    Dual Processor Option

I've got a few bucks to spare(about $60), so I've thought about setting up a VERY LOW END SMP PC. What I need to know is the lowest processor I can set up an SMP with...namely, can I do it with Pentium I's, which I can get for about $5 a piece, or do I have to go to Pentium II(which will of course cost more). And if anyone has any recomendations on a mobo that runs SIMMS(I have 20 mb of EDO that I want to use)...for that low processor end...please tell me. Thanks

    Dual Processor Option

I found 2 K6/2 266 cpus for just under $30. Would these work, or am I limited to the Intel line(which is fine..but about 20 dollars more)

    BIOS problems

Hey...I think my motherboard's BIOS might have just gone bad I tried to update the BIOS, and it keeps saying " Failed to verify EEPROM with new BIOS image" I've tried the newer BIOS, it makes it to 9%, and I've tried the old BIOS, it does nothing. I'm using ASUS's UPDATE Do I need to call Asus and ask them what gives? ------------------ Code: OBSIDIAN2 (Win2k System) INFERNO (Win9x)---Custom Built--- ---Compaq Presario 5600i---PIII Coppermine(FCPGA 370) 800eb w/133FSB (with ThermalTake Golden Orb heatsink) PIII 500(498 listed) (Pre CuMine)Asus CUSL2 mobo(no onboard sound) BIOS rev 1002.005 Beta Compaq 440BX based motherboard384(393 listed)MB PC100 SDRAM (2x128 PNY& 1x128 Mistsubishi(Compaq)) Compaq 32(32 listed)MB PNY PC100 RAM A-Top 901 Case & 300W Athlon Approved Power Supply30GB MAXTOR Diamand Max UDMA/66 7200 RPM hdd and IBM15-7 15GB UDMA/100 7200RPM hdd IBM DJNA 371350 UDMA/33 7200RPM Hdd3 Internal 80mm fans, & 1 52mm exhaust fan (along with Power Supply, CPU, and GeForce fans)CL SB Live! Win2000 Vs Me

I can also argue that it's easier to skip the old computer...as it's pushed off to the side... and on my 17" monitor, with the screen maximized(and 1280x1024-the only way to play ), I can see everything perfectly. But didn't this start out as a WinME thing? let's go back to that and ignore sigs. I'm done editing, at least until I get my third computer

    ATX Power Supply Question

Ok... I have a fairly standard Power Supply. I have the traditional ATX Motherboard plug, 2 2x4pin IDE connectors 2 4pin IDE and 4pinfloppy connectors and another connector that I'm not using.. It looks to be a little larger than the standard AT power supply plug...just wondering what this plug is for, if anyone knows
  10. INFERNO2000

    ATX Power Supply Question

True... Oh well...I don't need any more connectors yet...at least until I get a SCSI or another ATA100 controller in there.

There are a few reasons for long posts: 1: helps identify problems 2: multiple computers(SUCK AS MYSELF) 3: general pride in our computers. I pick number 2 and 3 usually....I have two computers, so you can expect my sig to be twice as long as a 1 computer person's... and dammit, I'm proud of my computer!! I haven't spent weeks and thousands of dollars working on these systems for nothing? I have every right to have a long post...just as you have every right to scroll through it. As for an eyesore? no, it was Win2k. He claimed he was getting OEM versions in in a week or 2. I think he just meant SP1...but didn't I read somewhere that Microsoft was sticking to the retail, and SPs would have to be downloaded seperately?
