I have a cdrw and now i have no more space on the cd. So i used nero and did a full physical erase on the cd. It seems that it did not clean the whole cd. When i check the medium info in nero it says only 10 megs are free. aren't CDRW able to be rewritten over and over again?

Thanks!! that's probably the reason y i couldnt format my CDRW. i was supposed to use InCD instead of using "Continue Multisession". Cheers.

does the way you burn the CD-RW effect it? in Nero i the use "Contine Multisession" option.

Dirty Harry Thanks for ur suggestions, i will give them a go and post an update when i see what happens so far i know this: Quote: You are on W2K right ? i am using win2k sp2 Quote: Can you burn an empty disk without problems ? i can burn blank discs correctly Quote: What does Nero say at the end of the process ? with nero, after doing a physical erase, nero does not give any error messages. Quote: Is Nero finding your burner correctly? Yes. Nero supports this burner: since i am able to use this program to burn CDs. Quote: Have you had any other CD burning software installed ? -Clone CD -CDRWIN -Acoustic MP3 CD burner Quote: Have you had any other CD burning software installed ? i tried Clone CD's erase CD feature but it gives the same result as Nero: does not give me back the free space. Quote: Have you tried reinstalling Nero ? i will give that a go Quote: Is the problem the same when you try quick erase as full erase ? it is as do it does a quick erase INSTEAD of a full erase, when doing a full erase. Quote: You could d/l some trialware and see if that works any suggestions? Quote: Or you could try to move the burner to the XP machine i'll do this as the last resort.

I have an LG dvd player and it doesn't support burnt cds and fails to read it. Is there a way to overwrite this or bypass it? Is there like a modchip or the like for dvd players like mine?

My program folders are everywhere. i do i make winxp sort my start menu?

I have downloaded the google tool bar, but the problem is i dont want to download it again for my other computers. does anyone know where IE6 puts all the downloaded install files on the computer? the reason y i dont know where the file is because Google does not give a link to the file on its website so IE downloads and install it automatically.

i just wanted to know if there was a button where i just click to sort my start menu. since there isnt one (unless u use the windows 'classic' start menu), i guess i have to sort it manually by right clicking on the folder and choosing 'sort by name'.

Quote: Now you know what I find funny about this statement, is that in many states I have lived in the Apple systems have been incredibly dominant in the school systems. Not in Australia it isnt. Here, Micro$oft has made a deal with the Australian government to allow them to supply all schools with Micro$oft applications (including Windows). this forces children and teenagers to be ONLY exposed to Windows and Micor$oft programs throughout their time at school.

Canon is the most lazy company i know. My printer is only a year or two old (BJC-5100) and this printer can only be used on the Windows operating systems, ie win9x, winme, win2k BUT NOT winXP. this really frustrates me. luckily though i have a network with a win2k box running this printer otherwise i wont be able to print anything. further more, nearly all Canon products cant run on the Linux operating systems- which doesnt give ppl a lot of variety (esp if Micro$oft already owns over 90% of the home user market)- this forces ppl to stay with Windows if they own ANYTHING from Canon. YET my BJC-5100 cant run on winxp. i'm fed up with canon.

Quote: ... go to "Customise" on the start menu options, and click on sort. i can only do this if i am using the "classic start menu". what do i do if i'm not using this feature?

i just believe that children and teenagers at high school should not be exposed to microsoft products (esp windows) their whole time at school. they already have it at home, y not try something else at school? they will be learning how to use different OSes and to use different programs that can do the same job as if it was on windows. the experience is well worth it.

installing linux as a dual boot is one of the first big steps into using linux. it took me a couple of months to prepare myself for the plunge. after installing it (i tried countless times) my next step was to network my computers together: connecting a linux box and a windoze box together. although i eventually figured it out (took me a couple weeks of research and trial and error), i have learnt that linux can be a very powerful resource. i do agree on everyone that there's not enough companies supporting it, (esp canon ) thats y i've stop using linux- i cant do anywork on it since my printer and scanner doesnt work on the OS (yes their both canon's). what ppl should do is this: newbies learning to use a computer should start out using linux, it will be a hard learning curve. but remember, at some stage ALL of us had to learn how to use windows (dont forget how hard it was). - it's the same thing but with linux. btw i used redhat 7.0

i dont think half-life or max payne was very good. quake3 is my current favourite. these are the following games ppl should out for: 1. Unreal 2 2. WarCraft 3 3. Doom 3 never underestimate ID Software. does anybody remember playing doom2 in the good ol' days where co-operative gameplay was possible?

Quote: I would choose Kaspersky's Antiviral Toolkit Pro 3.5.x, once again it more accurate than Norton or McAffee ! AVP sees and destroys viruses that the other two can't even see ! My choice was simple as that ! My opinion ! when i first used it, the program was a complete memory hog. it had so many options that it overwhelmed me. what was even worse it didnt give any help when it finds a virus: it keeps giving me the same "virus found" dialog (this is during real time) even when i tell it to delete it or just ignore it. i had to turn it off the preserve my sanity. another thing is that the auto-protect scans the WHOLE folder b4 u open it, which lags ur computer for about 1.5 mins. it's even worst when u have a lot of compressed files. i prefer to user NAV.
