Full Tower Owners (especially SuperMicro 750 or 760) please

I've not touched my A top yes. Bigger, badder, faster, more stable, and maybe even [censored]ier(anyone know of any women that would be impressed by a big case? Send them my way ) I thought about the 2000.... But I just want a FULL TOWER...that's under 200 dollars I can get the 760 with a redundant cooling supply for 167 shipped(once I figure out what my bank has shoved up their butts for my credit card. I want 1 computer. not 3 So I need more slots. If you figure I have 3 harddrives, 1 floppy, 3 CDROMS, and a slot for my iPanel... That comes out to 4 slots...filling up my case...I want a few more spots open And as for case mods....I intend to paint it black...and MAYBE redo a sidepanel so it's clear (see [H]ARD OCP for examples). I have a case to practice on... I'm not THAT stupid. just that stupid.

    What kind of odd points?

Full Tower Owners (especially SuperMicro 750 or 760) please

Neither size nor noise are issues to me. The bigger the badder, the louder the cooler. I just need to know this is as high quality as my credit card will allow. Should I put Casters on it, or leave it as is? I don't move it around often(just when i'm upgrading) enough to need casters...but if the case itself is almost 40 pounds.... What's your recomendation? Locking casters?

  5. I'm trying to find a hole saw that will cut through metal, 120mm (for a fan). Does anyone here know of a place(online perhaps) that might be able to help me? The highest anyone around here has is for an 80mm fan...but we all know that 120 is larger than 80.

Sears, Menards, Ace Hardware. All of them aren't helping me.

nope, not enough Depending on cost, and if someone can punch it for me...I might take that 80mm fan on the side, punch that as a 120, and stick the 80 on the top exhausting out(see also blowing my papers all over ). I'll be using chrome grills no matter what...the only time I negate them is if they're internal. I knew enough to go with metal saws...My case is black and purty . I don't want to mar it any more than necessary...although a black Sharpie will cover all my scratches

    HalfLife AddEntity:Too Many Objects ?

This happens whenever I get into a firefight. Any ideas how to fix it? My setup: AMD Athlon 750 /Asus K7V 160MB PC100 RAM WinMe Voodoo3 3000. In the bios, I've tried every aperture from 8mb to 128..or whatever it was...and still have this problem.

    Cas 3 @ Cas 2 with mushkin PC 133

I just bought a stick of PC133 RAM by mushkin (256MB PC133 Athlon Tested) (Address is : http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mushkin.f...products/990433 ) It doesn't explicitly say CAS 3...but since it's not REV2, I assume it to be CAS 3. I've heard of this memory easily going to CAS 2....but I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. System will be overclocked to 150 FSB. OS will of course be Win2k.

    288 MB PNY PC100 SDRAM

I'm upgrading to PC133 in my Asus CUSL2, and keeping the Compaq chip, so I'm left with 288 MB(2x128 & 1x32) RAM that will only bring my system down. I'm looking to get around $225 for all of them.

    DELL CASES !!!!

Also...not to dissuade you(well..maybe I am), but there are a lot of cases out there that look good on the website, but turn out to be crap(especially my ebay-bought case). Be careful. If I may make a recomendation, A-top 900 or 901(traditional grey, or black) at www.pccase.com This case(the 901) has not only been my baby, but I've gotten a lot of praise from the Computer Science guys at my residence hall. It's not very expensive...only 64 dollars +shipping+extra for a 300W(as opposed to 250). Anandtech did a review of this case as well. http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1150 Their review isn't as great as it should be...but the problems they listed, I never noticed.

    DELL CASES !!!!

I saw this on a post at anandtech.com...The case is by the people that make the case for Dell...but it's their own personal design. The insided remains the same. http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=994 If that link doesn't work, then go to Anandtech's reviews, then cases, then go down to the Palo Alto They're made by Palo Alto(incidentally they also make the palm pilot cases)

I don't have one. I thought about other....but it does deal with hardware(fans and cooling)...oh well.

If anyone has this motherboard, or if anyone shares the f*cking VIA chipset on a PIII(This PIII is a Katamai)...please tell me how it does? I'll be running a Voodoo3 2000 on it, so I should skip the nvidia problems...I hope?

    Tekram P6PRO-A+ motherboard--any comments?

That was done with no battery, ?Everything was done with no battery.

    Tekram P6PRO-A+ motherboard--any comments?

Since there aren't any takers..here's how it went. Booted in to BIOS. Fine. Set the non-defaults(you know, setting clock properly, and all the proper setup things that a person has to do. Reboot. No changes to FSB or anything, and my motherboard decides to change my lowly PIII500 Katmai to a PIII 667B Coppermine. /HANG!/ I do everything I can to get back to the 500...go to the standard 100 FSB JUMPER and 5x multiplier JUMPER... Boot. /HANG!/667B Running memory(PC100) at PC133. I run in and get some 133 so as to not destroy the 32mb I have(It's not much..but with prices what they are..). Pull the CMOS battery. Reboot 667B /HANG!/ Turn on again..while hung, pull out the ATX power switch(with no CMOS..shouldn't that clear everything?) same thing remove ram and boot? Same Remove CPU and boot? Same Remove BIOS and boot? Same.... EVERYTHING SAYS 667B and hangs...when it DOES boot properly, that is. So..I'm stuck with a dead motherboard...or so I think. I'm going to call the guy and say it was DOA...which it more or less was. STAY AWAY FROM TEKRAM is all I can say. They have no phone support in the USA..if that says anything. Stick with the tried and true ASUS, ABIT, etc. And stay off of ebay

    Good registry cleaner

I use easycleaner from www.tweakfiles.com It saves the files deleted into a backup folder, or deletes them immediately, based upon your decision.

    Need a Win2k Webcam quickly.

UK? Ok...nevermind...I was going to say I'm selling mine. decent quality and onboard mic. Logitech makes a Win2k friendly line...I've used their Quickcam Home(WEB) for a while, and am generally pleased with it.

Have you ever been soooo Riled up, you just wanna....

I love outsmarting Compaqs "techies". I went to Pioneer and downloaded the firmware from them. I also lost the Compaq Branding on it SO..now the only thing that says Compaq and IS compaq is my monitor...and dammit I bet that's made by NEC.

Have you ever been soooo Riled up, you just wanna....

I'm under warranty(luckily), but goddamnit...they need to be more detailed. Oh well...I'm heading off to pioneer to see if I can salvage some firmware codes....this thing was originally Pioneer, before Compaq brainwashed it to the dark side.

    Need Opinions on CD Drive

F*cking Compaq. They released a firmware update for my model of computer, but don't mention(until I call them for "tech support"--see also half an hour on hold while the guy looks for standard info--) the fact that it was was for Slot, rather than Track DVD players. So now I'm left with an expensive cup holder, as the eject button brings it into the out and mt. dew holding position...but pressing it again only makes it shift and spill the Mt. Dew.(I've not tried yet...but dammit I think I will). So I need to go out and get a new drive. Either CD or DVD...I don't care. I don't need a CD RW..but if someone has an 8x or 12x for under $150, then I'll jump on that. Anyway...that leads me to the point of this rant. I need opinions on good CD ROM or DVD ROM drives....all I ask is that it be 32x or better CD, and 6x or better DVD. It MUST BE ABLE TO READ CDRWs!!!! And it must be under $150. What do you guys recomend?

    Need Opinions on CD Drive

I've read that the truex line has problems with the ATA 100 drivers for my motherboard...at least that's what I read in the forums at cusl2.com.... I'm looking at CD ReWriters too...if so, Plextor will be my favorite, and I know Pioneer has the best DVDs(That's what mine is, by the way....beneath that compaq exterior)... Best Buy has a lot of Acer Cd drives...but I'm cautious to going to them...haven't heard the best of things about Acer... But memorex, I've got a lot of pleasant experience with them...maybe I'll look into them as well....oh well..I have until noon central time to figure it all out.

I'm sorry. I thought that some of those words would get asterisked out....Admins, please Asterisk those for me, as it's being stupid and saying that I can't edit my own posts?

GOD DAMNED F*CKING SONS OF C*CKS*CKING B*TCHES!!! SH*TTY COMPAQ DID IT AGAIN! They have a firmware update for their 5600i model Presarios' DVD drives...so I download and upgrade. THEN IT TURNS OUT THAT IT'S ONLY FOR SLOT LOAD DVD ROMS(which they conveniently don't mention). NOW I HAVE TO DO WITHOUT PC FOR 2 MONTHS TO GET IT FIXED. I think I'll go out and buy a stupid plextor and save myself some F*cking aggrevation... God damned sons of *****es...won't even help me get the old firmware back(I'm sure they have old versions as well as new). No. they want my money Well F*CK THEM!!! 25. I just bought a new motherboard(Tekram P6Pro-A+ for $52 on ebay)...Via Apollo Pro 133 chipset. I'm going to be overclocking my PIII 500 katmai(pre-Coppermine) from my Compaq with it. I'm curious if I can reasonably expect to get to the 133 mhz FSB (666 Mhz CPU)...and can I reasonably hope to surpass that?(the motherboared was made for the 133 FSB...so I think I can run that, thus overclocking the CPU, but not the rest of the hardware. (Please tell me if this thought is incorrect) My other peripherals are a Voodoo3 3000 AGP, an ISA NIC, a Soundcard, and the mouse and other standard peripherals.
