  1. Hello everyone, I'm trying to get the above card to work with Windows Whistler beta 2 build 2419, but had no luck so far. The 2.0 drivers from either Videologic or Sigma Designs for Win2000 won't work. I can install the driver and it is recognized as "working properly" in Device manager, but when starting the player app I get the message "MCI Error! - Unknown problem while loading the specified device driver.".

Hollywood+ DVD mpeg decoder card drivers?

I know Whistler is beta, and all I was asking was if there's a way to get the H+ card to work under Win XP. nothing more. nothing less. Cool it down a little, guys. thx for the info about modifying INF files... I'll keep looking around... but for what? ;-)

    A7V + Geforce 256 + Win2k sp1 = STABLE!

Good for you. I had a via chipset-based athlon system, but returned the mobo (abit ka7) and got a gigabyte (ga-7ixe) with an older irongate chipset, and all of a sudden the system was rock solid right from the start. i know the via chipset is slightly faster, but for me, stability comes first. config: athlon-750 on ga-7ixe 512 mb ram pc100 asus v6600 on nvidia detonator3 v6.18 adaptec 29160n ultra160 scsi intel 82559 10/100 lan hollywood+ dvd mpeg2 decoder (videologic) soundblaster live quantum atlas v 18gigs / u160 / 4mb cache dvd drive pioneer 303s cd rom drive plextor px-40tsi cd toaster teac cd-r55s os: win2k sp1
  5. For 2 days now, my newly acquired Athlon system, which worked great for about a week or so, freezes randomly. I suspected this was due to a lack of cooling or the 235W power supply. So I bought a 300W power supply, 2 additional case cooling fans and a bigger CPU cooler, but it all didn't help. I already have the newest BIOS, drivers etc., and tried to set the RAM clocking to 10/3 instead of 8/2, but it didn't help. Config: ------- Abit KA7 Mobo Athlon/750 512 MB RAM ASUS V6600 Pure GeForce Adaptec 29160N Ultra160 SCSI Intel Pro100+ NIC OS: Win2000 Thanx in advance for any help. Regards
  6. ... it's the mobo that's causing the problem; they checked the CPU and memory on different boards and also another CPU on my board. So I'll give it back and get a (hopefully more stable) Asus K7V instead. Thanx anyway.... CU
  7. Thanx, but it got even worse: Now the system won't start at all anymore, so I removed all PCI and the AGP grafx card cards to see whether it is one of the cards causing the problem. Not the case. I tried with different memory and an older PCI grafx card (both of which I KNOW they work fine), but still - blank screen, no vga signal, no beeps, no keyboard blinking, just NOTHING. So I suspected it's gotta be either the mobo or the CPU that's defective. But that's being tested at my local computer store right now... Besides, I laid out 50 bucks for the power supply, so I guess it's a good one... CU
  8. Already tried flipping the 2 memory modules, and also running only one of them. Since the memory is pc100, I run them at 100 MHz.

    GeForce under Win2000

I'm desperately trying to get my ASUS 6600 Pure to run unter Win2K. System config: Athlon/750, 512 MB RAM, Abit KA7 Mainboard, Adaptec 29160N SCSI, Intel 100Mbit Ethernet The 4in1 4.22 drivers as well as the AGP updated 4.03 drivers are installed and working. I installed the 5.22, 5.25, 5.30 Detonator2 drivers from NVIDIA; the ASUS drivers cause the system to hang during boot-up. I'm at my wits' end, thus any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanx...

    GeForce under Win2000

Thanks all, I got it working now. "Standard PC" instead of "ACPI PC" in Device Manager is the key. CU around *DUKE*

    GeForce under Win2000

oh BTW, this probably isn't a hardware problem with the card, since it worked great under NT4... Regards
