If you install a new mobo without wiping everything out. You will have major driver conflicts. You can go into safe mode to remove the doubles and old board drivers but its easier just to start fresh.

Bud Light, Black&Tan, Corrona w/ lime and Killians

As log as you back up the old one and are able to replace it. Give it a shot. Let me know how it goes.

I hear you there. Win 2k is a great os. Shi**y half @ss drivers from hardware venders kill it. That should change though with XP on the horizon they will be forced to optimize drivers
-
Some one may need to come up with a new topic though. Seems that everything has been covered and not even half yet.

What mobo are you running? Are you running software or hareware decoding on the DVD? Plus when you put a new mobo did you wipe out the drive and reinstall everything? Need some details

Well figured Id finally add to this post I might be b**tchin alot about buying 3 copies for my home(in reality one copy 2 fixes ), but I have to agree XP is looking good. Been running 2428 for 3 weeks way sweet. If only the icons would load faster and it would quit given me explorer errors. Keep up the posts you still might make a 100 yet

Yup I would highly recommend the GeForce 2 if you hold out a couple of months the Ultra may come down in price with the release of the GeForce3. Im running Creative's GeForce 2 gts and luv it. Smooth as silk performance and beautiful 3d graphics. 2D graphics arnt as crisp but not by much. I hear that the MX version rocks as well with the perfomance-prce ratio.

And all this time I thought a forum was a place where you can discuss your opinion, give out ideas, seek help, and give help when needed. Silly me As for "do you think we really care...." I dont really think you are speaking for the board as a whole. DO you? [This message has been edited by RattDawg (edited 04 March 2001).]

Quote: Originally posted by jdulmage: haha, there is a lot more in XP than that, obviously you speak with no clue as to what your saying.. I'm upgrading to XP frankly because win2k is a crumb in comparsion. I want a fast, stable, compatibility, gaming OS that runs all of my stuff and allows me to do stuff easier and better than before, XP is the only thing suited to that description. Win2k is nothing in comparsion. So, I'll be defintely upgrading Ive seen the same words everytime M.S. belches out a new O.S. Someone just buys into M.S. propaganda just a little too easy. Anyway 2000 rocks but I always keep 98se installed for better game compatibility. Open gl kicks on 2000 but d3d games just dont do as well. XP does look promising but so did Me in the early phases.

Ive never had a problem with buying an OS (unless its beta, Paying to test their OS on my system? HELL NO) But I sure as hell cant afford to buy 3 copies of an OS for each computer in my house. If thats the case I may need to use online resources to keep up to date. Its a load of B.S. Microsoft worries about big time software pirates who sell the software but the small home user gets nuked. Oh well. Just my .02 Later

Im not sure about 2k but I tried it in 98 once and the os failed to boot up. Luckily I was duel booting with 2k and was able to replace the original shell.32 That was the first and last time I tried that.

815 chipset All the way. I have the Intel Mobo and love it. Stable as hell. No overclocking options though.

Once you start you just cant stop. Very addictive habit. But I can say that I have built 2 computers just from the parts that get replaced in my computer every few months or so. This really works out well for my Wife and Son. RattDawg

Yup, when the majority of systems run Windows commen sence says that they will be hacked into more. Duh!

$150 dollor a month for a two bedroom two story townhouse, 3 computers running, 2 fish tanks (55 gallon) and heat running constantly. Havnt lived here during the summer yet, so not sure what the AC will run me. RattDawg

Anyone know of a good lending institution, so I can finance a new Geforce3?

XP to Win2k is what ME was to Win98, junk...anybody agree?
RattDawg replied to oldspice's topic in Games
100% agreed. Plus the security features that force me to buy 3 copies for my 3 home systems have me a little more than put off
