I found this in the forums at VE. I tried it on my XP RC2 machine and now the demo works. 1. Download DX 8.0a for Win2K from here: http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp 2. Extract d3d8.dll from the EXE using winzip or something similar 3. Copy the extracted d3d8.dll to the red faction demo directory.

You can get the refresh rate program to work as long as you run it in Win 2000 compat mode.

I am having a problem running Baldurs Gate 2 in XP. I can install the game fine. When I play everything is real slow. When I move the mouse the pointer on the screen lags behind. The refrash rate is at about 60 and I cant seem to find a way to fix that. Also some of the sounds in the game are repeated. Thanks for the help. I think that you might have to reinstall the game. I dont think that id is going to use the 1.25 point release, I beleave that they are going to release something when the expansion pack comes out next week. There was a big uproar about the physics and the damage through the floor changes made in the patch.

It looks like the game will be out on 1/27/2001. I got this information from www.ebworld.com.

I have Santa Cruz and I have no problems with it. I dont have any of the problems that you were asking about. Except I dont know about UT cause I dont play it. I also have a geforce 2 and Athlon with KT7 mobo.

Well I just wanted to say that I got a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and so far I have had no problems with it.

If you go to www.filees.com and search for nvferfix youcan DL a util that lets you set your refresh rate for any resolution.

I was using a SB live card and I BSODs all the time. So then I tried Turtle Beaches Santa Cruz and I have had no problems with. All I mostly do is play Q3 as well and I have never had a BSOD or freeze after I have installed them.

I have to agree with them. I tried ME when it first came out and I had nothing but crashes on a clean install. As soon as I went back to 2K no more crashes. ME is a POS and a waste of money.

I have also heard that if you use openGL instead of D3D then this will solve the problem. I know that it healped me out in Gunman Chronicles a game based on the Half Life engine.

When I try to intsall Win 2k I get an error, Setup was unable to install Windows Boot Loader. Ensure that your c: drive is formated and that the drive is not damaged. I know that the HD is fine, I can use it on other comps. I am using a Abit KT7-Raid mobo and I have the HD plugged into the ATA66 IDE connectors. I have also tried to plug in the HD to the ATA100 conectors. Any ideas? Thanks.
