Uh-oh. Bill in consideration would ban home-built PC's.

Some of us are laughing now. Because any idiot that passes it probably won't be voted in for office again. This is seriously polical suicide. -
WinXP CDRW Software - Thoughts/Recommendations needed

A bump for NERO/CloneCD combo. I love it. You will too. -
I want to see systems that are capable of making humans cyborg-like. Integrated in the some area where at the press of a button, or the pulling of a finger, I can instantly start surfing the naughty pages of the internet, or play Quake 3 in all seriousness...I expect to see SMP gaining support in the home-user category, Linux becoming more and more viable, storage such as the Smart Media cards to become the standard(**** you, Mr. Floppy!) w/ gigabytes of storage. Power will be brought down to under 1 volt, and within 10 years, the computer my take less power than your toaster.

Ya know, I'll have this done today!! w00t w00t!

INFERNO2000 replied to valery's topic in Hardware
Why not just download NVrefresh? It works fine on the 27.70 drivers, at least it has for me on 4 different computers, with 3 different types of Nvidia card(TNT2, GF2MX, 2x GF3) -
[off topic]the most effective way is to buy a Santa Cruz or Game Theater XP [/off topic] hehehe

Want a SERVER? 440BX or a ServerSet chipset. No one in here will argue that the 440BX is probably the single BEST chipset EVER made. And if they do, there'll be enough people to agree with me to make the naysayer's opinion moot. They're STABLE. the only drawback to them is the fact that some things haven't been able to grow with the times, AGP4x, a 133fsb(although Abit did have one, it was just an Oced 440BX). I have a Soyo 6BA+ 3 440BX motherboard. I've gotten it up to a 153 FSB! It's only got a P2 350 in it...but it makes a great server. I'll stick 2k Server on there, and it'll stay up until the license runs out 6 months from now, or the power goes out! If you're looking into the Newere P3s...the ServerSets are really REALLY nice. They're not performance boards in any way, shape, or form. But they're fantastic as servers.

Low Disk space notification ?!?!?!?!?!
INFERNO2000 replied to Sparkhard's topic in Customization & Tweaking
That doesn't do any good if you create a partition just for disk swap space I tend to make a 300 mb or so partition at the end of the drive as swap file space, taking it off of the C drive -
Here's my brother's new computer for college(6 months early, so my dad will stop whining about him being on his computer). I'll be finished building it tonight. Everyone talks about overclocking, what about noise?
INFERNO2000 replied to Marktait's topic in Slack Space
My brother's going to have a 1900 cooled by a Panaflo L1A and a Swifty. Hopefully it'll be fairly quiet. the PSU is nearly silent despite my changing fans so it'd run at full speed 24/7. 2 Panaflo M1A 120, 2 Panaflo L1A, and the Enermax PSU w/ a SanyoDenki 92 and an 80mm I forget the manufacturer of(I pulled my Panaflos when I decided to give it to my brother ;p) If all else fails, I'll get the 2 120s on 12/7 switches. -
I don't have Windows Messenger...but if it's available, please PM me.

Crap! I just realized that Four & Twenty needs to help me on this! I can get JD bumped down to #10...but 4&20 needs to take #10.

The only good thing that ME brings to the table is the backup feature. Other than that, I trust 98SE a hell of a lot more.

Win9x was good until Win2k came out. then the NT kernel became a realistic option for the power-user. USB Support, Windows 98 ease of use, and NT stability was great. After 2k came out, I had a great hatred of 98. I dual booted for 5 months, and eventually, never even booted into 98 for 3months. After that, 9x has not been on one of my primary systems as a REAL OS. I've not revered 9x as my option since June of 2000. Do I still use it? Yeah, on systems slower than 400mhz, I'll install 98SE. I install it on customers' systems if they want to play their old games, after testing them in XP first(**** You, EA!).

Corsair, Crucial, Mushkin, Kingston. These companies have earned the trust of the community. Kingston makes some damned good Laptop RAM, and their TinyBGA looks pretty frickin sweet.

best solution is to spring for an Alpha 8045 or swifty 462 and get a slower 80mm that puts out the same cfm as the loud 60. that's what I do -
Have you read this BS about IBM drives only being able to be powered on 8 hours a day? I'm very happy with my WD 100gb 8mb cache drive...and today I'll be installing my brother's Maxtor 80gb... I loved IBM...but guilt by association took me away from Creative, and it may do the same for IBM. Maxtor & WD for IDE, and Seagate for SCSI from now on.

I wish Mandrake 8.2 would come out. Me wants me wants.
