MS in their infinite wisdom posted a fix for an error message in their knowledge base but failed to make the necessary prg available except in the Win2K Resource Kit. I need "exctrist.exe" . OR I need a fix for error 3101 which says that the "sys can't read from NBT device". I don't want to shell out the $ for the RSK for which I only need the 1 executable. Thanks

If I posted this before please forgive me! No matter how i set "Remember folders view settings" or Use "Classic desktop/folders" i cannot stop the left (folders) pane from showing up every time i open control panel. Any suggestions out there? WCR

Lordlee, Install Recovery Console. Then manually set the HAL back to MPS Multiprocessor PC. OR Boot from the Cd and do an UPGRADE. It is a no-no to try to go Std to ACPI. The standard MPS install omits all of the ACPI support such as IRQ Steering stuff. MS has numerous KB papers on this subject. In point of fact, enabling ACPI doesn't really buy you anything except just that, advanced power management. So what?? If you've a desktop box are you all that concerned over a few watts of AC Mains power?? ACPI certainly does not provide any speed or other performance advantage. BFN WCR
