I recommend to anyone with a saitek product to return it ASAP. They are a crap company that makes crap products with even crappier drivers and have crap tech support. Sure their products are cheaper but there is a great reason for it.

<<I can even make Windows ME run flawlessy>> You are a very gifted individual!!

Gravis hasn't made drivers compatible with XP, hell not even windows 2000. My advice is to stay away from Gravis products. Not only do they not support their products very well but I've yet to have a Gravis controller last more then 5 months without breaking in some way.

<<Since this has been confirmed to be a game bug rather than an XP compatibility issue, this message is no longer relevant to this section.>> Anything related to Windows XP and Gaming is relevant to this section.

<<It keeps giving me that invalid win32 application error>> That's because the crack you are using was made before Windows 2000 was released and was only made to work with Windows 95/98/ME. If you don't use a crack it most likely will work just fine. Ofcource if you don't own a legit copy of High Stakes then you have a problem.

Go out and buy yourself a nice $40 Intel network card.
-
It was my hard drive, it doesn't seem to like ATA 100. Everything works fine now that I turned off ATA 100.
-
Ah, everythings workin fine now I'll just stick with my rage fury for now.

Anyway my computer kept freezing randomly so I took my GForce2 MX-200 out and put in my older card (ATI rage fury) and suddenly my system hasn't been this stable since I upgraded to the MX-200 last month. The framerate has dropped in my games but it's well worth it for this added speed and stability. I guess this MX-200 don't get along with my Asus A7V motherboard very well.

The only performance hit you will see from Win98 and XP is the facts that WinXP is beta and that win98 has been around for ages, developers have had a chance to fully optimize their drivers for 98, plus win98 has 90% of the userbase so they are focusing 99% on Win98 when they make the drivers. In XP the drivers are half assed 1st generation. It's a driver issue it's not because Microsoft fundamentally made WinXP worse for games then Win98.

There won't be a problem. They'll make it 100% compatible.
-
BTW it was also freezing and kicking me out to the desktop in Windows 2000.
-
I also have an MX and I had that problem last week immediatly after I reinstalled XP after configuring it to dual boot with 2000 on two seperate partitions. I then reinstalled XP again and the freezing seized. The only things that changed in the reinstall is I turned of S.M.A.R.T monitoring from my bios and I stopped dual booting with 2000, I merged the two partitions. I dunno. Weird weird...

Works fine out of the box for me. Don't have to tweak anything.

He has to be talking about build 2501.

Can anyone get the controller to work properly with High heat 2k2 and RC1? The up button is like stuck, it works ok with the Keyboard but if I use any controller the up button sticks. This is the only game I experience this with. Any ideas?
-
Actually it appears to only not work with my gravis controllers, I have a gravis eliminator aftershock USB and a gameport POS gravis gamepad pro and they both have the problem but with my mad catz stearing wheel and POS saitek controller they don't have the problem. I guess the moral of this story is don't buy Gravis controllers. They have yet to make their experience software compatible with 2000/XP making the features in my eliminator aftershock useless even though they state 2000 is supported on the box. Don't buy Gravis controllers!

Everyone's gonna need more information then that.

Quote: Well, if your hell bent of going around the '30 second' activation process when it doesn't in any way compromise personal information on your computer then can I just issue with the following warning: It's gonna take a hell of alot more then 30 seconds when you upgrade enough of your system to messup the activation. Quote: If MS release any major updates for XP, Service Packs and large update files, please backup all your data first. Unlikely. ::laughs:: They may make the OS unusable but they aren't going to destroy data on your Hard drive.

You wouldn't by any chance know how to disable it in Windows 2000 would you?

Have you tried copying the D2MUSIC.MPQ file from the PLay CD to the Diablo 2 Directory? The D2 install doesn't install that file to the hard drive using full install or not and it needs that file to run and if it aint in the directory or can't be read from the CD drive it will ask for the CD whether you're using a crack or not.
