Whenever my computer comes off standby or hibernation my harddrive light stays lit and my system hangs for 20 or 30 seconds when I run something or just open a windows explorer window. I can't restart or reenter standby mode it'll just stop and the shutdown screen forever. And I can't get rid of this unless I power off the system, if I just hit the reset button it'll stay and the windows startup screen forever. Anyone know what the deal is?

PowerQuest PartitionMagic 7.0 + Windows XP does nothing but freeze on me. Even froze during a resizing, lost most of my data, was able to recover a few files though. Very few.

Don't blame Windows XP because EA doesn't care about their customers. They knew about Windows XP long before Superbike waseven released but refused to do what 90% of what all the other developers were doing and make their games compatible with Windows 2000 so they would also be compatible with XP. And they could also come out with a patch to address compatibility but they don't care so they won't. Just don't hate Microsoft or XP when it's EA's fault. They had plenty of time to address this. Windows XP is a great OS far more faster and reliable then 98.

Sorry to disappoint you JBrave715, but you still have a Via component on your mobo. >> You didn't dissapoint me. I am already awhare of that. However I am not positive of the reason why the crackling is greatly reduced from past Motherboards with chipsets that entirely consists of a via cheapset. <<The VIA bridge is however a second revision (hence the , they claim to have fixed the VIA+Creative bug.>> It's fixed for the most part but still get's crackling here and there.

Crack down on what!? Getting opinions from a message board? Oh god forbid!!! BTW I have an 8k7a and it rocks. Upgraded from an A7V that froze like a mother. This Motherboard is rock solid and alot faster then that POS A7V was... And the 8k7a uses the AMD chipset so Creatives crappy Live sound cards don't crackle all the time as they do with the Via chipsets.

Call the publisher or developers and ***** at them for doing such an idiotic thing. All you can hope is they release a patch to address their idiotic actions.
-
Well I hope it works out for ya. Maybe in the meantime you should give Microsoft a call and see if they have any answers to your problems. Goodluck.
-
I don't know man. I don't deal with those problems, whenever I get weird error messages like that and don't know how to fix them I format and reinstall windows.
-
What error message did it give you? The game controller software installed fine when I installed it. Though the FF stick works natively in Windows 2000 and XP. I installed it to try to get a sidewinder game controller to work.
-
My gameport FF Joystick has Force feedback in both Windows 2000 and XP. I always thought the same would be true with the wheel. Have you tried downloading the latest game controller software? http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/sidewinder/downloads/default.asp
-
Works great for me. Just installed it and I was all set.

Found some mirrors. Was able to finish my download. ftp://edu.mydrivers.com/sound/SB51.exe http://file2.mydrivers.com/sound/SB51.exe

<<thery have since updated there site saying XP driver coming soon, so lets hope there idea of soon is around XP release time if not before>> In the manual for the Eliminator aftershock is said they would have their software available for windows 2000 soon. I bought that controller (which I returned after it died on me. It wasn't being recognized for some reason) in may or june (maybe even earlier) and STILL there hasn't been as much as a beta version. Yet there has been beta versions for Windows 98/me... Go figure. Gravis's controllers really really look nice but they suck. No drivers and they aren't built to last expecially the gamepad pro series.

Evidently nobody knows.

Netscape version 6 and 6.1 does not Install under windows XP

Netscape sucks ever since AOL bot them. -
<<xp is NT v5. Not 5.1!! never will be, even after update. haha>> Sure it is. Go to my computer > up at the top of the window go to help > About Windows. It will say "Microsoft Windows Version 5.1". I know I know You stand corrected Blah blah blah..... <<liveware is not a driver, its a program plus a collection of drivers.>> It's a bundle of a bunch of programs plus drivers. <<I don't think installing liveware 3 is enough to do the trick to get back spk output.>> Works for me, I now have fully functioning surround sound. Two in the back two in the front. It's great, in max payne you open a door and run past it you can hear it closing behind you. Sweet. <<The official XP drivers will be out late october. I know some people have probs w. back speaker output.>> Creative is not known for releasing drivers on time. Even though they always give these broad release dates. And accoring to their tech support they will be releasing drivers ONLY not any liveware like bundles. <<As for crackling, thats true. the sb shares resourcess w. IDE drivers, ie. HPT370 mass storage controller ata 100. The drivers are not a good mach up, so update your mobo. if still no good, wait until October Xp drivers come out for SB.>> I've owned two different Motherboards with the Via chipset and they both crackled whether I had a microsoft driver or an official creative driver installed. So waiting for creative to release their drivers is problably pretty pointless if you're waiting because you think they will fix your crackling problems.

The question here is why the file name is SB51.exe. It can either be the version of windows it's for (which maybe a better name would be using "XP" instead of "51" but maybe the person that named the file is sick of everyone naming their products after XP) or that it works with 5.1 SBlive cards. Personally I don't care and I'm not going to lose any sleep over this.
-
I think the "51" or "5.1" in the file name is the version of windows it's for or something. Windows XP is Version 5.1. Anyway yes it works fine with value cards. As for 5.1 cards since I don't got one I don't know but it did give me an option to select 5.1 speakers during setup. So I'd assume it would work.
-
Poping and Crackling is not due to the drivers it's do to a problem with the SBLive Cards and with as far as I know ALL VIA chipsets. The first two Motherboards I had were ran by via chipsets and popping crackling was extremely common, this last time I went with an AMD chipset (EPOX 8K7A) and crackling, popping or any sound adnormalities has completely seized. It's quite nice. But anyway you'll find that 99% of people having crackling and popping noises with their SBLive have a via chipset.

Just a normal one.
-
BTW it works great. No problems at all. I can use all the features as I could in Windows 2000 again.
-
Because it's an unoficial Live!Ware package.
