Ronin was telling me that he could only find Server and Advanced Server for 64bit processors, not our beloved x86. Does this mean we, PIII and Athlon Users, will be limited to Pro and Personal?
-
No, it was doing poorly in all the textures. 16,32,64, etc.

yeah, I know how 3dmark2000 does. I BEAT THE VOOODOO5! He scored a 2800, I scored a 4300. For 2 machines with 256MB RAM, and running at 900mhz. The reason our scores are so low, is Windows2000. The superiority is chip for chip. 1 chip on the ultra, outperforming 4 chips on the 6000. As for cards, yeah, the Voodoo5 gives a MUCH better picture with FSAA enabled...and if that's your thing, nothing is better than the Voodoos. However, I saw the Voodoo5 CHOKING on the tunnel part of 3dmark2000...whereas I choked on the spinning ring thing. If you want 2d, go for the G400. If you want a reasonably sized card that is tops in pure ower and performance, go for a GeForce If you want a HUGE card that is tops in FSAA, go for a Voodoo If you want driver problems and general hastle, go for anything ATI

The Voodoo5 is twice that of a Voodoo4. The voodoo4 is a FAILURE because the MX outperforms it by a LARGE margin. The Voodoo 6000 is twice that of a Voodoo5. There's not really innovation being made between Voodoos...just more processors hooked up in SLI(on the same card) the GeForce chip is MUCH superior to the Voodoo chip. And that's the simple truth.

Not when it's set up like mine I agree about the BX being better at stock speeds(133), but I'm running at 159mhz. Mine will beat your BX Also, Bios Revision 1003.004 and .006 increased memory performance by an additional 5% [This message has been edited by INFERNO2000 (edited 07 November 2000).] -
SPORK vs. Spoons and Forks :liplick: :nuke: :bones: :sulkoff: ;( Which is a better utensil in today's society? [This message has been edited by INFERNO2000 (edited 06 November 2000).]

Me? Mine's the original GeForce(1) DDR 32 It's worse than a GTS and Ultra, but better than an MX An MX can beat a V5 in some benchmarks...and apparently, that's where my Card is beating my friend's V5. Either way, you're not getting a Radeon, so you'll be happy. ATI can't screw you with drivers if you don't have them...and Nvidia puts out so many new ones so quickly, if you don't mind having to reinstall drivers every other week, you have a much wider array of driver choices(from 3.18(my original) to 6.47

Go for the GeForce. My GeForce256DDR outperforms the Voodoo5 5500 across the hall in everything but FSAA, when our computers are clocked the same and RAM is the same

SBLive 5.1 is just about your only choice for a high quality card, unless you want to pay overly large amounts(the Turtle card), or have a card that is no longer going to have drivers made(Anything Aureal A3D based). However, as you probably know, SBLive and Win2k CAN be problematic. I personally have no problems whatsoever... Good luck with whateer you pick

I'll support that statement. Linux just doesn't have what I need for a personal OS...but Windows2000 does. FOr a small server, I'd say Windows, but for Webservers and stuff that is importatn, definitely Linux

Nah, My guess is in 20s or 30s

can you hold onto the AGP TNT and 24x Teac CD ROM? I need to see if my motherboard will support them(stupid thing says only ver 2.1 will support TNT2, V3, etc.) -
FIC (PA 2013)

The general consensus among hardware review boards say the Asus A7V(Pro). I'd reccomend either that one, or the Abit KT7 RAID(depending on your needs) Either one uses the VIA chipset, so you may still run into problems, though MS released a patch that may help. Or you could wait for the 760 and go dual 1.2Ghz Thunderbirds
-
Any ideas why a motherboard says that only version 2.1 would allow a Voodoo3, TNT(2), G400, or an Rage Fury Pro?? And why am I stuck with Version 2.0?

I'm looking for an IDE harddrive 6GB+, controller is UDMA33, so 66 or 100 isn't necessary. As of 9 PM Oct 30th, I can get a 30GB for 100 dollars, so my request of not more than 30 bucks shouldn't be unreasonable(If you go dollar for GB)
-
Sorry if I came out that way...but thought I'd explained that I have enough RAM. That's why I made the stupid post. Why is it saying I don't have enough when I have more than enough.
-
The thing is, MEMORY ISN'T A PROBLEM FOR ME?! I don't need Memturbo, as I've ALWAYS got over 100MB free Physical RAM.
-
Let's see....256MB Physical RAM, and a 663MB Partition devoted to Swap Space

I'll get Whistler...but only Professional or better yet(if it's like Win2k (adv)Server vs. Pro where the server edition feel faster), or one of the server editions. But...call me crazy, some of the new skins look kind of, I don't know. Makes it look too "friendly" to GUI...I'll probably get it and go back to the older-Windows look(in the previous BETAs this was possible..is it still)? Or if I can customize it....maybe I'll do that for the most part, I go by icons, text means nothing to me, as I'm the sole user of my computer. are people running personal or professional for the most part?
-
Photoshop5 LE that came with my harddrive worked fine... now the full version and 5.5 don't work? I KNOW my RAM is good..it's one the best on market... 256MB Mushkin PC133 Cas 2:2:2 (running at 159). But I'm wondering, if Photoshop just doesn't understand overclocked RAM properly? That doesn't make sense though, as the RAM's access is controlled by the operating system....which runs fine. Maybe I'll just have to go to Paintshop Pro

I predict this thread will still be alive when Blackcomb gets released.

oh yeah, 3 then. Forgot my WinTV and I resemble that remark, you bastard! Wait. dammit. Oh well..don't feel like backspacing all that way to fix that simple mistake. I'm sure everyone can figure out that I meant resent, right? right?? I've not asked about my CUSL2 in a while, actually. That's what www.cusl2.com is for..and I've been answering more often than asking.
