search for detonator on the front news page and then choose the 27.52 and download them from the German web page. nvreffix will work on these.

Can anybody tell me how to fix the refresh rate. I get 60hz in games with the drivers on the NTComp front page. nvrefix does not work of course. I have my monitor set to its brand, etc. How do I fix this problem with the new detonator drivers?

I think MS took out the optimal setting because people were choosing monitors with higher refresh rates than theirs could handle and then when their monitors blew up they were complaining to MS. There is always a reason why a company does not do something...i have found. I think it is sad that nvidea can't come out with a simple refresh rate setting inside the advanced display tabs. I think they are the losers on this one. -

I got the 27.70 drivers from the german website and nvreffix works on these and they look good and are stable as far as I can tell. My games nowplay at high refresh rates. Anybody who wants these can just search the news pages for detonator and will find the link for the 27.70 drivers. I use Win2k by the way. -
I know this stuff must exist, so what is the best hardware device to use for painting pictures or drawing on the computer. Like a usb pen and pad with pallette section etc. Also, how do companies draw stuff for games? Do they paint them and them scan the images or how does that work? Thanks. p.s. a mouse is obviously a terrible drawing tool.

thanks for the fast reply...I am checking it out now. Please if there are any other suggestions please post them.

nvreffix does not work with 27.42+ drivers so you have to use 60hz in games. In other words, bad idea.

I have noticed laately that when a game starts its opening video the sound will simple start crackling and fade out. Sorry if this has been covered before, but does anyone know a fix for this? I have tried different drivers. I have onboard VIA AC'97 sound. This is very irritating. I would buy a new sound card but this onboard souindchip seems to give other sound cards a fit...even if I turn it off. So I am stuck with onboard sound until I get a new board without sound. Thanks. I don't know a lot about encoding but if the new APEX dvd players will have wma support this year, what will happen to DivX. Will they be out of luck or will people be able to convert DivX to WMA or what? Just curious if there are some experts out there who can comment on this.

I tried XP, and am experiencing packet loss while playing online through my isdn router. I was using win2k and had not had any trouble. I had experienced this same phenomenon when win2k first came out until SR1 which fixed the problem. My pings are still low but while I am playing the response is a bit behind the game and slightly jerky like I am playing through a proxy server or running 2 games of quake2 simultaneously. Does anybody have any ideas. I did read one post about setting the network card to 10 or 100 instead of autodetect and will try that in case the card is constantly switching back and forth for some reason. Thanks. went back to Win2k and everything is great again. Have a nice day.

I know everybody is overclocking and I know it works well for many people, but I must throw in the fact that things can begin to break and burn-up as you start running things out of factory specs. I have personally burned up lots of things screwing around, including cards and motherboards. Goodluck, but don't be surprised if your curiosity gets the best of you.Not a flame, just some good sense.

I have a P2-350 128M GeForce2mx cheap card and Serious Sam is the fastest running game I have seen. The engine is beyond Excellent in my point of view if you compare it to everything else that has come out. I would say the developers have created a masterpiece and I would have to agree that your K6 is probably your problem because this game ROCKS! I must get a100fps, thats how smooth it is on my old crappy processor.

i have a 3d blaster Annihilator 2 MX and have had zero trouble with it and i play everything and anything from games to apps and the card is cheap.I would have recommended 3dfx until they went out of business, as well as Aureal for their sound cards until they went out of business(continuous support from both).Creative sucks for support tho', if you were to ever need it.."don't call us, and we won't call you either", but luckily the video card i bought works flawlessly with intel and via chipsets under win2k and 98 and whatever else.

Can anyone recommend a sound card to be used under Win2k to create high quality professional recordings that include both live, and midi or sampled tracks.I had played around with cheap sound cards but found the reproduction quality to be terrible. I would like to still be able to play games, etc. Thanks

What is the best path to becoming a network engineer. Many of my friends are making over a 100,000 a year in this field and many of them started answering phones at isp's.I am seriously considering entering this field.Could anybody guide me or give me some advice regarding this. Ihave a few options that I am thinking about: 1. go to Tech school 2. learn on my own and take all the certification tests. 3. go to a University. 4. beg for a JOB as an intern for virtually no money. This is a serious question..please let me know if any of you have any advice. Thanks.

To be honest with you, I bought Cakewalk 8 a long time ago and tried it with my Vortex cards and just never got the sound I was looking for.Midi sounded like a Casio keyboard and I could'nt record very many simultaneous live tracks so I just stuck with my analog Tascam recorder. I know there is a program called Giga sampler that says it requires a special type of sound card and I think that is what I am after. I play keyboard and guitar and would like to be able to write bass lines inside of a program with notation and have the bass played back from samples and then layer digital drums and live guitar and vocal tracks and be able to manipulate all of this on the fly.I am not a professional song writer..just an old amateur who loves music, so superior quality is not the MOST important thing but I would atleast like to be able to reproduce a believable digital sound that will atleast match the quality of my Tascam analog recorder. Thanks

THANK YOU! EVERYBODY! Anyone else who has something to contribute, will be appreciated as well. There is a ITT school close to my house, and that is a possibility. I am 35 years old and everything I own is paid for so money is not an issue even though my wife may disagree My father is a Computer Science teacher at a University and he says that company's will look at you with with one eye closed when you tell them you have a tech degree and nobody will respect you unless you have a BS.I tend to disagree. All the real people I have met on the road in my life who have entered networking have all done very well(making atleast 30,000 up to 110,000). Can anyone else say something good about ITT(the school), because I really do not want to have to go back to college and take all the bogus filler courses like library technology and political science(my apologies if I have offended anyone) Thanks to all who participate..

I was going to get a turtle beach santa cruz..but another poster said its recording quality was terrible. This led me to consider searching for a super high quality recording and reproduction sound card. If you are using a good card please let me know..would like to burn demo cd's for kicks and giggles..you know we all want to be a star. I just need to write one song for the Backstreet Boys and i'll never have to work again...NOT!

Office XP appears to be a very CRANKY program. If your considering this product, I would stick with Office 2000..it is much more stable..but what do I know.Anybody else have this response?

NTCompatible.com will probably be able to solve all of your problems or give you a straight answer. This is the most informative and knowledgeable forum and database anywhere in the world in regards to Win2000. The people here are very helpful and knowledgeable, even if it appears that the boards can get a bit nasty at times

try taking all cards off your pci bus except the raid and video(if its pci), and then try booting to see if it starts..may be a conflict with another card..and if that doesnt work try a different slot.check hardrive connections to make sure they are attached properly.you have probably already tried this
