does anyone know of ANY way of getting red alert to play in multiplayer on win2k. i have 2 major issues with this game, first of all it wrote over ALL my dll's to win95 ones....i had to reinstall so it would be nice to get around this if anyone knows a way. its a pain to get running at the best of times. and 2nd, the multiplayer ONLY supports IPX in its true form as far as i can tell, so unless u have 9x, it wont multiplayer as the win2k version is not the PURE version and winxp does not have IPX in it at all . anyone got any ideas? thanks guys hardtofin

can any of u guys tell me if this is the best card around at the moment? and if there is anything coming along shortly to beat it. i need a new graphics card and i wanna get the best around. does the geforce 4 compare or not? also any probs with it under win2k ? thanks guys

hi again, ive decided to go for the 9700, eother pro or not, im not sure yet, depends on price. i noticed that there are lots of different makers of the board though. aswell as ATI there is Crucial, sapphire etc. any one got any idea on which is the best make? and the advantages/disadvantages of it? e.g is there any cooling difference, or is it purely the make of the board and thats it. ? thanks for your help again guys, hardtofin

hi guys, i am after a program that i can install on a win2k client that limits his upload to say 6kb/sec. i have looked everywhere i can think of for a program like this. does anyone know where i can find one? OR even if one exists? thanks hardtofin

thanks mate, i guess QoS is a program? or an "idea"? the whole reason i want a program that does this is because when im playing online games, my damn Dad keeps sending 10mb emails every five minutes, sending my ping through the roof cos it instantly uses ALL the bandwidth ;( ;( i have a hardware router, cos im a hardware first kinda guy but it doesnt have this facility on it unfortunately

hi guys, ive had my win2k installed over 8months now and it is REALLY really slow now. i guess its just cos its been installed for such a long time. my quesiton is do u know of any apps (safe apps) that can optimise my system again. cos opening certain apps and doing certain tasks r taking for EVER!! thanks guys hardtofin

sorry i should have mentioned that.......i already defragged all my drives using diskeeper 7. i need something to sort the registry out maybe, so apps open more quickly. everything at the moment is sluggish. hardtofin

what error do u get when u try to connect? and is it to half life or counter-strike etc. ;(

i had this under winxp too. just speed mouse speed up in the config menu of CS solved the problem for me

hi guys, i have just ordered a pioneer 106s dvd drive. this is thew one that lets u choose your region 5 times, but after that it locks it. now i know there is a program/firmware out there to unlock this, so it can be changed forever....but does anyone know where i can find it? thanks hardtofin

ok i got the drive this morning, but its OEM and comes with NO cables what i need to know is this : next to the normal slot for the audio connector there is a slot for DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT. what goes in there? is it a SPDIF cable? do i need this for digital 5.1 surround sound or not, and does it then connect from the back of the dvd drive to my soundcard (soundblaster live 5.1) ....... the instructions suck, and as i say, i have NO cables with it. thanks for your help guys

i know of a program called bootvis which makes winxp boot faster. i was wondering if there is anything similar available for win2k, it doesnt have to be necessarily bootvis, just an equivalent. thanks a lot guys Hardtofin

more info needed. is it just a lan game? or a server game? do u have a dedicated server? is it a p2p network? what port is the game on blah blah.......... THINK man, ppl cant help if u dont post enough info.

hi again, the only way i EVER got this game to run well, was on a 9x platform (uurghhh,,,,,,,,spit) i hate using that word. EVEN then it was still buggy, and the networking aspect of the game in multiplayeris a nightmare. does it ALWAYS crash at EXACTLY the same point or is it random ?

what o/s r u on? have u got the newest patch? 1.3 i tihnk it is. this is a REALLY great game, BUT it is THE buggiest piece of software i ever used. it is WELL known for it. but with the patch u should be fine. btw i play it on win2k

zeropopup s the best program i have used, the popups dont even get to open..........nice.... 8)
