I need help for a project at work. We have 30+ printers that we are connecting to a computer so that our customers can load a pic from a floppy or CD and then print it out on whichever printer they are looking to purchase. I want to set up a print user account with permission only to the CD ROM the floppy and printers. I would set file associations and things like that. I have to forbid any other settings that could change the wallpapaer or screen saver. I don't want "I have a huge c*ck" flashing on the screen saver just because the local 8th graders seem to think its hilarious. Thanks guys, Sparkhard

If you are looking for dual CPU mobos then i woould suggest going to www.2cpu.com and checking out some of the hardware there to see what would best fit your needs. Good Luck, Sparkhard

When it is installing windows and it asks to install a RAID driver. Hit F5 and install the ACPI Multiprocessor HAL. If that doesnt work then post the specs of your CPUs and make sure you arent running mixed FSB CPUs or something wierd like that. I also noticed that you originally said all of this happens at the setup screen. so does that mean that you reinstalled windows ? Good Luck, Sparkhard

Ok, here is a rundown on my system lately. I had been running XP. In XP everything was seemengly messed up. Randomn freezes and problems with XP reading my drives on my Promise 66 card. The frezzes I thought were from maybe cooling, but i would have RC5 running and then play a movie on WMP at the same time. After the movie would be over for well over an hour the damn thing would lock. So i assume that if it would overheat then it would do it while that **** was running. There are a bunch of things in the GUI that i didnt like as well. (but thats another thread) I am running 2 1.1Ghz P3 cumines. And the Tyan BIOS doesnt have the correct microcode. Anyways, with my 2x 1.1ghz in my tiger i formatted and installed 2k. The install went fine. Then when i get into installing my hardware and DLing updates from MS i start to get wierd restarts. (the restarts were probably just BSODs because i forgot to uncheck the "restart on error thing" ) So i took out my Promise card and ran it for a while without it installed. Then i got this message while playing a game. (0x0000412.0x06807000.0x012c2782.0xC0502000) Memory_Management. Ok, ive never seen that before. So i figured out that the promise card couldnt have caused that error so I put it back in. Then I was just doing a few things (like typing this thread the first time) and playing a song on winamp while AIM was running (Just everyday stuff) and I got this message. (x5E50D204.0x0000002.0x0000000.0x804488DE) IROL_N_L_O_E. 804488DE Base at 80400000, Datestamp 3ad7ad60 - ntoskrnl.exe I have no idea where to begin on these. I have since took out my 2x 1,1ghz and replaced it with my single P3 550. (with the idea that the invalid microcode might be causeing this crap) But that didnt solve anything. I got the same " ntoskrnl.exe" thing again. I have gone back to Det 3s on my GF2 (i remember CS not locking up with those, but im not sure) And i have tried putting my SOUND, Promise, and NIC . in different PCI slots and switching them around. I still get the BSODs and i am waiting for it to happen as i write this. I have set failsafe and default settings in the BIOS and nothing helps, this seems to me to be something wierd with the 1.1ghz chips and it infected the install to where putting the 550s in there wouldnt help. (of course i have no idea WTF i am talking about in the CPU microcode thing, i am just assuming) I will try re-flashing the BIOS and see if that helps with the microcode thing. Can anyone tell me what those BSODs mean ? And can anyone give some advice as to what else i could try to fix this. I have the same damn thing happen to me and i am on a T1. It has really been pissing me off. I am gonna email MS (like thats gonna do $hit) and tell them whats happening and there has to be a fix for it.

Try going to voodoofiles.com and looking for the 3rd party drivers by a guy named Amigamerlin. I have a 2000 and a 3000 running in XP with this guys drivers and TV out works fine. Good Luck, Sparkhard

I had a 350W Sparkle, when this happened to me.

How long does it wait to crash. I ahd this same problem, It was a combination of a few things. mine would lock up right after i picked a skin in CS. i found that this was attributed to a CPU cooling problem, (i have a SMP rig so this is more of a prob for me). Then it would still do it randomly when a lot of shooting was going on. THAT was because of my SB Live and PCI slot placement. So far i have been ok but i will be getting a new soundcard soon.

Umm, because his target partition is drive C: and last i checked you cant partition the drive that windows is installed on while you are running windows.

Ok, your idea sounds good. But you may run into a few problems. First of all, if your primary partition and extended partition are NTFS then you wont be able to just format them with 98. Win 98 wont recognize the NTFS partition to format, and since you have to install win98 first your kinda screwed. you will have to fdisk and then delete the primary partition. BUT you cant delete a primary partition while you have an extended partition on the same drive. SO you have run into a bit of a conundrum here. You MAY want to try and reinstall win2k and see if it can format it back to FAT 32. then after it is all FAT32ized format it again and then install 98. But i have never done this and it may not work. See if partition magic will do it and try to find a copy. But to fix your messed up install you may want to do a win2k upgrade over the existing 2k install. That may be the safest route. Anyone running the Fortissimo 2 ? i have a SBlive now and i am sick of all this hsit. "the chirps, the crackles the lockups" I will be running this in a SMP system and was wondering if anyone had any feedback. I will be using it for games and with 4 speakers. Thanks, Sparkhard

that means that win2k doesnt see it as a valid option. You will have to reinstall 2k and do the F5 thing. I hope that ACPI fixes your power down problem. Good Luck. Sparkhard

Yeah, One of the things they said was faster in XP was the boot time. I think the reason we have different results is because of the style of testing. They are benchmarking REAL WORLD office apps and such. We are comparing those to games and boot times. I mean, come on, somebody could do a game compatibility benchmark against 2000 and make XP blow win2K out of the water. But a large company isnt interested in games, and this was targeted towards companies who may look into upgrading to XP. They would spend a lot of money for an OS that would be slower "for them". But nevertheless it was interesting.
