I usually keep my desktop at 32 bit color. Just recently (I can't pinpoint when this started) half life pops up with a screen that says I need to switch to 16 bit color on the desktop in order for it to run. Anybody else have this problem? My Sys: Win2k - Professional TNT2 Ultra - 5.22 reference drivers Half Life - 1.1 update

Veddar: Get a Life. I love people like you who can trash others behind the cover of their computer screens. You didn't have to respond. Grow up. stephp: I think the solution IS in the archives but all you need to do is change this line in your q3config: r_ignorehwgamma 1 Your line probably has a zero in it. Once you set it to 1 you won't be able to use the slider bar in Q3 to change the gamma. You'll have to change this line in the config to manually make the game brighter: r_gamma 1.212500 Try playing with that number to see what's best for you. I think mine is at 1.5...not sure on that though.

woohooo! It worked... UT, Q3 and TRIBES work great! thanks for the great post. I've been having troubles with all the 5.xx drivers and nothing has seemed to help and this is the first post I've seen on the issue! I'm going to link this to the other forums I've posted to in case any one else can use it. Thanks again.

Well I'm not sure what you need either but if you go here: http://www.3dchipset.com and look under "drivers and utilities" you will see a list of all the drivers from 3.69 to 5.22. I'm using 3.84 now. Hopefully switching to 5.22 tonight.

Wow! this is great! I've been blue screening every game that runs opengl in Win2k with the 5.22 drivers. Do you think this fix will work for that?
