to 1024x768 now actually, seems the middle levels of the game are a little more graphically intense than the first levels. I get a steady 35 frames a second so it is really smoothe.

If compatability is your main concern get a P3EB with a BX motherboard. Abit BE6-2 rules!
-
Do these new beta drivers work with the 3500?

My V3 3500 TV tuner decided it didnt wanna work any more after I installed DX 8. All my games seemed to work the same as b4 I installed it(UT,Q3,Croc2). I had to reinstall Win2k Pro to fix unfortunately since there is no way to get it off after installing it. I wouldnt use it boys, your games arent any faster with it(my experience) and you're askin for probs, its crap!

Definitely the Abit BE6 or BE6-2. These are sweet boards.

I would like to try out NTFS. Can I convert from FAT32 to NTFS without formatting? If so how? Thanks in advance.
-
K, I just found out it's: convert c: /fs:ntfs from the prompt for anyone who is wondering. I've just gotten tired of those drive consistency errors on bootup. I had run NTFS with Win2k Pro before I had to format and never got those errors. [This message has been edited by Battleship (edited 20 May 2000).]

I can't believe nobody knows why Cd-Rom Drives Disappear fro
Battleship replied to Lynn Williams's topic in Hardware
Im with the last guy, this is definitely a hardware problem. Win 98 or Win2k dont even care if the software for the burners are installed they will still see them and recognize them as cdrom's. I would definitely start with the esay things first like replacing cables and I am leaning towards the problem being with the controller on the mobo being flaky. Ive only seen this once b4 and thats when a guy had his cpu massively overclocked causing the speed of the bus to be out of whack as well. The drives and the controller can sometimes have probs with these speeds. -
I couldnt even load a mission up, it kept booting me out to the desktop. I returned it to the store. v3 3500 128 megs of ram celeron@541

Bladerunner: I remember I checked everyday for the release of Livewire for Win2k when Creative said it would be out mid-march. Everyday I went to sblive.com and it loaded quick with no hesitation. The day it came out I couldnt get on because the site was swamped. I knew it was out by the fact it was so busy it was out. Kind of a catch-22. hehe

Do you have a microphone attached to your live card? If so try muteing it or taking it out and testing the sound quality. You can get some weird feedback from crappy microphones. Make sure the connector for line-out hasnt come a little loose.(It happened to me)Lastly if you just added a fan to your pc you might be getting a little interference from it. Thats all I can think of for now.

Maldoror: I play 3DDoom, a Direct 3d port of the game which was released about a week ago. It works with any version of the Doom games (doom1,doom2,ultimate) it simply needs a copy of the .WAD file that the doom games used. Pretty sweet actually, I can run the game at 1280x1024 at excellent frame rates with my Voodoo3 3500. I tried to put up a link to where I got the file but it seems www.3dfiles.com is dead now. If you want a copy of the file (600K) just mail me. BTW, the original Doom game unpatched or unaccelerated also works great at the Win2k command prompt.

Dont know about those particular games but I can play Doom at the Win2k prompt window. My mouse and sblive work in the game as well.

Sorry man, I tried to sign up as a beta tester for the win2k software for the gravis gamepad pro but as you found out the site is down at that point. Anyone have this software already and can share it with this guy?

K, Ive had enough of this game. I cant get the damn game to work with any configuration. See my configuration listed below. When i try to run the game in direct 3d mode at any resolution my pc locks up entering a level. If I try to run the game in software mode it boots me out to the desktop with no error. In other words I cannot run the game. Keep in mind I run Win2k Pro and all my drivers are the latest and I did like the games readme file tells to by doing the Windows Update thing. Ya, I couldnt get Power Management to work in Win2k Advanced Server either. I can get it to work in Pro no problem. This is not a power management enable thing from the bios. I dont know how you can say that the motherboard probably doesnt support Power management since you would be hard pressed to find a new motherboard that doesnt support this feature nowadays. Maybe Advanced Server just doesnt support this feature because the PC is meant to be a server and should not be going into suspend mode and should not be shuting down automatically because it is meant to be up all the time anyways.

I've heard of power supply problems with Athlons and GeForce cards. 300 Watts is almost a must when you have these 2 together. Im thinking your setup of 2 celerons is also a power supply hog.
-
I am thinking of getting one of these suckers to do some serious overclocking. I have a celeron 433 now running at 541 (83 Mhz bus) on a BE6. Problem is next bus speed up is 100 Mhz and it will not make that jump. I am also planning on getting a P3 running at the 133 Mhz bus in the near future and then overclock that more as well. Thanks

Money aside what are the differences between Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Do all the drivers that work in Pro work in Adv. Server and vice-versa? Gimme all the details please. :-) THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
