Oops, I was wrong. To schedule Windows Defrag in Win2k, go to the program. Then go to the Action menu, and click Set It and Forget It.

I wouldn't recommend using Microsoft's Defrag program. It takes so long that one job won't finish before the next week comes along. Ok, so maybe I exaggerated, but not by much. I'd suggest using Norton Speed Disk or Executive Software's Diskkeeper. If you insist on using Microsoft's Defrag utility, go to Windows Help and open the topic "Defrag." The switches are listed under that topic in Windows XP, and I would assume the same for Win2k.

I've found that the best way to fix this problem is to log off and log back on again. It only takes a moment, and everything will look like it did the last time you logged on.

I found this site right after I realized that Windows 2000 was not perfect (Late 2000).

On a few positive notes: The Santa Cruz drivers work fine with IRQ sharing, particularly now since 3dfx released new drivers for the Desktop TV. I haven't tested it, but it seems likely that the drivers would not conflict with hibernate; they do work with Suspend. With my PIII 600, 256MB RAM, the Santa Cruz has never shown intense CPU usage. The sound output options are fully customizable, and will not change once you set them. I warn you, though; some programs are known to change the volume without user consent. This of course, is independent of the sound card you have. One other thing about the Santa Cruz; the sound is quite remarkable once you achieve the right balance between speakers.

I have struggled to get my STB Desktop TV card to work with the Santa Cruz: something between the sound drivers and the TV video capture device gave me a blue screen whenever I opened the video capture. Also, it tends to crash explorer when previewing sound files in thumbnail view. Another problem is that WinDVD 2000M (6-speaker DVD player software) does not properly utilize the 6-speaker 5.1 mode, so I am using PowerDVD 3.0. These are all experiences that I've had with the Santa Cruz.

Excuse my language, but you guys are both full of shit. The Santa Cruz is Turtle Beach's most expensive single-piece sound card, and you can find it for $90. The Montego II can be found for below $50. You can't get much cheaper than that. By the way, the Santa Cruz is awesome when it comes to six-speaker playback! Also, it is compatible with all currently releases versions of Windows > Windows 95. Check out compgeeks.com and computershopper.com for prices on TB sound cards.

Hi, I just bought Turtle Beache's latest sound card, the Santa Cruz, assuming that at least their Windows NT 4 drivers would work. And, sadly, they don't work. Does anyone have any knowledge to when and where I can get drivers for this product? Thanks in advance. franzj

This is not so much a Win2k question as it is a Windows Networking question, but how, if possible, can I share a Lexmark 3200 with other computers on the network. The software appears to be so complex, that it neglects the possibility of a network. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks. Francis

Microsoft's gamepads are incredibly precise and accurate. They don't require calibration either. I recommend a Sidewinder gamepad.

Well, I'm glad to see that no one had a response to my above question, because I did eventually get beta drivers. In case anyone was in my situation, I thought I'd leave an update. Turtle Beach seems to have its act together. Of course it should with a brand new sound card. Francis

Download the beta Detonator drivers from NVIDIA's website. That fixed most of the problems with my Dell v770d ultra.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I keep looking and looking, but nothing happens. Are there possibly reference drivers that work with this card? Please reply if you have any information.

There is one thing I have to say: One day soon I will be working for a hardware company. When that day comes I will seek out every one of those people who have responded to consumer need for software is involved with not writing drivers in a timely manner and make sure they are released from the company. This is just my take; so far, very few hardware companies drivers. Windows98 is obviously an inferior product to Windows2000, and anyone foolish enough not to see this has no right to be selling computer hardware anyway.

I'm sorry, the other link is: http://franzj.cwru.edu/fb620u.zip not with the period at the end.
