I know this has to have been covered, but for the life of me, I cannot find it. I want to format an 850 mb partition from the FAT32 it's set at, to FAT16, that way I may install WinNT4, either server or Workstation. There's one added bonus--I have no floppy drive to work with. Creative Live! drivers give a crawl for GF 256DDR ?

I have the same basic setup as you.. Asus CUSL2 PIII 800eb GeForce DDR(but by Creative Labs) SB LIVE! yeah. Compaq ****ing sucks ass. They don't use standard floppy drives; the pin omitted is different than that of a standard floppy drive. Add in the fact that the case is molded...and normal floppies no longer work. This is just one more nail in their coffin. Damn, I hate them
-
This is all too frightening to me. I mean, it's bad enough to have to hear my roommate using Scour to download double fisting anal horse [censored]...but to see it on an NT site? Something about that just doesn't seem right. Let's go back to the JDULMAGE trashing! MSDOS then WIn2k for dos compatability? Come on!! that was classic! (minimal offense to jd)

Coke on hot summer day after mowing the lawn, Mt. Dew any other time, Surge when my parents are too ****ing cheap to buy Mt. Dew. But no Pepsi(ack), and no Dr. Pibb stuff. Anyone ever try Kick? That was some great stuff. Even had warnings and safety labels saying how dangerous it was
-
ok, I get the feeling more details are needed. the 850mb is a partition of the 13.5 gb hdd. Win98 is already installed... and when I boot off of the NT cds, it asks me to create startup disks...which is impossible because that computer has no floppy installed in it(f*cking compaq whored drive doesn't use standard controllers--wiring is different). If I don't build startup disks, I cannot continue. So, as a person without PArtition magic, I need another way to do this.
-
My windows 2000 computer is all NTFS. I'm wantingit on the other computer, which currently has Win98 on it...and is all FAT32. When I boot off floppy, it asks for startup disks to be made, and I can't, because I have no floppy drive on it.

Does anyone actually prefer Windows ME? and if so why
INFERNO2000 replied to pr-man's topic in Software
Quick Answer for me: Hell ****ing No. However, to ME's credit, The error that is common with the VIA KX133 chipset, Nvidia GeForce based cards, and Windows 2000, wasn't experienced by me. Windows Me does have a few nice things I'd like to see in Win2k, such as, ummm..well...nevermind. WinMe doesn't have anything I want in Win2k. I've only ran WinMe for a week now...but I've gotten more crashes than with Win98-which says a lot. And I'm not really using anything unordinary...ATI card(for Linux compatability), A3D based soundcard...and an ATI NIC. It just crashes when I try to run IE every once in a while, and is always nonrecoverable. Go figure. There was a post a long time ago, saying WinME is for the kiddies, and Win2K is there for the "big boys" or something...And I agree. As a big boy, I prefer Win2k...but which OS would I prefer my parents to have? Definitely WinME...it'll keep their computers safe from their incompetencies(if that's a word)...less opportunities to play and tweak...which is probably better for the general population(which tend to be idiots when it really comes down to computer related abilities). -

I finally got the new parts I needed to rebuild my Win2k System, and installed on a brand new harddrive. Hey, Tomorrow(Monday the 28th), I'm going out to buy myself a Socket 370 CPU I have to decide between a CuMine 800(100mhz FSB), CuMine 800(133mhz FSB), or a Celeron2 600(66mhz FSB) which I'll try to overclock to 100FSB(making it 900mhz). I had a choice between hatreds. Win9x or VIA chipset and Win2k I chose the new chipset, and kept 2k Otherwise, I was VERY happy with my Athlon system. But....I love this one

Hey-my warranty is gone..and i'm bored. My compaq has no motherboard manual, so I can't do any hard jumper settings...so I'm looking for any software that can change my FSB and/ or my clock multiplier? WCPUid shows me as having a 498mhz with a 100mhz FSB PIII 500. It is a year old, so I doubt the clock multiplier is locked. The chipset of the mobo is 440BX/DX. Any suggestions? I'd like to see if I can get her up to 550, or 600.
-
Not sure the ap I used, but the clock wasn't locked. I **** you not. I kept the FSB the same, and got it to go to 550, and 600 while I was in Windows. But when I rebooted, it was gone. Soft FSB does the same thing, sort of..it shows my FSB being changed, but WCPUid doesn't acknowledge any speed gain or FSB change. And as the thread says, it's a Compaq. There is NO BIOS to speak of. "English/French/Spanish/German IDE: Enable UDMA 33 *y/n*. Enable legacy keyboard USB *Y/n*" That's about as technical as it gets. Pathetic. And Compaq hasn't emailed me back. ****ers. ------------------ OBSIDIAN (Win2k System) ---Custom Built---REBUILDING PIII Coppermine(370) 800eb w/133FSB (with ThermalTake Golden Orb heatsink) OCed to:900 w/150 FSB. Pretty much just to see what I could get it to do. I'm back down to 800 now... No point in keeping it that high really... I just wanted to see what it could do. And... I did it because I have a 7 day moneyback garauntee warranty from the place that sold it to me. I wanted to see what I could do before I would HAVE to be absolutely careful in my actions. i.e. if I burned it up in the first few days, I could take it back, and they'd replace it. But after that, I'm on my own(excluding the intel warranty)
