    XP did not install ACPI?

Try this, goto Device MNGR, click computer and goto properties. update the driver and choose to select "choose from a list of devices" (or something like that) see if ACPI Uniproc. is an option. If it is then choose that. BUT I WARN YOU. if this doesnt work you will probably have to reinstall. So try that first or just reinstall and hit F5 when it asks for the third party SCSI. Good Luck, Sparkhard
  2. The same things have happened to me, I dont have a fix yet but im trying to figure it out. I have the same VC as you do but there are ppl that have other Video cards and they have the same problem. Although I found that the problem didnt happen as much with the 21.85s. Regards, Sparkhard

    someone help. MPS in XP

Ok, I currrently have 2k and XP dual booted. I wanted to try XP out before I abandon my trusty 2000. In Device Manager my computer is listed and MPS multi processor PC. When i try to change the Driver the only options i get are MPS uniproc. and Standard PC. No ACPI MULTIPROCESSOR or any other flavors. AT ALL I want ACPI, is there a way to force ACPI ?? Also, when i play CS or Quake I will get random freezes (but thats another thread,) Could my CS freezes be attributed to the MPS ? and can my lack of kernal options be because i am DUAL booting ? here is my system specs. I have a Registry hack the forces DMA. you can try that but i have to tell you to use it at your own risk. I had a friend that had this same problem //diff. mobo.// and this fixed his. 9. Hi, I am setting up a file server for my dorm. it will be a P3 450 with 256MB 30GB . It will be running on an 8 port switch. All of the stuff is generic crap (except for the switch). But it will do its job. This used to be my roomates old personal PC and i know for a fact that all of the hardware is 2k compatible. So my question is. What OS should i run on it. Should i get NT 4 server or 2000 server or maybe Mandrake. I dont know enough about the server versions of NT and 2000 to make a decision. So if you guys could give me some suggestions for and OS ( AND WHY YOU SUGGEST IT) I would appreciate it. Should i get win2k Server or could i stick with 2k Pro. what would be better (if either would be) and what are the differences. Any pros/cons ?? any reply is appreciated. Remember i know that the hardware is compatible in NT systems. And I will have to be able to run Halflife/Counterstrike. Thanks a bunch guys, Sparkhard

nayone have a link to get those drivers ?
  12. I recently came across an old Adaptec ISA SCSI card (AHA 1522A) And windows 2000 doesn't seem to have the drivers for it. On the adaptec website they show that for NT 4.0 users that the Drivers are in the OS. But there isnt any mention of Windows 2000. SHould i assume that windows 2000 has the drivers built in it like NT 4.0 or should i throw away the dream of getting this old SCSI card to work ? Thanks for any replies/suggestions , Sparkhard

    Promise Ultra driver err msg

I have the Promise UDMA 66 controller. Ive seen that exact message in my event viewer since ive installed 2000. It doesnt seem to affect the cards perfomance so i never worried about it. Ive ran this card on 3 different MOBO's and ive gotten the same message on all 3 of em. Im glad that you posted about it because i always wondered if other ppl had the same problem. i would jsut let it be.(plus there isnt much you can do about it.) IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW!! Good Luck, Sparkhard

Here's a good way to screw up your system.

I hear that. Every time i have installed Norton it has always done more harm than good.

GeForce2 GTS TV out function in Windows 2000.

Go into your display propertioes and then goto advanced properties. then click the GEFORCE 2 GTS tab. you will then see a button that says ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES. then you should see a Tab that says "Output Device" . Then you should be able to see the TV option. it wont be available unless you have the SVideo plugged in. if this doesnt work then let me know and i have another thing you can try. Good Luck, Sparkhard
  16. Ok, I just got my MSI i815 Pro and my Leadtek winfast Geforce 2 GTS Pro. When i play games like THPS2, Madden 2001, Hitman , and Half Life i get these little white "blips". They look like little white flashes that come up randomly. I am currently using the 6.49 dets. and i have tried damn near every other detonator version. I also have a Tiger 100 with this same Video card and same problem. THe Tiger 100 uses the 440 BX and the i815 Pro uses the 815 (no $hit). ANy help is appreciated. Oh and i have tried it with DX 7, 8 and 8a. Thanks, Sparkhard

    Voodoo3 OpenGL

Post some system specs. you shouldt be getting 100 fps with that card. The MOST i got with my Voodoo 3 3500 was 60 (of course this was at 1154x960). You will probably get around 30-50 on 1024 with the voodoo 3 2000. If it skips to hell to where you cant play it then something else is wrong. Does this only happen in Ogl ? oh, and dont forget the system specs. Sparkhard

    Voodoo3 OpenGL

Ok, you have a Voodoo3 2000, I own the same card. You are getting great framerates for that card. What resolution are you running it at. I crank mine up to 1024 when i play CS. Stick with those drivers and install a little program called wicked GL. You can get it from www.wicked3d.com . that should give you a little more speed and smoothness. Good Luck, Sparkhard

    Go to GeForce2?

i am with erichui . But if you must upgrade head over to www.sharkyextreme.com and read their video card review. The Leadtek and ASUS brands are the best GTS models. I have a leadtek GTS myself and my good friend has the ASUS. They are great cards. sparkhard [This message has been edited by Sparkhard (edited 08 March 2001).]
