hello, I have decided to revert back to trusty windows 2000 since winXP was a bit too buggy for me. Anyways, could some kind soul email me the red desert moon wallpaper as I loved it and cant find it anywhere! email to cipher@globalnet.co.uk thanks!

its an IBM 30.7Gb UDMA100 7200RPM Hard Drive sorry for typos

hey thanks for the wallpaper! My main gripes on an otherwise excellent OS were the inability to use the Direct CD burning method (hate Nero) and th fact that XP, like win2k SP1 & above arent compatible with Counter Strike. However in games it is just as fast for me as win2k using below system: Asus P3V4X P3 1.008Gz 512mb 133 ram IBM ata100 72000rpm 30Ghz Prophet2 64

yes i did notice the problem with 3dmark 2001, but i dont care about that. As far as im concerned, the bugs in SP1 are minor, and overall gaming performance is fantastic, especially in unreal tournament which really likes my 512 of ram (from desktop to game load in 5 seconds!) and I have been playing midtown madness 2 at 1280x1024 with x4 FSAA with little jerkiness, and also Counter Strike at 1280x1024 with x2 FSAA with 60fps!! Cant wait to get my GeForce 3 Im suprised enabling v-sync doesnt help for you- what card & drivers y using- if its a Geforce definately use the 11.01 driver if y arent already. later cipher

ok I have the same problem, but for me the stuttering is completely fixed by enabling V-sync. However, since installing SP1 i cant update servers- i had to manually add my normal servers: my system ************************* Asus P3V4x (VIA) P3 1.008GHz Prophet2 64 (Elsa 920 on order) 512mb 133 ram (cas3) IBM 75GXP 30.7Gb UDMA100 SB Live HP 8200i CDRW x4 DVD Windows2k SP1 & 2

I have winXP 2428 and installed it and on first boot i went into safe mode changed regdone to 1 and activation req to 0. Is there anything else that i have to know to prevent it disableing itself?

Ok so yesterday I downloaded the new 10.80 win2k nvidia driver, and also the VIA 4.05b apg drivers. All i can say is WOW!!! I nearly fell off my chair (literally) when i loaded up Counter Strike. Normally under win2k SP1 i would get about 30-40FPS at 1280 resolution using a Prophet2 64. Under winME i got around 50-65 depending on map etc. Ok so in winXP 2428 build, i get 72fps, but whats amazing is the colour vibrancy compared to anything ive seen. Even my flat mate who didnt know i installed new drivers noticed the colours where much better- like going from 16 to 32bit. But really what amazed me was the fact that the fps counter just sat at 72fps, only once dipping lower in 2hrs of intense gaming. Im not sure if its just the new drivers, or if the VIA apg helped, but just use these two together & let the good times roll WinXP is definately the best OS to date from Microsoft

I really really need to ask you something...please help me!

hey guys i can only find win9x versions for the 10.50 driver, and xp tells me these drivers dont support xp when i try to install them-what gives?
-
you might wanna experiment with different win2k drivers. I orginally had a similar problem whereby the OS would hang when quitting certain apps, but using latest win2k beta drivers helped fix this
-
its probably because you installed the VIA drivers. Wipe HD & reinstall XP, then install win2k vid drivers and NOT via drivers, apart from the 4.05vxd agp if you must, but i wouldnt bother. I found openGL performance with XP almost that of win9x and far better than win2k which for me was 50% slower.

i installed windowsXP and as with win2k the update/refresh of game servers doent work. anyone know a fix for this?
-
i installed windowsXP and the problem is when i go into counter strike, the update & refresh fucntions dont work. It updates servers but doesnt refresh and all severs have ? marks next to them. Anyone know whats the fix- or problem?
-
download windowsXP 2428 its v good for games. I gave up getting games running smoothly in win2k, 50% slower for me than winME, but winXP lets games run almost as fast as winmE for me + has proper compatability mode.

Hello, I have just finished installing windowsXP and am getting a error message when trying to logon to desktop from welcome screen. If i select myself or even guest logon i get error "windows registration engine corrupt pls reinstall windows" and i crash back to logon screen. The thing is if i boot into safe mode, and logon as Administrator i can logon into windows fine!? Im thinking maybe my install/setup install choices were wrong- i didnt choose the register this product option from wizard, and maybe i should have? Just to make sure, of the 5 wizard install options, what choices should i make. Also, is there a setting i can use which means windows bypasses the logon area and boots straight to desktop? PS i didnt choose dynamic install option, maybe that caused problems? Any help would be greatly appreiciated

whats the reg setting needed to remove the "comments" links from the nav bars? Also, is there a heck to hide the build number in the bottom right on the desktop?
