Hey I'm wondering how to get this game working in XP.. When I start the .exe I get the menu just as it should be (with the choice to set sound options or play the game). When I choose the Play choice, my screen goes black and the computer stops responding completely, and I have to restart. I have tried to both set audio options, and to play without but it's the same result for both. If anyone's gotten it working, please tell me how =)

Hi. I'm having some major problems with my CD-R/RW unit, a Samsung SW-408B . It doesn't support Burn-Proof technology, but even when i have about 220 mb's of RAM free, and I do nothing else at the same time, I will get buffer underruns. One of three cd's I try to burn get ruined because of this, so I'm loosing money cause of it . I'm using Nero in WinXP mainly, but I have the same problem with CDRWin. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this from happeing? At least a little bit.. Thanks.

I have 1.5 gigs of virtual memory, spread out over three partitions, and two physical drives...

I have a really weird problem with WinXP, and I have no idea how it has arisen. The problem is, my StartUp folder in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders is set to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" but it should be my user name, Cerbero, instead of All Users. When I change it, it changes back to the faulty path when I log off and then back on. This wouldn't be a problem if I were the only one who used the computer, then I would have all the startup items in the All Users folder anyway, but now I need some apps to start only when I log on, for example an FTPd and such. Does anyone know how I can remedy this? I've tried changing with both Regedit and TweakUI for XP. Thanks [EDIT] Never mind.. It works now for some reason, after a couple of tries..

Hey. I just installed VMWare evaluation, just to be able to play Day of the Tentacle. But I have a problem. I have gotten the sound to work on the virtual machine, which runs Win98 SE, but in DOTT, it doesn't work. According to VMware, the virtual sound card on the guest system has the address 0x220 and the IRQ 7. When I enter those settings in the DOTT configuration, I still don't get any sound. Also, DOTT says "Warning: EMS detects less than 2 megabytes", and thus the game runs kinda slow. A way to fix that would be very good too, but most of all, I just want sound. Thanks.

insaNity: I haven't been able to get any of the old LucasArts games at all running in XP so it certainly helped me This app is my new best friend

Whoa!!! Thanks so much for the tip badaro! It works great! Didn't know such a project existed

Quote: vmware doesn't support emm386 properly, it only work with the /noems switch. Is the /noems switch for VMware or DOTT? Also, please help me with the sound anyone?

I tried with VMWare, but that resulted in more problems See http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=20217

I borrowed the cd version from a friend of mine. Uncracked. And I still got the same result.. (Computer freezing up entirely).. Dunno what it is. I figured I could run it on my router can (a 486 33mhz), but it was too slow to run under Win98.. The speech stopped after about ½ a second every time someone said something.. Gonna try installing Win98 on a 200mhz now, and see how that goes As you can tell, i'm desperate

Hm.. Didn't work.. I still get the same problem.. With the screen just going black. I don't have to restart now though, I can close the dos session. I'm gonna try with another version later though, so I'll get back to ya

I've tried it and it didn't work. I'm pretty sure the compability setting doesn't do anything for DOS games though.

Please anyone. This is like my favotire game of all time, so I really wanna get it working I'm too lazy to dual boot though, I gotta get it working in XP...

Hey, dunno if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a try at least. I'm having some problems with TvTool 5.5.2 on Windows XP Pro, using a nVidia GeForce 2 mx card with the CH700x TV chip. The problem is, I want to play an interlaced DVD on my tv, but I can't enable the "Non-Interlace" option in TvTool, since it's greyed out. Does anyone know why I get that, and/or how to fix it? Thanks.

Hey. I tried the site that was listed in NTCompatible's news, where there were a tutorial for making WinXP logon screens. The URL was http://www.angelfire.com/ab6/logonxp/tutorial.html The site isn't there anymore though. Angelfire probably removed it when it started getting alot of hits... Anyway, does anyone have it saved, or some other tutorial for this? Thanks alot.

Installation of the new Crap *** SB Live drivers for XP
CeRbErO replied to superman322's topic in Hardware
Well, I got the rear speaker output working. I had to uninstall the card in Device Manager, reinstall it with the default XP drivers, and then install this driver update. Now it works, with surround mixer and everything. Cool -
Installation of the new Crap *** SB Live drivers for XP

I installed it on top of the 'hacked' LiveWare 3 for XP. The drivers work, but I'm back with the classic Live problem in XP - no rear speaker output =P and thus, I think I'm sticking to the hacked LiveWare, which works perfectly, except crackling sound in the Sheep Dog n Wolf game. -
Just installed them.. They work just like the old drivers, but AudioHQ and SurroundMixer is included. There is a problem though, rear speaker output, as usual... So I'm going back to the hacked liveware. Using SBLive! Value

i installed it, and the drivers work... but - i can't use it for what i used it for in win2k... i have my speakers plugged into the "front" speaker plug, and the cable to my tv in the "back" one. in 2k, i could use the "record to md/dat" setting in lw. that gave exactly the same output to the front plug as the back plug. but in xp it doesn't work. i don't get any output to the back plug...
-
Yeah. Saw that. I got a friend to dl the update for me. Thanks for the tip though. Works like a dream.

Download the updated drivers off Windows Update. Works like a dream, at least in RC1.

Hmm. Do I need the update for it to work? Or is that just an extra you put in? 50 megs is a little hefty from home over modem...

I have a SBlive value soundcard with 4 speaker output, I have my pc speakers connected to the first output, and my tv to the other, and herein lies my problem. In win2k, i used liveware 3.0 and the surround mixer to configure my soundcard for "Record into minidisk/dat" mode (same signal to both speaker outputs), but liveware doesnt work as it is supposed to in winxp (rc1)... It works fine in the session i install it, but after i rebooted, the sound is only sent to the first speaker output, and i cant start the surround mixer, because then Devldr.exe hangs. If i use windows' function for selecting speaker mode, it configures the output for surround, and not the same signal for both outputs, and thats what i really need. I hope you understand what i mean, thanks.

I believe that Asus uses the Chrontel tv chop for all of their nvidia based cards, and thus TVTool won't work with them, only TVCC2000. Anyway, I have a GF2MX, I don't know what brand though, but it has the chrontel chip, and it works flawlessly in both win2k and xp rc1, both with pal and ntsc. Im using the 12.90 drivers.

Hey, I need some help with my partitions... I need to change the order of the partitions, and not only for Win2k, but really change it... I have one 40gb disk, with 2 partitions on it, one 15gb © and one 25 (E), plus a 30gb disk, with just one partition on it (D). That's my problem... The first disk puts it second partition as E, and not D, as I want it to be. This causes a real problem for me, since I can't install the XP beta that my dad recieved correctly. When I run the XP setup from a dos boot floppy, it can't copy the files correcly, and when I started the setup from win2k, after it rebooted and continued the setup, it ****ed up my entire Win2k installation, I couldn't repair it or anything. So please help me with this, thanks.
