Why not upgrade to IE 5.5 or 5.01 or 5.00? Win 95 will run it.
-
Other than yelling at you, this post isn't supposed to have a point. And we've stopped yelling...so now we're just mindlessly posting things for no apparently good reason.

I ran it on a friend's K62 300 with 64 RAM, and it ran acceptably well.

/**MEANINGLESS POST ALERT** Nope. Ummm... /**MEANINGLESS POST ALERT**

No..I went from MS Dos 6.22, to 95, then DOS 5, NT4, then 98SE, to 3.1, then 2000, and now ME. All this morning. I've been really busy -
I've used every Norton from 5 to CE 7.01. I've tried PC-Cillon on 98, but not 2k(it won't work) My personal preference is either NAV2k, or NAVCE. I'm running CE because I feel it to be more robust, as it was made for servers, while 2000 was made for personal computers. Both AV software versions have found virii before they got to my computer...but CE just found one(*Backdoor subseven) on my *hacked-No CD* Unrealtournament.exe...it cleaned it, but I went ahead and uninstalled everything UT related anyway. 2000 found virii in my emails from the university(stupid f*cking teacher--she did it three times)... So both of these I feel to be very much worth the money(or w@r3z download)... But McAfee? Although my university endorses it, scr#w it. It will never be as good as Norton(flame as you wish)...everyone I've installed Norton on(that were using McCrappee) had virii that Norton caught, but McAfee had missed. As long as you update your virus definitions religiously, you should be ok with any of them... Just don't give money to McAfee. They don't deserve it

Although I do agree somewhat, what about those of us that have two computers running 9x and 2000, or are dual booting? We have many knowledgeable people here, that most likely at one time or another, used 9x. Personally, I've asked very few questions about 9x...but I feel I've more than made up for it with my multitude of (meaningless) questions about 2000. I agree with what CM said in the Wraptor post in Tweaks--making another section for the 9x in the other category...that way the faithful long time users of the NTCompatible forum, may still depend on this BBS for their needs, even if it is for an inferior OS. Since it would be in the other category, Flaming would be more acceptable ....and it doesn't "detract" from the purity of the NT kernel OSes. Just my 2 cents..wait. I'm broke Dammit!

I was in the same proverbial boat as you...and many of my floormates all have Hauppauge WinTVs of one sort or another. I have the GO! which is the low end one...and therefore lacks stereo...but you can get higher end ones that do have it for little more(plus you get a remote ). My WinTV Go costed $40 as Best Buy...but I'm sure you can find higher end ones for cheaper at pricewatch.com

Power doesn't shut off at shutdown
INFERNO2000 replied to Rabscuttle's topic in Customization & Tweaking
My Compaq was ACPI compliant, but it did the same thing... My custom computer is ACPI compliant, and it shuts off automatically. The difference? Power supplies.. If you're running an AT power supply, it will most likely always wait for you to press a button, whereas ATX will shut off automatically. However, my AT supplied Compaq still tends to shut off automatically...so who knows. Just something worth looking into -
Hey guys? if This is whom I think it is, it's my fault he's here...I told him(through another person) to come here and search for the 64GB thing..as I had thought I'd read about it here. Flame me, not him
-
hey wraptor---were you talking to a guy named Lee on Wed afternoon? I heard him talking to someone, and asked me about a 64GB limit on a raid....wondering if it's coincidence, or if I've just aided in adding a new member to the NTCompatible forum
-
Ok...unless something dramatically better comes my way in the next week, put my name down for it... All I have to do is wait for that check to arrive, and I'll forward the money to you, if that's ok with you.

Best Buy tends to have them for about $30...and they also have the Logitech Variant for the same price..personally I prefer the Logitech one, as it tends to feel better than the Intellimouse ever did...Staples will usually have them as well. Otherwise, the ever popular www.pricewatch.com

Hi. I'm running Win2k(Advanced Server)...and I have a question about the Terminal Services. I was told this is what I'd need to remotely operate programs from the lab computers... How would I go about setting things up so I can play Counterstrike from a lab computer, using the software on my personal PC? (Yeah, it sounds dumb..but this lab is really boring)
-
I've done it with Aliens Versus Predator--didn't have it installed on my computer, but ran it well off of the remote on. However, this was over a LAN, using 98 on both PCs....and no Terminal services...so I know doing this is possible...I just don't know what I need to have done for this to work
-
Ok..I've seen that before already That's what I figured...it was just the SP1 thrown on... I'll stick with my version, and throw SP1 on later...it's not like it's that difficult to throw in 2 cds....and the second one has a lot of my drivers and apps anyway
-
Is that a TNT or TNT2? I just went to the CL website, and all I see is the TNT2....
-
That should be adequate for my needs....How does it run in D3D games(such as UT)? I'm looking for decent OpenGL...and your FPS listed should be good enough...I just need to beat the 4FPS with OpenGL in my ATI card.
-
Or comparable Besides...I've seen new 2000s for about 50..and I want used.

Piracy? Never!(Shoves cds further back in the drawer). Nobody around here pirates anything

New VIA 4 in 1 Drivers... Does someone want to test them?
INFERNO2000 replied to evil Homer's topic in Hardware
there's a registry value for the Nvidia. Search the main page for VIA WINDOWS 2000 and there should be something for a tweak down the page
