I jut recently installed Office 2K Pro. When I set up Outlook 2K it does not recognise me as being connected to the net and gives me the error "Unable to open your default mail profile, would you like to open the default folders instead", if I say yes it acts as though it is Windows Explorer, if I say no it closes. Any ideas on what is occuring here.

I just got DSL, now when I try to download, the download window pops up and disappears. It never ask me where to download, and the program never downloads.

I have Windows ME, now when I go to Play Unreal, or UT, I get a general Protection fault error, now I went to the Unreal website, they said to install Direct X off the Unreal CD to combat this, however ME comes w/ DirectX 7.0a (or whtever it is) Unreal comes w/ 6.0, will not install, when I was running 98 w/ DirectX7, it worked fine. Is there any way to get 7.0a off and go w/ the standard 7, or is 7.0a bound to ME?

I have a USB Dual Strike controller, in 98 it worked great, in ME however it does not work. When booting up Windows detects and installs the drivers for the controller. But after windows is booted it shows it as being a regular old gamepad, I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for it but still no go. Any ideas on how, or if I can fix it.

Advice request for dealing with potential hacker
Spastic Computer Guru replied to ryoko's topic in Networking
I work for a national ISP your ISP has to take action against this. Definitely contact your ISP and ask for a supervisor or manager, also ask for the mailing address of there coporate office and write them a letter. Whenyou start threatening to talk to there higher ups they have the tendency to help you out. -
Buy a Cyrix Processor if you are looking to heat your house.... Other than that my choice is AMD and always will be AMD.

Will mostly all games, software, and hardware ever work in wi
Spastic Computer Guru replied to imtim83's topic in Games
imtim83 If you act fast you can get an Athalon Duron 650 for as little as 60$. I am running a Duron 650 right now and it is overclocked to 900mghz, runs stable, one of my comrads here at work has the same processor and he claims his is running over 1gig. Just some info to maybe help you in your decision. As far as P3's are concerned I prefer AMD much better. -
Here is a sad situation Your line speed: 51.3 Kbps 6.3 K bytes/sec That is w/ dual T1's.....Granted there are about 1400 people in the company right now sucking away my bandwidth.

bootable CD images download
Spastic Computer Guru replied to Gambler FEX online's topic in Legacy OS
CrazyKiller is right, a brand new floppy drive is about 10$ at any PC place, if you do not have a computer store near you then you can go to Walmart and pay 15$ for one. Problem is then solved. -
I have an issue I can not figure out. Just bought a brand new PC w/ the Nvidia Geforce 2 MX AGP video card, when the PC first boots up and is going through it's Post sequence it returns a series of 3 beeps, then the screen stays black, the PC finishes booting, but no picture. I have put in a Voodoo 3 PCI, works fine, I put the Geforce into an older HP, works great, then I put it in another PC using the same Award Elite 4.51PG bios, same thing. Any ideas why it will not work w/ the Award Bios.

Nvidia GForce 2 Video Card
Spastic Computer Guru replied to Spastic Computer Guru's topic in Legacy OS
It is Gainward 5VPA board, not to sure what the other board was that the card did not work on, but it was the same bios so I am figuring that the BIOS is incompatible w/ the card. -
Windows ME has the new restore feature, is it better to use the built in restore feature or use 3rd poarty software for backing up the PC, and if 3rd party which software is best?

Nvidia GForce 2 Video Card
Spastic Computer Guru replied to Spastic Computer Guru's topic in Legacy OS
Actually figured it out, the Video card is incompatible. Went out bought a different AGP card works fine. The funny thing is though, the card worked on an older HP Pavillion 8250 series running 95, but would not run on a 98 or ME machine. -
I was just looking through my scheduled task on Windows ME, and I see PC Health Scheduler for Data Collection task in there that is scheduled to run every 10 minutes, what is this program for?

Oh No! Major Problem Upgrading to WinMe from Win2kAdvSer!!!!
Spastic Computer Guru replied to INFERNO2000's topic in Slack Space
Isn't that a downgrade? (says w/ an artificial confused look on face) not sure about the Playstation, but I have Windows running on my DreamCast, I to got bored w/ the mouse keyboard combo, and opted for the controller instead......LOL On a side note my PC is running the latest Windows upgrade, 3.1, it is great. -
I work for MSN tech, you would not believe the calls from idiots we get in here blaming Microsoft because they can not connect or get there mail, when you go into there PC and fix there frigged up issues (usually because they thought they had a clue and decided to change settings), it was Microsoft that went ahead and chaged everything not the user.....LOL, have to sit back and laugh at some of the idiots out there.

hahaha s.hitey windows2000 - no more slow games 4 me
Spastic Computer Guru replied to DavidNewbould's topic in Slack Space
Sorry to keep it going but I had to add my opinion here. Yes 2K is superior to 9x, however I have run all Windows since 3.1, and if you know what you are doing you can get any Windows (even 98) to run good (2K runs great), currently I am just running ME (for personal reasons, do not want to get flamed here), but I still agree 2K is superior, but w/ half a brain you can make all Windows run w/ out issues. -
Looking for AGP 3d card around $30
Spastic Computer Guru replied to INFERNO2000's topic in Buy, Sell or Trade
The 2 cards are pretty compareable, the major difference is the Voodo supports Glide (a 3dfx renderer) where as the TNT does not, but all games that support glide also support Open GL, or D3D, so it is all set, and hey the price is right. -
Looking for opinionated answers
Spastic Computer Guru replied to Spastic Computer Guru's topic in Legacy OS
I am drawing a blank here, where is the disable feature for Restore, I think I am just going to opt for a 3rd party program to make a backup, like Norton Ghost. -
If it is a stand alone PC, I think if you go into to control panels and then users you can set up different users for the PC. Not positive as I have never personally tried it. If it is a network then the users need to be configured on the PC acting as the server.

Hey four and twenty did you read the title of this forum, win9x/ME, therefor it is for 9x questions, if you do not want to answer them then don't, but why waste the time saying how much you hate answering the questions, it is on every post and quite frankly gets rather annoying.
