I suggest u wait til Nvidia leaks some XP drivers, ATI ones work like a charm, fixed all small issues I had
-
Congrats! I didn't know u had Pentium overdrive (otherwise it wouldn't work), ur PC is a hero standing against the sensless processor race that makes a PC obsolete as soon as you buy it *snif*
-
Windows 2000 can't run on a 486 no matter the RAM u have, it's for Pentium and higher systems
-
Well, sad but true, due to problems with the current drivers avilable for the nvidia cards (according to Blizzard) D2 doesn't seem to like them... can't wait for my brand new Radeon card
-
I have G400 Max and everything looks and works great (Matrox image quality does rock) and I don't even have problems at all with Diablo 2 D3D, good WHQL drivers they have. Wait for the G450 and the G800

Via 4in1 drivers are not for Win2K *oops*
-
It's just a driver update

Bka32... I must be the lucky owner of one of those K6-II with internal cache (*oooooh!*) which works perfectly with both WinDVD 2000 1.4 and PowerDVD 2.55 but then again I don't have any relative working in AMD so I guess anyone else with a decent mobo and a properly configured OS would get the same results: K6-II 450Mhz Epox MVP3G5 1.4 (april 2000) Geforce DDR Sblive player 1024 192 Mb RAM 100Mhz Pioneer DVD 103S Samsung UDMA2 HD (13 Gb) Win2K with all updates (no DX8/SP1 beta)

It's funny how people blame the first thing they have at hand when they don't know why things don't work. Well, my K6-II 300 Mhz played Matrix and all movies I've rented/purchased flawlessly on my Pioneer 103S DVD regardless of region or format under Win98 + PowerDVD 2.55 at 800*600

Well, WK2 is no intended for gaming although it works great with all games I have, however Windows ME is another world (yes it's Windows 9X world, I know), the performance in gaming is outstanding (I'm talking about WinME RC0+DX8 beta), for an instant I thought I had new CPU. Good thing is DX8 will be available for Win2K and that, along with Win2K service packs, will make Win2K users happier and help us to survive til Neptune is out

Epox MVP3G5 mobo is the best SS7 mobo by far and they are still releasing revisions and BIOS updates!

PowerDVD 2.5 works flawlessly on my system: K6-II 300Mhz QDI Titanium IB+ motherboard SBLive! Voodoo 3 3000 Pioneer 103S DVD Samsung UDMA2 HD (13Gb) Win 98
-
In my case the games I tried look great and perform just fine, however The Sims and Ultima IX run smoother than in Win98 K6-II 450Mhz on QDI Titanium IB+ mb 160 Mb RAM Voodoo3 3000 PCI 13 Gb HD (UDMA2)

I agree with you, people were so keen about a NEW Windows with the stability of NT + the gaming suport of Windows 9X that they jumped to Win2K without thinking about it twice but if companies will focus on developing drivers for Windows ME (which is FAST!)and there won't be DirectX 8 for Win2K, gamers will forget about Win2K soon. In fact, many ppl have Win2K just 'because WinME isn't out yet' so it's not worth for the game companies developing compatibility patches for Win2K. Most new (and not so new) games such as Q3, Ultima IX, Thief 2 and others run smoothly on Win2K (some of them perform even better than on Win98) so let's stick to them and wait for WinMe for full compatibility.

Get yourself Windows ME, Win2K is not meant for gaming and it won't get any gaming related updates. Just enjoy the games that work with the current patches. I'm using Win2K because of performance and stability reasons and all the games I'm playing perform beautifully but for those that won't work I'll stick to Win98/Me
