Maybe... just maybe... one day, perhaps they'll issue a compatibility update that makes Final Fantasy VII work. Eidos certainly don't give a damn. -- Xiven

Mad - The uninstall will be in your windows\system or windows\system32 folder. It's an .exe but I can't remember the name. -- Xiven

Newms - this same problem was experienced with office 2000 help after ie5.01 was installed. It's cause they changed the way it stores the version number in the registry and still possibly appliesto ie5.5. Check out the below solution nabbed from the ntcompatible news archives. It may or may not work, so don't blame me :-) ---------------------- IE5.01 SP1 sets the IE build # the wrong way. In the Win2k Release HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Build is 52920 After IE5.01 SP1 it becomes 5.00.3103.1000 which is probably difficult to parse if your are expecting 53103. So, the solution is set HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Build to 53103 ------------------- Hope that helps -- Xiven [This message has been edited by Xiven (edited 15 August 2000).]

I used the dx8 uninstaller (in your winnt\system directory - can't remember what the name is, but you'll know it when you see it). I've had no problems with it, dx7 still works just fine. -- Xiven

Windows 2000 & Detonator 2 OpenGL fix [Comments] by Thomas McGuire @ 16:53 Those of you out there who are experiencing crashes in Opengl games such as Soldier of Fortune (e.g. GLimp_EndFrame() - SwapBuffers() failed!) after installing the Detonator 2 drivers for Windows 2000 will need to fix it using this procedure. 1. Click, Start, Run. 2. Type in regedit & hit Enter. 3. Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers]. Delete the RIVATNT subkey. 4. Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers] & make a New String Value entitled RIVATNT & give it a value of nvoglnt. Thanks to the nVidia newsgroup (unknown_error in particular) for mentioning the basic fix _Update_ - Step 4 has changed! UT works in OpenGL -- Xiven [This message has been edited by Xiven (edited 05 June 2000).] [This message has been edited by Xiven (edited 05 June 2000).]

Use the official Nvidia 5.22 drivers. Then apply the registry fix that's in the thread "Detonator 2 and OpenGL" (it's around somewhere). UT should then run okay in OpenGL provided nothing else is wrong. -- Xiven

Yes, but DirectX 7.0a on win98 is EQUIVALENT to DirectX 7.0 on win2k

Preacher - Yeah, I tried it. It works fine. Others have also reported success with Tribes and SoF. -- Xiven

Eidos have said that they will no longer be supporting FF7. This includes making it compatible with Win2k. It's the only reason I'm still using a dual boot system :-( -- Xiven
