Hello, I was wondering if anyone else here got infinite looping sound problem in Counter-Strike? Like I would be playing CS for like 20 mins then the game would freeze and the sound would loop forever. Then I would have to kill halflife.exe in Task Manager. This is the only game I have installed and been playing since I upgraded my system to Athlon XP 1900+. The thing is I don't know whether if this problem is AMD system specific or not because I had this same problem with my old Intel PIII 933 system too. Except I think with this new AMD system, it problem is more frequent. Any suggestions? BTW: My new Athlon XP system runs fine doing everything else. That CS problem is the only one I got so far. I forgot to mention this but video driver version is 23.11.

Grrrr...I don't know what is wrong but I am getting an Error Report after every reboot of my computer...I am this messagebox after I typed my log-in information: The system has recovered from a serious error. A log of this error has been created. For more information about this error. <link>click here<link>. So I clicked on the link and it says this: Error signature BCCode : 50 BCP1 : E2B85000 BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : BF9BCE79 BCP4 : 00000001 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 0_0 Product : 256_1 To view technical information about the error report, <link>click here<link> after I clicked on "click here" link I see this: The following files will be included in this error report: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini121701-02.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\HE@DHU~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml as you see there is a .dmp file created everytime I get this error report messagebox. Anybody know what is going on?? I have downloaded and installed the latest driver update for Audigy in Windows XP (after I installed the driver on the CD that came with the ccard). I know the error report messagebox is related to the Audigy because my system was working fine before I took my SB Live 5.1 card out (I also uninstalled the drivers for SB 5.1) and put in Audigy and installed the driver for it.

Hi guys, I sent an e-mail in Outlook 2000 and I tried recalling the e-mail but I never got anything back saying whether it was successful or not. I am sure I checked the option that will let me know whether the recall was successful or not. I have done recall message before and it worked. But this time, I didn't get anything back. Any clue to what might be the cause of this?
-
Yeah, my work is running Exchange server. The recall worked before...I don't know why that time it didn't.

I don't see the Security Settings for folders in this Windows XP. I know Windows 2000 have it though. -
Here is my sys spec: P3-750 w/ AsusP3V4X 192mb PC-100 SB Live! X-Gamer Creative Annihilator2 Windows 2000 Server I am using Detonator 3 6.18 (I have tried all the other version but this one is the most stable for me) and I have applied all the patches released by Microsoft for Win2k. My problem with NFS 5 is that it plays perfectly fine in single player mode. In Multiplayer game (LAN), it doesn't work. The game would count down "3" "2" "1" and then I would get kick back to desktop and I get this message box "Invalid Object Shape" or something similar to that. Anyone else having this problem or know to fix this problem? Please post it here or e-mail me @: zouk@onebox.com

Ever wonder that if the games are on DVD discs then I think it might rasie the price of the games. Since DVD discs are way more expensive than CDs.

I have tried both Win2k and XP. I like XP better overall. The thing I like about XP is the Widows Media player 8 and the icons on the desktop align automatically.

Hello. Ever since I installed that driver CD that came with my Sound Blaster Audigy card, I get this Audigy splash screen with sound during startup everytime. I've looked inside the startup folder and I don't see anything file relating to Audigy splash screen. Anyone know how to get rid of it? It is kind of annoying.
-
Thanks for the replies. I got rid of it now. Inferno: Iw as thinking about getting Game Theater XP but it cost like $100. I paid only $45 for the Audigy and Creative cards have been doing great for me.

Hello, I just installed Powerstrip program last week and I didn't like it so I uninstalled it. The problem now is that everytime after I log-in, my monitor goes blank for 1 second and then it comes back on. I can use my computer as usual and there is no problem with it so far. The thing is it is annoying to me. I know it is caused by Powerstrip because I wasn't getting that problem before installing Powerstrip. Any suggestions?
-
w00t! I fixed the problem. I was looking through my Registry and Coolbit thingy was enabled so I went to the display property and I found the Overclocking feature enabled so I disabled it now I don't have that 1 second blank screen problem anymore. Thanks for the help though.
-
Yeah, I increased the memory clock and core clock speed and the display was screwed up so I put them both to normal settings and decided not to overclock my video card and I uninstalled Powerstrip.

This is strange. I just reinstalled Windows 2000 Professional and installed some security patches in addition to Service Pack 2 and now I am getting blue screen of death right after Windows 2000 Professional screen at the startup. It said something about KMODE exception not handled or something like that. Here is what happened: 1. I installed Windows 2000 2. Installed all the drivers for my hardware 3. Installed Office 4. Upgraded my IE to 5.5 SP2 5. Played some Counter-Strike 6. Went to http://www.microsoft.com and clicked on "Scan your system" to see if there is any security holes in my system (the site made me download some software in order to run scan on my system) 7. Downloaded some patches recommended from "Scan your system" 8. Restarted my computer (everything is fine up to here) 9. Went back to "Scan your system" thing on Microsoft web site (I downloaded the software to scan my system again) 10. Trying to follow the recommendation made by "Scan your system" I went to Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options and changed Additional Restrictions for anonymous connections to "No access without explicit anonymous connections" 11. Restarted my computer Then my Win2k refused to take me to Log-in screen. I get Blue screen everytime right after Win2k Professional logo screen and right before Log-in screen. I've tried doing "Last known successful bootup" thing and it didn't do anything. I've tried booting up with Win2k CD and tried repair Win2k and it didn't help either. So I had to reinstall Win2k again. Right now everything is working fine except without the patches recommended by "Scan your system" thing on Microsoft web site. I think one or more of the patches screwed up my Win2k before. This is the same type of problem I had after installing Code Red virus patch 3 weeks ago before I went with Windows XP. So my question is is there any other way to recover Win2k? Has anyone here experienced the same problem I mentioned above?

Yeah, CS is the only game installed on my system using OpenGL. I have tried installing VIA's AGP driver but for some reason it won't install. Weird...I am thinking about installing VIA's 4in1 but I am afraid it might introduce more problems. But I think I am going to try it. Like I said, I don't think it is AMD specific problem because I just upgraded my mobo + CPU + memory to Athlon XP 1900+ and Abit KR7A-133 and 512 mb PC2100 from PIII-933, Abit SA6R and 512 mb PC-133. I am reusing all the other parts like video, sound, etc. I have gotten this same problem b4 when I had the Intel system. But I think I am going to try and install new VIA's 4in1 to see if that will fix my problem.

Hello, I was using my brother's computer last night and while recording a CD with Nero (5.564), I got this blue screen and I had to press reset to restart the comp. I only get this blue screen while using recording a CD. Other than that, the computer runs perfectly fine doing other stuff. I am thinking it might be power supply problem. Here is the spec of my brother's system: Windows XP Prof 300 Watts Power Supply Abit KT7A Athlon 900 768 mb of PC-133 memory 20 GB Quantum HD 30 GB IBM HD 16x Pioneer DVD drive 8x4x24x Creative CDRW drive SB Live! 5.1 Geforce2 MX Netgear network card

Brian Frank: no, the BSOD didn't list any files. It said something like: Bad_Pool_Caller or something like that...
-
Yeah, I have already installed all the patch available on the windows update site and I even installed Via's latest 4in1 driver. Still getting the same problem.

Hello all, I have currently SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 and Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 speaker system. The problem is that the sound on Center speaker will only come out in certain programs like WinDVD 3.1 and Ghost Recon. WinAmp isn't playing any sound through center speaker, so I am not getting full time 5.1 speakers sound. I heard that with Audigy, I will get sounds from my 5.1 speakers with all the programs. My question is what do you guys think about Audigy? How comapatible is it in Windows XP? Right now I have no problem what so ever with this Live! 5.1 card with Windows XP.

I prefer IBM myself. I have 2 IBM HDs (45 gig and 30 gig) inside this computer right now and so far they've been running good. I don't have any problems with my HDs so far. I've had 30 gig one for like 1-1/2 years and 45 gig for like 1 year.

What do you guys thing about SoundBlaster Audigy card?
whoisurdaddy replied to whoisurdaddy's topic in Hardware
Well...now that I turned off that SRS, MediaPlayer's sound quality is about as good as WinAmp. As for Audigy and Klipsch 5.1 speaker system, there is still no sound coming out of center speaker. Only in some games like Ghost Recon and in WinDVD 3 when I watch DVD movies. -
I have Abit-SA6R (Intel 815-EP chipset I think).

SHS: Ok. I was just wondering. mister_man: actually I like WinAmp because mp3 music sounds better in WinAmp than in Windows Media Player. Plus, I think WinAmp uses less CPU power. About the VIA thing, I agree with Clutch totally. AMD CPUs are really nice but VIA isn't providing stable chipsets for AMD CPUs. That's why I like to pay a little more to get more stable Intel CPU and Intel chipset motherboard. Personally, my experiences with Creative and Nvidia have been really good. I have no problems with their products at all. That's why when I purchased my Audigy card two days ago, I chose Creative Audigy over Hercules Game Theater XP because Audigy cost less (I bought the OEM version for about $60) and Creative has been in sound card business a lot longer than Hercules. -

SHS, since you have 5.1 speaker system with Audigy, are you getting any sound out of your Center speaker when you play MP3s with WinAmp? -
