    Viper II Z200

I have set one up in K6-2 system. The drivers have been horrible. It took a long time for the drivers to be decent. On paper the card looks good but, it sucks ass in the real world. I would not recomend it to anyone. There are cards that will perform better for the $. I have not installed the latest drivers, mind you. But there has not been any hardware acceleration in win2k on any of the drivers I have used. It works ok in win98. A V3 kills it. Too bad. I hope you have not yet bought this card.

    Burner and IDE probs.

In Windows 2000 I cannot burn any cds. Within 1-2 minutes I get a buffer under run and an instant coaster. I have used several pieces of burning software, same thing. Everything works fine in win98 though. Any ideas? Also, when coping a 700meg file from F drive (fat32 7200rpm Primary master) to J drive (ntfs 5400rpm secondary slave) it takes less then 5 minutes. But when I copy the file from J to F it takes close to 20 minutes. I cant test this in win98 because the ntfs. The hard drive coping thing isn’t a big deal, kind of sucks, but liveable. On the other hand, not being able to burn in win2k is driving me nuts. I don’t want to reinstall win2k until the new final drivers come out for the geforce. NT server 4.0 and cluster size

I have installed winNT many times. The thing I have noticed is that when creating a partition with NTFS it defaults to 512Byte clusters. I convinced a client to get rid of fat16 on his server and I formatted during the reinstall. Problem is it’s slow as hell loading any files now. Normally I would just install NT to a different drive temporarily and then format the one I want to really install NT on with the NT disk manager with 4k clusters. Then reinstall again to the original drive. Problem is this beast of a machine I am working on has hardware raid, no IDE. No extra drive available. My question is how do I get NT to format with 4k clusters on install? Or how do I format C: with NT installed on a logical partition? I tried that today and NT had a bird about formatting it because there was system files on C: Thanks for your time. ----------------- Dell Poweredge 2300 dual PII 450Mhz's 256Megs RAM Hardware RAID with 3 Drives HP scsi burner Standard CD-ROM scsi

    New Via Chipset

I currently have a GA-7iX. I am thinking of upgrading to one of the new VIA Apollo KX133 Chipset based MB's. But I am not going to bother unless there are drivers for win2k. I had some major problems with my vid card and everything else. I now have it setup so it only crashes once or twice a day UT is playable for a short time until it randomly crashes. AOE2 even craps out. Niether hangs the system. Both games behave the same in win2k and win98se. I am sure the vid drivers are the source of some of the problems, but I think perhaps my sound card isn't helping. My question: Are there any issues with the new via chipset? Might it fix my instability issues? At this point I am very impressed with the K7 as far as performance goes, but if I can't run anything with any real stability what is the point?
