    Win2K & SMP

Will Win2K Server automatically recognize that it is a dual CPU motherboard system or do yo have to specify it before setup in the F5 command at the begining of the installation? If you do have to use the F5 function, how do you go about installing 'Third Party SCSI drivers- Press F6' at the begining of setup? I am trying to install my ATTO UL3D Dual Channel Ultra3 SCSI RAID card on my new Tyan Thunder K7 Dual Socket A motherboard running Win2K Server. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Whistler .ISO to CD ?

I have Whistler Beta 1 that I got from a site, I DLed all of the .RAR files and extracted them. After extracteion, I was left with a .ISO file , there were also 2 others files that were DLed that didnt' extract into anything, they were a .NFO file and a .SFV file , so now I have a .ISO , .SFV , and a .NFO file, what do I do with these 3 files? When I open the .SFV file with Notepad, it gives me a list of all of the .R00-.R23 files, when I double click on the .NFO file(which has a symbol of the 'My Computer' symbol on the desktop) it gives me all of my current Win2000 system information. Can someone please help me out with this problem? I am new to this type of thing. I have NeroBurn and CDRWIN , which do I use and what to do next? Whistler .ISO to CD ?

No real offense taken Down8. I have never had any luck with ***** sites or a good ftp server. I suppose that if I had a good, fast, relaible source to get apps and games I would-for some of the games and apps that I would just like to try out to see if I like- But any software or game that I really like or want, I always buy. There are quite a few games that i would like to get off of a ***** or ftp, but I don't really know of any good sites to go to. If anyone could drop me an email of some good sites, I would greatly appreciate it. I was finally able to get Whistler Beta 1, Thanks to everyone that helped out. ------------------ MSI K7T Pro,1000 Mhz TBird,Adapt29160,Adaptec 2100S,3 Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,ATI Radeon 64MB ViVo, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers.

    Whistler .ISO to CD ?

I thank all of you for your help, Except Down8 who doesn't seem to friendly. I have always found this forum to be a good place for advice with many friendly people. I was able to burn the .ISO to CD with CDRWIN and great help from THC129. I am new and unfamiliar with the ***** and pirate software files and do not by any means make a habit of it, as I said in a previous post, I prefer to buy the software and games that I want or need. As it turns out, the version of Whistler that I wasted my time Dling and burning does not work, just stops at the install screen in Win2K and when booting from the CD, I get no further than -System is inspecting your computers hardware configuration.... Disk I/O error: Status =00001000 NTDETECT FAILED Another reason that I do not like or trust *****. So unless I can find a RELIABLE source to get another copy of Whistler Beta 1 , I guess that I will have to wait for it to be released and buy it. If anyone could email me with and helpful info, I would greatly appreciate it. Again, Thanks for all of the help that I recieved. ------------------ MSI K7T Pro,1000 Mhz TBird,Adapt29160 2- Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,Asus V6600Deluxe, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers.

    Whistler .ISO to CD ?

I usually buy the software and games that i want or need, but in this case, it isn't possible yet. I will buy Whistler -Windows.Net when it is available, but I would like to get an early start on it, so that when it is finished, I will be familiar with it. There is far too much crap to go through to get warez, just isn't worth my time. I hate all of the pop up windows, voting crap to DL, broken links, files that are incomplete, and online storage sites with very slow DL speeds. I rather just buy the software or game and be done with it, besides, buying software that you use gives the companies that design the software the money to develop more software. Movies and Music on the other hand, I will DL all day. The profit that is made off of music CD's and movies is beyond belief, so I don't mind robbing the music and film industry, they are all over paid anyway. The only people that suffer are the actual musicians, but they are being robbed by the record companies, not by me DLing their music. If I do really like a band, I will buy their CD, but in most cases, I do not like to spend $15 for 1 or 2 songs that I like. ------------------ MSI K7T Pro,1000 Mhz TBird,Adapt29160 2- Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,Asus V6600Deluxe, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers.

    Whistler .ISO to CD ?

What does the .NFO file do? Does it have to be included with the burn to CD? or is it just a info file? Ths .SFV file is just to make sure that the >RAR archive is complete and free of errors, correct? It doesn't have to be burned either does it? Thank you for the help, it is greatly appreciated. I finally get to try a newer version of Whistler than 2256. ------------------ MSI K7T Pro,1000 Mhz TBird,Adapt29160 2- Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,Asus V6600Deluxe, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers.

    AMD

I am using a MSI K7T Pro motherboard, 1 Gig Socket A AMD TBird, and Win2K Pro with no problems at all. My system is extremly stable under Win2K with the MSI mobo. I used to run a dual boot of Win98/2000, but found that 2000 actually works better with my mobo and CPU. I am also using all SCSI RAID in the system with no problems either. I have a Asus GeForce card and a SB Live Platinum in the system with no problems at all. Everything works perfectly under 2000. All of my games and software fine too. You should try a MSI K7T mobe, or wait for the new AMD 760 chipset which should be available in a couple of weeks. Good Luck with you new system. ------------------ MSI K7T Pro,1000 Mhz TBird,Adapt29160 2- Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,Asus V6600Deluxe, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers.

    OpenGL Drivers... where to find?

I am having the same problem on one of my systems. I am running Win2K Pro on all three of my systems. I am trying to run SOF on 2 of my systems, The system that I had built myself with a MSI K7T Pro, 1Gig TBird, Asus V6600 DeLuxe GeForce is able to run SOF with no problems at all, It actually runs GREAT. I also have a newer Compaq 5888 with a 700Mhz Athlon Classic, and a 3DFX VooDoo3 1000. I cannot get SOF to run on this system due to no Open GL Drivers for Win2K. I have treid the drivers from the 3DFX site, but they do not work. Does anyone else a similar problem with a Compaq, 3DFX VooDoo3 1000, and Win2K? I need some Open GL Win2K drivers for my Compaq system. Can anyone help me out? I will soon be upgrading my Video card in my other system and be putting the Asus GeForce V6600 into the Compaq, but until then , are there any fixes? Best SCSI burner

I am using the Plextor 12/4/32 SCSI CD RW and have had no problems with it. I am very impressed with its performance and pleased with the quality of the product. I have always bought Plextor drives, whether it be SCSI CD Roms, or SCSI CDRW, or even IDE CDRW. Whistler & Win 2000 Dual booting

I am currently running a dual boot of Whistler/Win2K. When I installed Whister, I just installed it over my Win98 as a upgrade on my laptop and it works perfectly. I still have my bootloader that works, it even has the 2 options of Whistler Personal Edition/Windows2000 Professional. I had no problems with doing an upgrade from 98 either. This OS is GREAT!!! Best AMD mother board for win2k and geforce2

I have a AMD Socket A 1000Mhz TBird & Asus V7700 GeForce2. I am running a dual boot of WinMe & Windows2000 Pro on a MSI K7T Pro Mobo. You can now get the MSI K7T Mobo with ATA100 support, and they are soon coming out with the K7T Master with onboard U160 SCSI. This board is rock solid, I haven't had a single problem with it, it was very easy to setup in both Win98/ME & Win2K. It does havew onboard sound, I disabled mine. It has 6 PCI, 1 AGP, & 1 CNR. One of the main reasons I bought the board was that it was one of the only boards that had 6 PCI at the time. The board DOES NOT have any multiplier dip switches or any options in the BIOS for Multiplier changes, so the only way to OC your CPU is by the FSB, which is only stable up to 107Mhz, I can run my TBird 1000Mhz at 1070Mhz. I have been very happy with this board, it is very stable, and has alot of othe twaeking options in the BIOS. OCing isn't really my thing anyway, besides, you really can't much more out of a 1GIG cpu anyway without making the rest of your componants unstable at higher FSB Settings. The highest that the voltage can go is 1.85v, if OCing is your thing, I would recommend the Asus A7V or the ABIT KT7, otherwise, I really like the MSI K7T Pro, I mat actually sell mine and get the K7T Master for the onboard U160 SCSI controller so that I can eliminate my Adaptec 29160 SCSI card because I am getting an Adaptec 3200S SCSI U160 RAID card for my HD's and I need a separate controller for my optical SCSI Drives, Plextor 12/4/32 CD-RW & Plextor 40X SCSI CD ROM ------------------ AsusK7V,700AMD,Adapt29160 2- Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,Asus V6600Deluxe, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers. OT-Best Notebook Computer to get?

I know that this is way OT for this Forum, but, everyone here has such good information and answers, I figured that it would be a good place to ask about a Notebook. Sorry, if this makes anyone mad. I am looking into getting a new Notebook/laptop. I am looking for a system with the following features; P3 500-600 Mhz 64-128mc ram, DVD Drive, 13"-14" Active Matrix screen, mouse pad(no eraserhead control)will run Win2K Pro(if possible, not a must) price range of up to $2300.00 I was looking at the Sony Vaio Notebooks, does anyone have any good knowledge of them? Are they good, reliable, dependable, a quality product? Can someone recommend some other goog brands of notebooks with the above features. How are the HP Omnibooks? Or the Compaq Notebooks? All help is greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance for all replies. Are their any good sites to read unbiased reviews of Notebooks? ------------------ AsusK7V,700AMD,Adapt29160 2- Cheatah 18XL,256mb MicronPC133,Asus V6600Deluxe, Plex 12/4/32,Plex 40X UltraPlexWide,Pioneer16X DVD,Zip250,Holly+,SB Live Plat,Win TV-D,FullTower w/9 fans & 2HD coolers.

I want to dual boot WIN98SE & WIN2K, do I use 1 drive for Win 98SE and 1 drive for Win2k or do I repartition Drive C and put both OS's on the same drive? Which is easier and which way will give me the choice of what OS's to boot into at startup? After reading all of the posts on this board, I think that I am in the right place for some very good advice and a good education at the same time. Thanks in Advance. I just got the new system up and running so reformating and re partitioning would be no big deal, I have all of my settings already saved on Cd & Zip to load back into the system when necessary.
