I have a digital camera that uses floppy disks. I can read the pictures off the disk but when i go to reformat the floppy, the only option is FAT, and my camera wants a fresh FAT32 floppy every time.Any software out there to overcome this problem.Partition magic does not do floppies. Am I lost or does this not make sense.When I format on win98 computer, no problem.Format FAT on win2k and no go in camera.Thanks!

UPDATE....I tried reformatting a disk this morning in my win2k machine and the digital camera was able to read it. I guess it must be due to poor media quality or the camera is very sensitive or something.It was the same disk i had tried to format the other day. I guess when you use the same disk over and over the formatting may become unreliable. Thanks everyone for replying!

This may be old hat, but i noticed that some games would launch in a small square inside of a black square on my monitor using the 1.04 drivers.I tried with dx7 and then updated to dx8 and both had trouble. I then isolated the faulty drivers as being the 1.04 3dfxOGL.dll and glide3x.dll.I personally had trouble with the oni demo and xplane.To solve this problem I installed the 1.04 drivers then ran the voodoo frequency selector(http://www.tdfc.de/english/products/index_soft.htm)for 1.04 drivers.I then extracted the 3dfxOGL.dll and glide3x.dll drivers from the 1.02 driver kit and placed them in my WINNT/System32/ directory. Voila, no problem.If anyone knows how to make the 1.04 drivers work correctly let me know.For now this is all i could do. Just thought i would share this information with all my fellow voodoo 3 owners who have been shagged by 3dfx and their poor management.I must say the driver team at 3dfx was great and there were always new drivers to download even if they sucked

thanks for the tip..i was going to say that my quake 2 runs much better with the 1.04 drivers,but runs crappy with the 1.02 so this will solve my problems,i'll just put 3dfxOGL.dll and glide3x.dll in my xplane directory. I wonder if the drivers have to be with the executable game file or just the root directory of the game? I'll figure it out. Thanks!

when SR2 comes out all the stuttering problems will be gone in win2k. This is a fabulous update for win2k

try getting the latest mouse drivers for your mouse for win2k, get dx8, get latest video card drivers, and when SR2 is released all your troubles will fade away then win2k will truly put win98 into the toilet

I have a P2 350 and voodoo3 and have 128m ram. I was told that win98 won't use more then 128m.Does this mean that if Q3 is started under win98 and I have 256m of ram it will not access it? I have switched to win2k now, and I still have 128m ram and am wondering if i will achieve a noticeable performance boost by increasing ram to, say, 256m or higher. Will Q3 and other games access this extra ram instead of the pagefile or does this only occur if the software writers give the program the option to access as much ram as is available or needed? Sorry if this question is moronic or has been asked before. Thanks

I would try finding older drivers for your card or try re-downloading or re-installing the drivers for your card. I use a USR Sportster 128k isdn card and play every game imaginable online and have never had trouble. You might have to locate all the .dll's and delete the inf file. If it turned off at random times I would guess a hardware or phone connection problem but since you have stated that the connection drops when you close the game I am inclined to think it is a software issue. My drivers for my isdn card have corrupted themselves for no apparent reason before, so try re-installing or using different drivers for your card and also try setting up your dial-up connection again.A fresh connection.Hope this might help, although you have probably tried this already.

make sure in your internet explorer under tools..internet options..connections..settings..advanced...that the box is not checked that says disconnect when connection is not in use. this may be your problem.

yeah, it works poorly too...the most aweful performance. I had to remove the sidewinder in order restore functionality to my other games. The sidewinder drivers in win2k are aweful and you'll know it when you try them.I spend $60 on a ms sidewinder 3d pro and get no support from MS for win2k Thanks Bill.

Opera would be the best if it shared winsock, but Netscape sucks..slow as hell and does'nt load pages correctly. IE is the best.

My ping is low in Quake2, via internal isdn card, and the frames are smooth in win98, but when i go online in win2k my Quake2 frames stutter, like there is lag for some reason even though i get the same low ping.Quake2 does'nt stutter in single player, so it is related to online play in win2k. Great news. 3COM has beta drivers available for this card to work in Win2k. They are not public, but if you call support at 1-847-262-6200 they will email them to you, and yes they work! both channels...I will not make them available because they are not public and I do not know if they ever will be but call them and they will help you.

I'm sorry, let me say that I did have to add the card using the add new hardware icon and then choosing network adapter and adding the sportster 128k listed in the menu.Hey, also, if I remember correctly i think it demands irq 5 in plug and play mode.maybe not though.something else to look into. I'm no pro, just suggestions.might try freeing irq5.

make sure your jumpers are unplugged, there are two on the card. this enables plug and play and then you could try turning on all your services. I installed the drivers easily and w2000 found the card right away and then i set up dial-up networking with no problems.My w2000 install was a full install.I had not modified any settings and it sounds like, in your case, the registry is making a call that is not answered.I think there was a European version of the usr 128k also which may be your problem. keep dink'in and you should get it to work.I would also try the card in 98 and do the hardware test included with the driver software and make sure the card even works. Adaptec software is crap. If you must use Adaptec, use the old software 3.5..something it seems to be stable, but i have had all kinds of anomalies and coasters using Adaptec 4.0 or greater. The stuff just self destructs over time. Use Nero, WinImage to bust ISO's, and Fireburner for bin files if needed. Just a suggestion. I have went as far as reinstalling windows just to get my HP burning properly again.

stay with Win98SE for games, Microsoft screwed up Millenium and it blows on certain games which will no longer run and Windows 2000 needs better driver support.

Anybody know if 3com, usr are going to make windows 2000 drivers for this modem or if anybody knows how to get the NT drivers to work in windows 2000. Thanks!

I have run Voodoo cards forever and have never had trouble with any game or O/S and have been totally satisfied with 3dfx fixes,patches, and driver updates. They are on top of everything. I want to buy a GeForce2 card now because everyone says how wonderful they are.....if they run. Does anybody have any insight into this.Everything I read everywhere describes all the trouble everyone is having getting their games to run. Is there any hope for this card or should I just crawl back to "old security" and get the voodoo5 for 32bit operation.

I had the same problem once.HP7200 and started getting burn problems on everything I tried to burn and I knew the images were good. Problems with all software, adaptec ezcd, cdrwin, nero, u name it. I think something gets corrupt in windows. had to reinstall windows and the problem vanished. all images burned perfectly then. thought i had a harddrive virus but did'nt because all images were good after reinstall. i am not a programmer but i tried reinstalling all applications, aspi, etc. to no avail. reinstalled windows and everything was perfect. Goodluck! wish i could help more.

They should have made a movie beginning with ACT I Cinematic. Absolutely awesome! The voicing, animation, ambient sounds, etc. deserve an academy award. Truly the best cinematic I have ever witnessed in a game. Hats off to the Blizzard crew. I know this does'nt belong here...forgive me...but...ohhhh..the EVIL......ha ha ha

i have a 3com Sportster 128k internal and i will NEVER..NEVER..NEVER.....EVER... buy a 3COM or USROBOTICS product ever again. There are no Linux or Windows 2000pro drivers nor will they ever make them and they will attack anyone who tries. This company SUCKS and does not care about their customers. I paid good money for my Sportster 128k internal ISDN TA and i did it blindly trusting the company.Never AGAIN! name.BAD...BAD..BAD..idea. Goodluck finding a driver for this card.

Microsoft's own gear sucks. I have a sidewinder 3d pro and it has been nothing but s--t with most games. I dont know why microsoft cant make their own gear more compatible with their own products?People dont seem to have as much trouble with other makes.
