Talk about dumb luck. I'm just jealous.

Bando. Sorry I have not played Giants in w2k so I could not help. But I will comment on my Sound card. I am totally sick of my worthless sblive. This card is buggy, I have had no end of problems and incompatibilities with this fuking card. EAX though good in theory always makes games run like crap, or crash. I am just fed up with this disgraceful card. I am also looking at getting rid of it and going for something better. I have no idea what else is out there. Let me know what decision you make. - Card.

Good call. I guess I figured it might of been hidden but was a tad lazy It's working. Thanks. - Card.

Hey there. I downloaded the new version for sp2. I do not have a folder named dllcache so I overwrite the explorer.exe in my winnt dir and servicepackfiles dir. It does not work. I'm still getting 16 bit tray icons. Whats the story?

Looks like you will have to do it yourself unless you are willing to post the source. What if we promise not to copy it? Wait, now I'm sounding like William G. Forget it, good luck.

Crissi, Windows 2000 can be installed on any drive as long as the boot loader is installed on drive C which W2k does automatically. Well, hmm this is a problem I have suffered to some degree. Not the same error but similar. This annoys me about Windows 2000. It's a temperamental OS that's for sure. It does not take much tweaking with it or it will just kill itself. But It does not sound like you have tweaked. I don't think it has anything to do with the partition. If the hard drive is on a pci controller, eg highpoint or Hotrod then Windows 2000 needs to have the driver installed seperately during the initial install. It is very sensitive to overclocking as DosFreak hinted. I can't really imagine what it could be just by looking at your hardware setup. Hmm perhaps a Bios setting could be at fault. If all else fails make sure you have the Bios settings properly set. A good link for Bios optimisation can be found here Other then that I can't offer anything more. Hopefully someone else might. Good luck. - Card

Why do you think BEOS 5 is almost dead?

Well this does not bode well my brothers. Sev's screenshot is the most disturbing. I have not installed it yet as I am now a touch skeptical. The 'it is working well' comments are not at all helpful, it is the 'this is crapola' comments are the ones I pay attention to. Keep the posts coming, is SP2 all that we have been waiting for, or is it a pile of Shiz?

Yes, has happened to me before also. In fact still does, not a real problem though.

Brian. Just hit the Print Screen key. The open up Microsoft paint and hit CTRL-V. Then save it. As far as putting the screenshot up here, you have to add a link to the image. eg, www.dontclickthis.com/nopic.jpg (using ubb code ofcourse.) - Card.

that is normal guys. Nothing to worry about. I can't remember why, but svchost.exe needs to be running in two seperate processes. Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that are run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). The Svchost.exe file is located in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder. At startup, Svchost.exe checks the services portion of the registry to construct a list of services that it needs to load. There can be multiple instances of Svchost.exe running at the same time. Each Svchost.exe session can contain a grouping of services, so that separate services can be run depending on how and where Svchost.exe is started. This allows for better control and debugging. Svchost.exe groups are identified in the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost Each value under this key represents a separate Svchost group and is displayed as a separate instance when you are viewing active processes. Each value is a REG_MULTI_SZ value and contains the services that run under that Svchost group. Each Svchost group can contain one or more service_names extracted from the following registry key, whose Parameters key contains a ServiceDLL value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Service

I could not agree more Brian. I just had to pull you up on it, I figured some linux lover would sniff it. I use Linux. I wish so bad that it didn't suck. But it does. it is stable. More stable then Microsoft could ever imagine. But thats because of the programs written for it, as much as it is for the OS itself. And the dude who said it did about as much as your c64? Haha. You're not far off, but then so does windows. Linux is just to badly organised for my liking. Something is wrong with it, I'm just not sure what. " Linux is like a semen sandwich. Supposed to be good for you, but it tastes like sh1t "

Yeah read that on Activewin a while ago. Who is really surprised though? I'm sorry Frank, but with this attitude how can you argue for anti-piracy ? Especially with Microsoft products anyway. Who knows, soon when someone makes a comment and the word 'Microsoft' and 'piracy' or 'burn' in the same sentence. A bot will detect the comment and send the details or at least the IP of the person back to a database. Who knows. Meta-tags will be the end of privacy. They already do it in library's in the US.

Just for grins, where is everyone "calling" from?
