    Intellimouse Explorer dead?

I was a little displeased with the Intellimouse Explorer's performance under Win 2K, and I was having problems with it jumping or buttons sticking in FPS games, so I downloaded the Intellipoint 3.2 package and it helped a lot with OS operations and web surfing, but when playing games, after about 15 min, the mouse would die. The lights on it would stay on, but no input. I would quit and reboot. Now after a reboot last night, no mouse at all. Not even any lights turn on. I tried both USB and PS/2 ports and still nothing. I'm just asking if anyone else has had this problem and if so is there a fix. Intellimouse Explorer dead?

Upon further inspection, it is the crappy, thin gauge cable that they used. If I tug on it a little the mouse will light up. Thanks for the info. Since I need my mouse and I can't wait around to get a new one, I may have to screw over Wal-Mart.
  3. Ok this is my situation, any help would be greatly appreciated. In our house we have 4 computers hooked up with a Netgear hub. The cards used are of 4 different manufacturers(Intel, 3Com, Netgear, and Linksys). Two of the computers are using Win98, my roomate is using WinME and I'm using Win2k. Networking is fine for file sharing but when it comes time for games, this is where the problems are. When playing Half Life, a person with Win98 has to host the game. If I host it, the other people with 98 can join but as soon as my roomate with WinME joins, it crashes. Whenever my roomate hosts, it refuses to connect to the game. We are all using version 1.1.0.1. I know that this has to be a networking problem and networking is the one thing I know little about.
  4. I had the exact same problem with my W2k system, but with a Geforce 256. I tried all of the drivers and no success. It must be the motherboard. I have a Biostar M5ALA (ALi Aladdin V chipset)and it keeps rebooting. In Win 98, it just locks up. A short term solution I have found to work so far, when you're not using 3D apps or games, move the slider under Display properties, Troubleshooting, all the way to the left, this disables all acceleration. I have been surfing the net and running apps just fine for over a day now with no mem dumps. To play games, just move the slider to the right. The monitor refreshes and you're good to go. I've decided I'm getting rid of this P.O.S. board as soon as I can get a good SocketA board in a week or so. Egghead carries the FIC AZ11 for like $127 but they're out of stock already. Anyways I hope this solution works for you too.
  5. I just picked up a 3D Prophet SE really cheap and installed it on my W2k machine. It runs games great, but sometimes when using explorer, I get a 0x1E stop error saying "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" in nv4_disp.dll. It is random and I can't find any pattern to when it will occur. I've used all of the current GF256 drivers I could find, and I have the new ALI AGP miniport driver installed. Yes it is a socket7 board with the Aladdin V chipset. This thing is driving me nuts! Help!
