Your right, you can't uninstall directx in Win2K, I had a flashback to Windows 98 when I sugested that. I did do some digging on IRC and a couple of other people have been having the same problem with version 3.79 of the drivers. Is there now place where you can get the older drivers. One guy on IRC said that 3.75 was much more solid. Hope this helps The Git

    Diabolo II Beta

As far as I know you can only get a copy if you have been accepted onto the beta program. Even if you find a copy on the net you will have to get a valid User ID and activation code. Even then the beta is only multi-user on Blizzards Battlenet Servers (no standalone version). According to Diabloii.net Blizzard are scanning all servers for duplicate ID's and disabling anyone with a duplicate. In brief No Chance Good news is that the product is expected in the shops by the end of June so not too long to wait now. Not when you consider that I wanted the game for Christmas 1999 and I'm still waiting. The Git

OK not sure what is going on but just a thought. Are you running Q3A and HL in Open GL. If you are then the other games might be D3D and the problem may lie in the fact that the D3D DirectX 7 is screwed but the open GL drivers are working fine. Run the Direct X Diags to see if that reports any kind of problem or try uninstalling and then reinstalling DirectX! Hope this helps The Git

    nt performance...

Yes NT is faster at some things than Windows 98 and Microsoft will quite openly state that when running application such as Word or Excel then Windows NT is 20% faster. The main speed benefit you get from NT is that there is very little delay when switching between applications or impact on you foreground applications when you are running applications in the background because NT’s multitasking and threading are just soooooo much better than Windows 98. On the question of File systems making a difference then the fastest is NTFS if your hard drive is bigger than 1GB, next comes FAT32 which is fast but not as stable as NTFS and then you have poor old crap FAT16. Finally NT has support for multi processors, and there are a lot of good 2 processor motherboards around at the moment. Fire up Windows NT or 2000 on one of these puppies and you will understand the true meaning of speed. Hope this helps! The Git

Indiana Jones is driving me mad

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is a fantastic game BUT under Windows 2000 it is driving me mad. I can load a new game and play it just fine. Once in a new game I can load existing games with no problems and everything works great. So why when I try to load a saved game from the main menu does the game bomb out. I am using a Creative Labs TNT 2 Ultra with the lastest 5.22 nvidia drivers and Windows 2000, 400Mhz Celeron 256Mb RAM. Anyone any thoughts! The Git
  8. When playing Microsoft Starlancer the system locks up after about 10 minutes. I am running it at 1024 X 768 but it happens at all resolutions. I have checked the MS site to see it there are any patches but no luck yet. I am using a Creative Labs TNT 2 Ultra and Windows 2000, 400Mhz Celeron 256Mb RAM. Anyone got any thoughts!
