    WinLinux 2000

I got a reply from the WinLinux folks and they are going to have a version which will install and boot from within Windows 2000, seemingly within a few months. Good news for those of us who want to have both OS systems to fool with.

    WinLinux 2000

Has anyone been able to get WinLinux 2000 working under Windows 2000? If so, is there a simple patch to allow it to boot from within Windows 2000?

Flash Player 4 in W2k Problem

Alright, here is the link to the patch that fixes the problem! http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/ts/documents/ie_iod.htm I hope this helps all the people with this same problem.
  6. Thanks guys for posting this software! Unfortunately, it seems to only be for the Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel. Is there some other software in the package that can be used for the USB Precision Pro joystick?
  7. I can't get the Macromedia Flash player version 4 to install in IE5 under W2k. It will install the Shockwave 8 plugin but simply refuses to continue and load Flash! Anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it?
  8. Hi, Version 3 of the Sidewinder software won't install under Windows 2000, period. I've been trying to get the version 4 software from SOMEONE on this forum for two weeks, with no luck. Jaztec was going to send it or post it but he seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth. Will anyone help us by posting a link to their Sidewinder Profiler software version 4.0, so we can get our gear properly configured?

    DirectX 7 update

I tried the shortcut but it just leads to their sign up site. We'd need you user name and password. I don't know if you'd want to share those ...

    DirectX 7 update

How about posting it for us? I will beat having to reinstall W2k when just one file in DirectX goes south. Thanks, Todd
  11. Hi all, ALRIGHT!!! Sorry for the earlier post that didn't specify the game I got working When trying to run the Need for Speed 5 demo in W2k I was getting the error message: You have DirectX 0. Please install DirectX 7. Could not load ".\drivers\registryz" [Files=\real\patch3\pc\set3d.c, LINE=273] But now I have got the demo working! Eureka!! What was the problem, you ask? The darned colour depth! ARRGGGG!!! I have my desktop set to 24bit colour and the game apparently only reacts to 16 or 32bit colour depths. Once I dropped down to 16bit I could run the 3D set-up fine (Matrox G400 came up right away) it started just like that. Why oh why must these things be so arcane? Now I'm concerned whether the full game will run properly. Anyone had problems going from the demo to the full game on their W2000 set-up? -- Todd

    DirectX 7(a) in W2k problem--SOLVED!!!

Sorry about that guys and gals! I am referring to Need for Speed 5 under W2k. A lot of folks have had the DirectX 7 vs. 7a problem when trying to run NFS5 under W2k and it gave them the error message I posted above. But just reducing your colour depth to 16bit should solve it. At least it did for me.
