Does the 'Client for Microsoft Networks' run over TCP/IP on Windows 2000? I have a network of 98, NT4 and (one) Win2K systems. The only way the Win2K system can see the others is with NetBEUI installed. With only TCP/IP installed, I can get to the internet and ping the other computers on the network, but they will not show up in 'My Network Places' until NetBEUI is installed.

I get the error 'The procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could bot be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll' I've tried APCOMPAT.exe and that doesn't help. Any other ideas? AOpen AX6BC, Celeron 450mhz, 192mb RAM, TNT1, SB PCI64.

I have a SupraFaxModem 28.8/PnP modem on my Windows 2000 system. It works fine when I have the modem turned on before the system boots up. But if the modem is turned off, then Dial Up Networking will not see the modem until either I reboot or have Windows search for new hardware (which it will then see the modem and then say it is present). Windows 95/98 doesn't have this behavior. Any way to get Windows 2000 to work the same way? Kane kanep@mcs.net
