    ultra 66 in win2k

I just got a new Maxtor DiamondMax 7200 rpm drive and it seems to be working great :-) it's faster than my old 5400 rpm drive, which is all i really care about though, that and the extra space. It's 41 gigs ) I had some problems getting it started, when i first put it in, i used a win98 boot disk to format it and put a partition on it, but it only made a 6.8 gb partition, so I had to use win2k setup to delete that partition and reformat to ntfs. THEN, i got an error that said "Error Loading Operating System". I got this message 2 times when i tried to install win2k on it. I disconnected my old harddrive, which i had made a slave to the primary and reformatted and installed win2k, voila! It worked. Guess it didnt want 2 drives with different file systems in the same puter.

    NFS 5 + Win2k + Athlon = Doesnt Run

hehe. i found out that the fix was even easier than that. I had formatted and forgot to download the compatibility fix for win2k from microsoft's website. That little 300k patch fixed the problem :-)

    NFS 5 + Win2k + Athlon = Doesnt Run

Well, i tried deleting gimmie.dll and that didnt change anything. I also set the maximum page file size to double my system ram. Still didnt help..Maybe a problem with the nvidia 5.30 drivers?

    NFS 5 + Win2k + Athlon = Doesnt Run

Hey, I just got my new Athlon 800 mhz and i installed NFS 5 again after I formatted for the switch from a PII to the Athlon and now it will get past the cd check and get to the loading screen and hang up. The harddrive is working overtime, but the game isnt going anywhere. It worked fine on my PII 350, but it doesnt seem to anymore. I've been reading on this board a bit and this sounds like the 800 meg memory problem, but i never saw how to fix it. I havent had a chance to try deleting gimmie.dll yet, but some other suggestions would be appreciated as well so I can try alot of things at once. Thanks!! Btw, my system specs are: Amd Athlon 800 Mhz Soyo K7VIA MB 256 MB PC133 SDRAM Diamond Viper V770 32mb (TNT2 Ultra)
