    I have modem troubles.

The default XP drivers work just fine.

    I have modem troubles.

That modem seems to lack any sort of NT support. Personally, I have a Lucent Winmodem and it works fine under ME, 2000, XP and 9x.

Anybody give SOF 2 a spin yet?

The AI is kinda cheap. Like it was mentioned, I found that grass thing annoying. Sometimes, I am right in front of the guy and use my shotgun and nothing happens, need 2 shots to take him down. Gore is down, and I do believe the graphics are not that great.

Just need some video card driver opinions

Detonator 23.11 worked the best under 9x or 2000/XP for me with my GeForce2MX.

    DirectX 8.1 under 2K Server

Try up[censored] the chipset drivers. Reinstall the AGP part.

    MovieMaker Win2k

If you are going back to Windows 2000 wouldn't you already know if it had Movie Maker or not? Off the top of my head I don't think it does.

    Radeon & XP Professional

LOL, yeah even though the card works fine now and installs fine by removing the S-video, it could still be a problem later. ATI told me to RMA my Rage 128 Pro and get it fixed. But by then I bought a Hercules 3D Prophet 2MX cuz I hated the frame rates on that Rage 128 Pro.

    Radeon & XP Professional

I used to have an old Rage 128 PRO that would lockup the Windows 2000 install. I then used to install my old 2 MEG PCI video card, install Windows 2000 and then place my card back in and all would be fine. This issue may still effect Windows XP (being close to Windows 2000 and all) and newer ATI cards as well. However, I recently got an ATI Radeon 8500 LE and was able to install both XP and 2000 without a hitch. Ask ATI tech support to see if this issue affects Radeon cards too.

SB Live and Unreal Engine Games

My VIA southbridge is 686A, I thought the bug affected the 686B.

SB Live and Unreal Engine Games

It is possible, however, this issue only comes in Windows XP, not Windows 2000 or Windows 98/ME. I tried using the same drivers from 2000 but still nothing. It must be a driver issue under Windows XP.

    PSU Issues?

I just installed a new Western Digital 80GB 7200 RPM disk along with a Radeon 8500 LE, the components work fine, but I am wondering if I need a bigger Power Supply. I currently have 250-watts. Before I was running only a 20GB 7200 RPM Maxtor along with a GF2MX. I know the GF2MX wasn't very power hungry but with a Radeon now, I may need more juice. The computer seems stable, but I have had the odd IE window crash, and sometimes the computer stops responding while in Windows or takes a long pause before going on to another operation. Any thoughts on this?

    PSU Issues?

AMD Athlon, Asus K7V 512 MB PC133 RAM Western Digital 80GB 7200 RPM LG 52X IDE CD LG 32x/10x/40x IDE CDRW ATI Radeon 8500 LE USB Joystick, USB Lan Realtek 10/100 LAN SB Live PS/2 Keyboard, Serial Mouse Floppy Disk drive Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000 The computer seems to be running just fine now, no lockups or anything. I just installed a case fan, and need to get a USB mouse too. Does anyone know how much power USB devices take? As it is though, I still feel 250 is kinda small, I'll be adding in a 20GB 7200 RPM Maxtor HDD in later as well.

    P4 System??

Asus P4B533-E, Intel 845E, DDR, 6 PCI, RAID, Firewire, and USB 2.0. There is value, stability, Asus reputation, Intel/Intel combo, how can you go wrong with this?

    P4 System??

You may want to consider the SiS 645DX based boards like the Asus P4S533, they support DDR333 and are damn fast. Plus they are cheap. They lack some newer features like USB 2.0 or Firewire onboard, but you can easily add these features, if you need them, with an add-in card.

Games on Working List - Not Working for me in Win2k

I completely understand your stance. In fact I used to buy ATI cards all the time, but their driver support sucked, so I dumped them. However this week I intend to pick up an 8500 Radeon, cuz I think ATI has managed to do a lot better now with drivers and I am going to give them a chance again. The GeForce2MX I was using was running just fine, its just too slow for me now.

Games on Working List - Not Working for me in Win2k

Glad to help. As for the video, it was just a suggestion, personally, I am not a hardcore fan of Nvidia or ATI, I try all the companies.

Guys which of these mice are best for FPS's?

I use a generic 5 dollar PS/2 piece of crap, but hey I win many rounds of Q3 with it.

    My list of NTCompatible games

Hey Dosfreak, are you still working on getting that compatibility technology out of XP and put into 2000?

Games on Working List - Not Working for me in Win2k

NFS: PU has been discussed alot here. There are several options you have, search the boards and you'll find some answers. Check the NTCompatible game list as well. For me personally, deleting gimme.dll fixes the problem. Others say adjusting the Swap file if you have more than 256 megs of RAM. You should get a new video card, even if you don't play a lot of games. You can get a low cost GeForce2MX, GeForce4MX, or Radeon 7500 for dirt cheap prices and acceptable performance which would be better than your Voodoo.

    CDRW weirdness

Do the usual things, check to see if it still is being selected as "Use DMA if available" Check the BIOS and set the IDE drive to AUTO. Reinstall your chipset drivers.

    DirectX - NT4

Have you ever noticed that each MS OS has just 1 thing that is annoying sometimes. Windows 2000 is in my opinion the best, but 1 annoying this about is the compatibility with some software titles. Windows XP fixes that compatibility problems, but the whole activation, and bloatware make it less snappy than 2000, in my opinion. Windows NT lacks that DirectX support people wanted. You could throw in AGP, Plug and Play, FAT32, and USB as well. Windows ME, this thing lacked some refinement and stability, didn't have some of those changes that Windows 2000 gave us, [ie. Mouse shadow]

    Future Intel Chipsets?

When is Intel going to release a chipset that supports DDR333/DDR400? I was looking forward to the 845E but it doesn't support DDR33 and the 845G only supports it unofficially. Damn Intel, I really liked that new Asus P4B533-E motherboard, but its slow without 333MHz DDR, and I am hesistant to jump on the SiS bandwagon. Also when will Intel incorporate AGP 8x into their chipsets?

    Future Intel Chipsets?

Asus A7V333 with RAID and an Athlon XP 1900+ seems kinda cool? Plus its cheap.

    Drivers keep going missing

Seriously? If they are imaginary do they still show up in device manager?
